Chapter 86 – Soul Resonance (Part 3)

On Geran’s side… just before Equinox froze everyone…

Geran: It has been a while since I have tasted blood, and heard the agonizing screams of the people… ugh… I am so bored…

Geran then twitched as his face, even though it was just a skull, was filled with ecstasy as his eyes glowed, clearly excited.

Geran: I can feel it! Screams, agony, pain!! Ahh… this is bliss… I want to see it!! Ah I want to see it! Guh… but I am near to breaking through the peak a d become an otherworldly being but… I guess a peak couldn’t hurt right? I’ll return afterwords.

Geran said as a excited dark aura emanated from him.

Geran: Ahh! Such a wonderful scene! I must join in!

Geran then entered the fray as he started slaughtering as much as he can taking neither sides as all the being retreated from him as he had killed more soldiers from each side than the soldiers took from each other. As Atir chased them something peculiar happened, everything froze in place as his body felt stiff… he could still use his senses but other than that, nothing… he even cannot control the mana around him or his scythe.

Geran: (Just what is happening…)

After a while explosions can be heard as well as sounds from fighting, hours passed as suddenly, someone appeared.

???: A natural weapon!! A weapon born from a magical beast, this has quite the high caliber as well as it has a dark attribute, how convenient!

The man said as he plunges his hand into Geran…

Geran: (W-what… no…no!!! I must devour my soul before… I can’t!?)

Moments after…

Equinox then used a skill as the darkness around him gathered in one place as it filled the gaps where his limbs and parts where gone. It was the skill of the scythe

Equinox: My luck really is great, now I could at least take him down before I take over him…

Nelus then approaches with great speed as Equinox instinctively parry Nelus’ fist with the blade of his scythe grinded on it as he was still pushed back, he thought he can finally use its form up when suddenly…

Equinox: Why isn’t it working!?

Equinox said while shouting as he glares at Nelus. He then thought that it was the first time for him to handle a scythe but as he was thinking this, he saw a hole in the shape of a sphere on it… and near it was the embedded soul… protruding, another requirement was actually to gain acceptance from Geran first to display its full capabilities but he didn’t know that.

Geran: (Hah! That’s what you get for forcefully taking my soul!)

Equinox: (You! Form Up immediately!)

Geran: (I don’t want to and also, I don’t like you. Hmm… is that the man I faced before? He feels quite different especially his aura… so you are fighting him, just die.)

Equinox: (You… hahh… nevermind!)

Equinox said while grinding his teeth, he was extremely furious at Geran. But he had no choice but to go with it and unleashed all of his mana and converted to darkness…

Geran: (Oh! So you’re this powerful… since our soul is connected let me see your memories… Oohh!! So he is a God, and… does someone like that really exist!? The one you wanted to take revenge from this Sal…)

Equinox: (Don’t you dare say that name!!)

Equinox shouted in his mind as Geran in his mind smirked…

Geran: (If a being like that really exist then I fear the future, though I doubt you’ll need to right, Origin of Darkness?)

Equinox became speechless, these memories were supposed to be sealed up, how can he find them so easily?

Geran: (You must be thinking how I bypassed your memories; it was because I am the supreme soul of the undead and also your current link, why else do they call me mythical? The memories I got wasn’t from your current memories but from the memories you left behind when you died! It must be confusing so to summarize it all; once you die you will shed off your previous memories and will only regain them through special means, for you it was because your soul is too strong. Those lost memories are still on you but you have no power over it unlike me.)

Geran said with a smug face as Equinox got irritated…

Geran: (Why don’t you save the act, savior of all.)

Equinox flinched at Geran’s words as Nelus used this opening to attack as his fist was headed towards Equinox.

Geran: (Well, whatever… if you die I die too so I’ll give you permission to use my powers as long as I am entertained.)

Equinox grinned as he tnougnt “Finally!” as the scythe’s form changed into a lance made of black bones with an azure aura… it felt as if it symbolizes death as he used bone manipulation as he released the frozen state of the soldiers and use dark manipulation to send multiple tentacles of darkness and killed the soldiers that Geran haven’t killed and used the corpses to gather thousands of bone spears floating above him as Llyra, Nelus, Folia and the others stared dumbfounded at the turn of event. As Equinox was going to launch his attack two figures appeared near Nelus… it was the furious Altan and Tania.

Nelus: Stay back… it’s too dangerous…

Altan then spat out a small raging flame and gave it to Nelus

Altan: Uncle! Use this!!

Tania: It’s our energy absorbing flame. Even if he can regenerate himself, it will continue to devour him at least hold him back so that you can give the finishing blow… you only have less than 2 seconds as we are far to weak to truly hold him back… We are sorry, we can only do this much…

Tania said while deeply bowing.

Nelus: Thank you.

Llyra: Leave his attack to me just go on without worries!!

Nelus then nodded as Equinox launched his spears, Nelus then used Lightning force and element armor to go through the rain of spears as it was heads towards the others. Llyra then cast Absolute Zero with most of her mana to stop at most 80% of it as some were still headed towards them. Llyra then used obliteration and stormed through the spears while continually swinging as some manage to pass through… heading straight toward the others.

Llyra: No!!!

Then someone emerged from the group of people… it was Folia as she quickly cast Chaos Road to return all the remaining ones as it just once again became ammunition for Equinox. Folia then grinned as Llyra smiled.

Folia: My name is Folia.

Llyra: Glad to meet you personally, I am Llyra.

Folia: That was the first time I saw Nebulus act like that! Who are you to him?

Folia said excitedly as she was planning something mischievous, Llyra sighed as she turned around as Folia pouted. Llyra knew that if she told her there will be no stopping her from using it. Nelus once thought to erase her thoughts as well as the others about his identity but he knew it wouldn’t work considering she is the troublesome Folia, Goddess of Chaos and Mischief.

Even if her memories are erased, her skills wouldn’t and would just use it to whomever she wants… at least that is how Nebulus perceived on how Folia was able to materialize, through a unique skill unlike those imperfect ones from before by her using her skill on him. As Nebulus managed to get though the spears he tries to punch Equinox as Equinox grinned and used dark manipulation to conjure up a shield made of dense darkness. Nelus then used infuse as he imbue a lot more of the light essence into his gauntlets as the wings of light became more solid as it once again formed into a two prong blade and a shield.

Nelus thrust his blade into the gaps of the darkness covering equinox as Equinox quickly parries it with his huge lance as the blade slides along lance as Equinox quickly bashes Nelus on his side as Nelus blocks with his shield. Nelus decided to use a spell as with the help of the gauntlet’s skill, mana imprint, all the mana around him in a certain range will be in his complete control. Of course, Equinox’ floating dark shields were still active as it is with the use of a skill to directly manipulate the darkness. Nelus used the spell, Lux Spire, an X rank spell as it was slightly weaker than he imagine, even though he had more innate aptitude towards the light element.

Even so, it was still stronger than his usual X rank spells. The mana around him shot up into the sky as the clouds gather due to the gravitational force of the mana fluctuating in the air as a huge towering wave of light descended towards Equinox as Equinox used bone manipulation and gathered the now shattered bones and formed them into a shield and manipulated the darkness to cover it up and boost its resistance towards light. The light then crashes towards him as a crater appeared around him due to the impact. As Nelus increases the output by supplying more mana, Equinox was forced to kneel down as his eyes became black and disperses the light using the darkness with great force, pushing out the light that forces him down.

Equinox lifts up his hand and pointed towards Nelus as he used bone manipulation to create a large bone spear in front of him as well as another one behind Nelus. He cast Nox Hide to cover up the spear from behind and assaulted Nelus with a series of thrusts while the large spear is getting bigger; he then fired the spear at Nelus as he parries it with his blade. Equinox launches the hidden spear as Nelus’ eyes narrowed and blocked instinctively at his back while still looking at Equinox. Of course Equinox had already predicted this and rushed towards Nelus while his other hand is preoccupied. Equinox created seven duplicates of his spear using Dark Manipulation with a spear of bone inside each one.

Nelus then noticed that his other hand that was blocking the hidden spear couldn’t move as he saw that the bone spear coiled up around it while in the control of Equinox. Equinox then tried to corner Nelus with a series of attacks. The first to fourth thrust of Equinox was with the continuous array of attacks from the floating Dark Bone Spears he created like a thing called a machine gun from the common world. Equinox then uses his all to do a fifth thrust as all seven spears attack him all at once. Nelus’ eyes then turned silver which unlike divinity was more pure as it embodies the light element. Equinox eyes turned black as the darkness around the spear grew larger. Nelus used his free hand as the two pronged blade glowed as an explosion occurred, large enough that it created a huge shockwave that blew everything near them away as the ground around them was peeled off. Folia then cast Chaos Road with the last bit of her strength… as the dust around them clears they can see Nelus and Equinox panting while the light around Nelus that wasn’t there before dissipates as well as the flame that Altan gave Nelus that seems to be on Equinox’ chest as it absorbs the malicious aura around him as it disappears.

Equinox: Hah… hah… hah…

Nelus: … Hah… hah…

Geran: (He pulled through at the last moment huh…)

Equinox glared at Nelus as the dark aura around him dissipates as his expression soften, he then looks around with a baffled expression as his gaze fell on Nelus and said…

Equinox: What happened…?

Nelus then noticed that something was quite different about him as he then said…

Nelus: We fought…

Equinox: Why?

Nelus: You wanted to take over my body.

Equinox: I see…

Nelus: Do you still want to?

Equinox: Don’t need to.

Nelus: Why? I thought you need it.

Equinox then looks at Nelus as Nelus nodded understanding his expression as Folia stared at the two of them.

Folia: Hey, Llyra… right? It feels weird; it’s like there are two Nebulus… and is this like a special communication that only those who are Nebulus can understand?

Llyra: I can understand it too, it meant that he was not himself before and right now he will stop fighting him.

Folia: Y-you’re making that up… right?

Nelus: It is true…

Nelus said making Folia dumbfounded as Equinox then said with an icy expression as his energy fluctuated as he then sighed.

Geran: (Oho? It seems the malice around you was suppressed.)

Equinox: (Only for now.)

Equinox: I am already a part of you.

Equinox said as the lance he was holding was absorbed into him. He closes his eyes as his body slowly fades away as the dark aura heads towards Nelus as it covers up his soul but somehow Nelus felt that there wasn’t any threat to it.

Folia: Is it over?

Folia said towards Nelus as she anticipates his answer.

Nelus: Yes… at least for now.

Hearing his words, everyone cheered as Folia then shouted…

Folia: So you brats!! Do you still want to continue the war?

Riseos as well as every beings of darkness vigorously shook their heads as they have learnt their lesson. Folia mischievously smiled as Nelus then approached Llyra…

Nelus: Are you perhaps… Llyra?

Hearing Nelus say her name made her smile gently at him as warmth spread throughout her heart. It has been a while since Nelus has told her, her name and it made her extremely happy to the point that she had to hold her tears in.

Nelus: Do you know… about… me?

Llyra: Of course.

Nelus: Can you tell me? I seem to have seen a vision of a man that looks like me… he had brown hair and red eyes… you called him… Nebulus… is that me…?

Nelus said anxiously as

Llyra: Silly…

Llyra said as she patted Nelus head as Nelus felt quite comfortable and hugs him tightly… as she lets go she then told Nelus…

Llyra: You must find out yourself… and don’t ask the others… I want you to remember by yourself and not by being told about it. (I also wish to tell you but… just saying my name… that pained expression… I will wait until you have healed completely… I don’t want you to lose yourself again. I don’t want you to hurt yourself just for my sake… and I won’t force you to recognize that I am your love as well as your wife as me loving you is enough... my love for you will never change no matter what and I believe...)

Llyra then looks at Nelus with loving eyes as Nelus then noticed Llyra’s complicated expression as he then nodded… Llyra smiled as she then turns to the Lina from the common world…

Lina: I’m glad you fulfilled your promise…

Nelus: I did promise after all.

Lina: (Hahh… and for you to be taken… well can’t have them all… say… Llyra… I can at least watch over him with you?)

Llyra: (I am alright with it, but we can’t take this body forever from little Lina…)

Lina: (Ah! That's right…) Nebulus, thanks again.

Nelus: You’re welcome?

Nelus said as Lina finally returns back to the usual Lina, daughter of Ciall…

Lina: Uncle?

Lina said as Nelus patted her head… Lina then giggled.

Nelus: Lets go… everyone seems a little tired…

Nelus said as he look over at Ciall and the others as they still held shocked expressions… especially Ciall…

Nelus: (I see… he saw that… so I need to explain about Lina…?  Afterwards... I need to find Genbalt…)
