Chapter 15 – Harvest

Calice: So the soul orb can be used like that… I never knew…

Nelus: It does say that it originally belonged to humans…

Calice: You have a point… but to be used like this…

Nelus: How do the spirits usually use the soul orb?

Calice: We don’t technically use it… we just let it stay within the kingdom and if you harvest souls within a specific area, the soul wouldn’t be damaged…

Nelus: (It must be hard on them… I guess there is a flaw in some of the rules we God’s created… well sooner or later Murix or the others will eventually find out and fix it… like the ones from before… I can’t tell them myself as I am not in my realm so they might suspect that something is amiss…)

Calice: Even if it truly belongs to them… I don’t agree with their ideals… it will just cause chaos in the world of Alxia.

Nelus: (If it does happen… I kinda feel bad for them as when Murix truly becomes angry…. not the time to think about that time with Lonlei… well she did almost made the beings she made, the cupids to cause mass overpopulation which nearly destroyed the resources of Alxia… well partly it isn’t her fault some of it was Folia’s fault as she managed to convince Lonlei that there isn’t enough beings in Alxia… she to got scolded while…)

Calice: Lord Nelus? What are you thinking so hard about?

Nelus: Just a past memory and what action do we need to take as the necromancers are coming…

Calice: If what you said is true about the power of the soul orb then first we need to evacuate the kingdom and I will fight them.

Nelus: It is too dangerous…

Calice: I can’t just abandon my kingdom… I want to protect it…

Nelus: It is your choice…

Calice: Thank you Lord Nelus for all that you have done…

Nelus: What do you mean?

Calice: Take your friend with you to evacuate with the spirits.

Nelus: No I will fight with you after I take Reila and the others to safety.

Calice: O-okay…

I headed first to Reila’s room and it seems that the fenrirs have woken up too.

Reila: Lord Nelus… how did we return to the castle… and what happened to the necromancers?

Nelus: I teleported us away using a skill.

Frei: We are further in your debt… we can never repay you for saving our lives so we shall serve you forever.

Fala: Thank you Lord Nelus!

Nelus: I just did what I need to do…

Frei and Fala: (Truly worthy to be our master)

Reila: Did you tell Lady Calice about the current situation?

Nelus: Yes… and also Reila… take the fenrirs with you to evacuate with the spirits…

Reila: Does that mean you intend to fight!? Lord Nelus its too dangerous!

Frei: At least let me fight with you…

Nelus: I am the only one in our group who is quite resistant to the soul orb…

Fala: Then… we will divert the other necromancers to lessen their forces while you handle their leader.

Nelus: If I can’t convince you otherwise… can I…

Reila: No!

Nelus: Fine… but if you are in danger just call my name…

Reila: Of couse! You too Lord Nelus… be careful.

Nelus: I will.

Calice: They are here!

Nelus: Okay… Frei… you are in charge of their safety.

Frei: Yes my Lord.

Calice and I goes outside to confirm the situation and it seems that they have entered the forest. We get ready to confront them as for Reila and the fenrirs try to hide to ambush some of the necromancers. Currently the kingdom is empty as the evacuation is successful.

Zynne: Queen? Did you come to greet us?

Calice: Quiet! Corrupted one!!

Zynne: Its too bad… and we came all the way here to meet you. Ehehe… Well… to take you, to be more precise.

Calice: I’ll never let you take my soul!

Zynne: You have no choice… it’s a waste… you quite a beauty. Ahahahah!

Calice: Quit fooling around! You’re here to fight aren’t you!?

Zynne: I’m more on the reserved side. If you’re willing to become ours we will let all of the other spirits live.

Calice: I don’t buy it.

Zynne: And why not?

Calice: I have never seen such corrupted soul like yours. There may be no saving for you…

Nelus: Knowing that you’ll kill them anyway right?

Zynne: So true… there is no need for such creatures in this world… pfftt!! hahahhaaahhhahaahhahahahhhahaahahahahh ONLY THE UNDEAD IS WORTHY TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD!!! WITH YOUR SOUL I”LL CREATE THE PERFECT UNDEAD AND I WILL DWELL WITHIN IT MAKING ME THE MOST POWERFUL LICH!!!

Nelus: You’re quite mad aren’t you.

Zynne: Heh… So it seems… but it is worth it.

Calice: Kuh… Die human…

Zynne: I can’t move?

Calice: Try dodging this.

Calice used her spell to capture him as she then summons a bow made of searing white flames as she fires an arrow with the same material. The arrow closes the distance towards the necromancer as it just disappears.

Calice: What!?… an X ranked attack… easily countered...

Zynne: Hahahah! The soul orb can absorb any soul within a range… it is yours and the spirits’ greatest weakness as all of you are made of souls. Soul orb… absorb her!

Calice: Gaahhh…. I won’t go down without a fight… (I can’t move… its too painful…)

Zynne: As expected of the queen… as for some of your spirits I instantly absorbed them… making these perfect undead. Heh…

Calice: Y-you monster!! You mean… my closest friend that disappeared… she…

Zynne: Is dead!! Hahaha! it is for the good of all!!

Calice: I’ll kill you!!!

Zynne: You can’t. All soul based attack can’t affect me.

Calice: Guh… Huh the pain stopped…!!??

Nelus: Kuh…

Calice: Lord Nelus…

As Calice was kneeling in pain. I forced myself to move in front of her to obstruct the orb for a moment to let me cast spatial barrier around her.

Calice: L-lord Nelus!?

Nelus: Stay there… let me handle this… I promised to get it for you right?

Calice: R-right…

Zynne: What did you do!? I can’t absorb her anymore!

Nelus: I temporarily cut her of from this world.

Zynne: Grr… getting in my way like this… soul orb!

Tons of undead form as well as some soul formed undead mixed in trying to hold me down.

Frei: Now!!

From the bushes Frei and the others attacked the necromancers controlling some of the undead.

Zynne: My brothers!! .

A large hand made of bones spring forth from the ground as it grabs Fala.

Frei: Fala!! !! !!!

Frei charges at the large hand but nothing happened… only scratches that are visible can be seen from his torrent of attacks.

Zynne: So bothersome… absorb her soul…

Fala: Gaaaaahhhh!!!!!

Frei: F-Fala!!

Zynne: It is your fault for obstructing my plans and killing my brothers!

Frei: Glacial Slice! Glacial Slice! GLACIAL SLICE!!!

Fala: Its okay… Frei… save… the… others…

Frei: N-no… noooooo!!!!!

Zynne: Its no use!! You cannot break my spell! *smile* you are just a S rank.

The space around Frei started to distort… his fur becoming a color near bluish platinum. His daggers become much slender and well formed as he shouts… … He walks towards the giant hand holding Fala as ice erupts from the ground that where step on as he says in a cold deep tone… Glacial Slice. He cuts apart the giants hand as if it was just air as it burst into thin particles. He then catches the unconscious Fala into his hands as her then glares at Zynne.

Zynne: Kuh…impossible… an ascension right here!? I’ll kill that elf girl instead!!

Frei: You never learn!!

Nelus: You leave me no choice…

Zynne: What are you on about?

???: *Glow*

Nelus: (I’ll just unseal my spatial ability for a moment… before I lose control…) .

I then summoned a multi-directional gravitational force to damage the soul orb as using a large scale spatial magic might become too risky as it might affect the others as I am losing control.

Zynne: M-my precious undead…!?... the soul orb is breaking… nooo!!!

In the spur of the moment, Zynne casted a spell, , towards me which let me have no time to avoid it. I came in contact with me but nothing happened...

Zynne: This can’t be… it should be able to kill anyone with the same rank or below mine… y-you’re an X rank too!?

Nelus: (Technically I’m a Y rank…)

Zynne: All of you just keep getting on my way… fine then… I’ll use this… !!

Zynne summons a soul formed undead and exchanged its core with his soul.

Zynne: So much power!!! I can feel it!

Calice: What horrific power…

Nelus: (God’s Eyes)

Zynne:  Even with an A ranked soul formed undead manage to ascend me too… too bad if it was with the queens soul, it would make an X rank soul formed undead… such a shame… oh well.

Zynne: I summon... !… Come my undead!

Flashes of blue forms around Zynne like a tornado of blades using his skill, … but it was all somehow parried by Zynne using his sword made of light and darkness. He then slashes at what it seems to be an empty space but somehow hits Frei as if predicting him, as Frei suddenly was blown away due to the hit as trickles of blood drips from his mouth.

Zynne: No one can ever defeat me… now I see that the elf girl is more important to you then the two beastmen… I’ll kill her… and let us see how you feel from being taken from.Just like when you took away my dreams of having the ultimate form!! !

Zynne then used a spell as a large ray of light and darkness headed straight towards Reila, it was the spell, Chaos Blast. As it was all happening in front of Nelus… he snapped…

Reila: Aahh!!

???: *Glow*

Nelus appeared in front of Reila, blocking the ray with his body.

Zynne: *Laugh* How does it feel!! My newfound power!

Nelus: I’LL KILL YOU!!! I”LL DESTROY YOU!!!

Reila: L-Lord Nelus?

Zynne: Lets see you tr…

Nelus: "Divine Combat Style: Stance 6, Arclight Fang"

I formed pure light element on my fingers as I then thrust my hand on both sides of his ribs as it then shatters into pieces.

Zynne: What!? Then…

Nelus: That won't work. "Divine Combat Style: Stance 13, Luminous Counter]!!

Zynne fired a curse type spell, Nox Dread of the Dark, against me as I then disappear before the black misty fog hits me, as I then reappeared in front of him while giving him a torrent of unimaginably large amount light based attacks which made him slowly crumble as he struggles and kneel before me.

Zynne: S-stop!!! I give!! PLEASE SPARE ME!!!!!

Nelus:  "Divine Combat Style: Stance 4 Arclight Force"!!!

I then formed pure white light around my body as I then rushed at him in all directions leaving an innumerable amount of afterimages crushing him into dust as a huge crater is starting to form.

Zynne: …

Calice: (S-so powerful…)

Nelus: DIVINE COMBAT STY…

Reila: Lord Nelus!!!

Before finishing my attack Reila suddenly calls my name as she holds down my arm… she looks quite wounded… as I look around us the forest is in a bad shape… good thing that the kingdom is somewhat unaffected… I snapped out of my fury and looked at Reila. She smiles at me before she lost her consciousness, I then catch her. It seems that my torrent of attacks affected those around me. Frei tried to put Reila and Fala into safety but Reila insisted on stopping me before I destroy the whole forest… it happened again… I released the barrier around Calice as she then approached us.

Calice: …

Nelus: Thank you…

Calice: You did save us after all.

Nelus: The soul orb…

Calice: Don’t worry about that. The lives of the other spirits are more important and who knows if the other humans might think of taking it again and use it for dirty deeds.

Nelus: Still I’m sorry I’ll find a way to help you somehow.

Calice: Don’t worry about it.

Days have passed since the incident and we were ready to depart from the kingdom of spirits. Every spirit was thankful especially those who lost some of their family because of Zynne. We then wave goodbye as we depart to the west.

Calice: Hahh... They’re gone… Lord Nelus was quite cool at that time… that’s it! I made my decision! I’ll form a spiritual link with Nelus!! Ehehe…But I’ll make it a surprise and show myself when it is time. Hidden Link. Form Spiritual Link… Nelus.
