Chapter 19 – Double Team

We readied ourselves towards the confrontation. Reila and Fala hid behind the structures and cast support spells on us. Jerald and Mila readied their bows and jumped on a house pointing towards Geran.

Geran: Entertain me! Before I take your lives and become stronger!

I cast one of my main spells. as clouds gather on my hands forming a glove like shape as lightning surges. I rushed towards him to land a punch but as I got near him he slashes his scythe towards me in a diagonal motion. I grabbed the scythe edge with one hand to stop its movement.

Geran: Fool! Blocking my bone scythe with your bare hands! I’ll cut it of… I-I… can’t move my scythe…

???: *Glow*

Geran: What terrifying killing intent…

Nelus: (Control my breathing… don’t let it control you…) Frei.

Frei: Yes!

Frei jumps off with great speed and summons his usual daggers made of ice. In midair, he plunges his dagger inside his empty eye socket and casts Glacial Burst as the dagger explodes in a flurry of sharp ice inside Geran’s skull.

Geran: Guaahh!!

Even  with Geran's scream Frei remained vigilant as Geran then laughed calmly, Frei remained silent and glared at him.

Geran: Heh... Just kidding… do you know why we apocalypse are feared?

Geran burst into pieces as his bones scatter everywhere using . Confused, Frei and I stood still and for an instance let down our guard as the bones turn to dust. Just then the dust moves and reformed behind Frei as he pierces his left arm with his scythe.

Geran: Now…

Geran said as he then laughed, enjoying himself. We suddenly hear cracking sounds as Frei suddenly trembles in pain. It was his bone that the scythe hit that started to crumble, it was Geran's skill .

Fala: Frei!!!

Fala became frantic as Ice started to cover his breaking arm as it stops the crumbling. She used a support ice spell, Ice coat.

Frei: Gaahh… thanks… Fala, I’m okay… I can still fight!

Geran: So funny!!  hahhahahahahh!!!

Fala: How dare you do that! .

Fala unconsciously used an ice battle magic spell as large amount of freezing air circulates around Geran as it all suddenly clashes towards him freezing him instantly. Grand Ice Stream... so she is able to use battle magic too.

Mila: So scary… I’m feeling sorry for those who might try to seduce Frei now…

I executed a flurry of punches as the frozen Geran shatters into pieces.

Geran smile while feigning his defeat.

Geran: Ahh… you killed me… how… grand…

Jerald: !!

Geran: Hahaahaha! It passed through me! Let me try and see if it passes through you too.

One of the five smaller bone blades embedded on the scythe suddenly shot towards Jerald, it was his skill bone shot. As Jerald didn’t have time to dodge, Mila suddenly appeared in front of him to stop it and blood gushed from her pierced hand.

Geran: Bone… Break hehehhe...

We hear a crumbling sound again, this time coming from Mila’s hand as it slowly crumbles. Fala cast again  Ice coat to stop it as Mila lost consciousness due to the immense pain.

Jerald: Mila… Youu!!!

Jerald summons an estoc made of wind and rushed at Geran with fury. Geran easily repels the thrusts of Jerald leaving him vexed. Still, Jerald cotinue to attack Atir with great speed.

Geran: You should look behind you.

The bone that was launched returned towards Geran with a trajectory that it will pierce Jerald. I cast to change its trajectory and succeeded.

Geran: Stop meddling on my fun!

Frei: Jerald! Find a safe place for Mila to heal… we can handle this.

Jerald: No! I…

Nelus: Go… find somewhere safe, your lives takes are a greater priority... Mila is injured...

Jerald: Kuhh…

Geran: Can’t have you running now can we?

He fires another bone blade heading towards the unconscious Mila as Jerald became frantic.

Jerald: Milaaa!!!

Fala: Not a chace!!

Fala used the spell and formed path made of dense ice and intercepted the bone blade only inches away before it hits her head. Jerald lost the strength on both of his legs as he keeled and sighed in relief.

Jerald: Mila…

Nelus: Go now… don’t let rage control you.

Jerald: … Fala thank you… Lord Nelus… please protect everyone…

Jerald jumps off towards Mila and carries her away.

Geran: I won't let you get away!

Geran throws his scythe towards Jerald. As it was nearing them I used "Divine Combat Style: Stance 9, Flash Assault" and disappeared from my initial position and swatted the scythe away with my left hand and glared at him as he then trembles.

Nelus: …

Geran: Guhh… Stop glaring at me!!

The scythe tried to follow Jerald again and again only to be obstructed by me.  I then grabbed the scythe and threw it with great force as it heads towards Geran and the bladed part of the scythe gains contact with his chest.

Geran: Hah!! My scythe can only pierce others not me.

Nelus: Does it matter?

I said in a cold toe as I used Flash Assault and disappeared as I then reappeared in front him.

Frei: Lord Nelus! Gah!

Frei intercepts the scythe headed towards me using Glacial Slice as I stare at him with disdain.

Geran: You…

Nelus: ("Divine Combat Style: Stance 7, Lightspeed Rush")

I started to punch and kick him from all directions while adding to my feet also. Afterimages kept appearing everywhere and volts of lightning kept roaring from each strike. We can hear cracking sounds but this time coming from Geran.

Geran: Kaahhhh!!! (I have no choice but to use this… it will make me temporarily, incredibly weak but I can use it to kill everyone here and use that chance to escape.) !!

Cracking noise can be heard from Reila, Frei, Fala, Geran and I. He used a spell that crumbles all the bones within a certain area including himself. It slowly affects Frei and I due to our physique but as for Fala and Reila great pain and a faster rate of crumbling occurred. Amidst the chaos we grabbed Reila and Fala to get away for a moment as we spot Jerald guarding a house. We went inside and saw… 2 people other than Jerald… it was Mila and… Tiana…

Reila: You!? The shadow from before…

Nelus: You're covered in wounds… did Geran do this?

Tiana: Run away… he is here… he killed everyone here… and dissolved them in acid…

Nelus: Who is here?

Tiana: The Serpent…

Nelus: …

Reila: L-lord Nelus…

Nelus: I see so he is here… there is also an apocalypse outside…

Tiana: So our fight and his killings… attracted an apocalypse huh…

Frei: Is that why the village is devoid of people?

Tiana: Yes… as I was wandering around I sensed that dastardly familiar poisoned air and know HE was here… I tried to get my revenge so I followed the source of the air and found him… laughing as he killed the people… I attacked him and he fought back… I used my Shadow Flame but he sliced it like it was nothing… I ran and hid as he followed me… luckily he suddenly turned around with an amused face and left me… I don’t know what catches his attention but it saved me…

Reila: .

Tiana: Thank you… also I’m sorry from before… I need your help to defeat him… I know you don’t have any relation to this but…

Jerald: We do… he killed our supreme elder…

Tiana: I see…

Nelus: What is your relation to the serpent?

Tiana: He tried to kill my grandmother… luckily my father was there and defended her but…

Nelus: …

Tiana: He cut my grandmothers mana flow… now all of us tries to gather massive amounts of mana for her… but it isn’t enough… she is nearing her limit… I wanted to kill him before my grandmother… and avenge her… to tell her that…!

Nelus: Enough… we will help you…

Tiana: Thank you…

Tiana said as she bit her lip, and clenching her fists in anger.

On Geran’s side…

Geran: My body… they will pay!!

???: Hahhaaha

Geran: Who are you! Why are you laughing!! I’ll kill you!

???: I was just having fun watching the show.

Geran: Wh-what is this large power that I sense!! Tell me! Who are you!?

Atir: My name is Atir and I will be the one to kill them.

Geran: They are my prey! Leave!

Atir: Tell you what. I only want the silver haired elf girl. You can take the other’s life. In exchange I’ll give you this…

Atir then threw a tied piece of cloth with something inside, towards Geran. Geran then opens the cloth revealing a black spherical stone with peculiar carvings.

Geran: What is this?

Atir: It is a sealed dark stone. Once I unseal it, it will let the holder ascend.

Geran: Ascension!! Wait… you’re not fooling me are you?

Atir: I’m not, you see I already ascended so I don’t need it anymore.

Geran: A natural ascension huh?

Atir: Yes… and I was saving it for myself… who knew I would ascend earlier. Heh...

Geran: Hahah! You’re interesting… fine it’s a deal!

Atir: Excellent. Unseal!

Geran: Hahahahahah my power!! It is all returning! I’m exceeding my limits!! So this is the feeling of becoming a rank X… wonderful!!

Atir: Now lets have some fun playing with those insects…

Geran: Yes… we shall…  hhahahahhahhahhah…  

Geran laughed maniacally as a dark grin appears on his face and blood lust started to emanate from him.
