Chapter 38 – Lord of the Cave

As I continued to teach Rezald and Yora, I noticed that the three girls Zala, Mosie and Nillie were close to falling asleep as all of them slowly dozes off. I signaled the two to stop as they made disappointed expressions. I pointed towards the three and they seem to understand. They were embarrassed to have forgotten their initial reason why they were here in the first place. They then called out to the three as the stood up with grumpy expressions.

Mosie: Hahh… finally…

Nillie: Can we go now?

Nelus: Yes.

Rezald and Yora: We are sorry…

Zala: Hmph!

Seeing Zala’s reaction made Yora even more depressed and apologetic as he made a downcast face. We then continued on to the next floor. I asked Rezald if any of then knows anything about this cave and they all gave vague answers… It seems that nobody has managed to get to the bottom so far as they didn’t have any need to. There were no treasures in this cave and also the only thing valuable here is the Nawons. They appear at the seventh floor and so on.

As we reached the third floor, there was a group of magical beasts in here. One was a bat like creature with four wings, the Ciopla, Spiders with horns, the Drisulas and leeches with legs, the Miltice. Seeing the group of monsters most of the girls shrieked except for Zala trying to hold in her voice as she reassured the other girls with an ashen face as she tries to calm them down.

Mosie: Eeeepp!!!

Nillie: Eeekkk!!! I hate spiders!

Zala: I-Its alright I will protect you!

Mosie and Nillie: Big sis Zala!!

Nelus: …

Hearing Mosie and Nillie, Zala’s face becomes determined as she readies her twin sabers. With great speed she rushes towards them as she then jumps to the middle of them. She then imbued some divinity into her sabers and slashes all the enemies within her range like a tornado, using "Angelic Combat: Sword Style, Glint Hurricane". Each time an enemy gets slashed by her sword, a fine line made of light shines on them before they split into pieces. As she sheathes her twin sabers dashingly before they disappeared, Mollie, Nillie and Yora blushed seeing how cool Zala was, making her very satisfied. She then looks towards my direction…

Zala: Nelus, how was I?

Nelus: You did great.

Zala: Really?

Nelus: Also, lets conserve our strength we are still far from the 7th floor.

Zala: Alright.

Zala smiled happily as she follows Nelus. heading further, we noticed that there were two paths diverged in the middle.

Nillie: Why don’t we head to the right first?

Nelus: Sure.

Further we go, we start hearing noises… it seemed like water flowing. So far there were no magical beast and so they became a little paranoid. Finally, we reach the source… it was a waterfall. Nillie and the others had sparkling eyes while Zala had a wary expression on her face. As they ran towards the waterfall, Zala tried to stop them.

Zala: Hey, wait!!!

Yora: Water!

Nillie: I’m so thirsty…

Rezald: I’m dying of thirst…

They didn’t look that thirsty when we got here? I then look towards Zala and it looks like even she was getting thirsty… I didn’t need water in the first place so I wasn’t affected. I am starting to feel that something was wrong… suddenly, as the three get close to the water, I can sense a large life signature coming up from the water. I quickly rush towards the three and grab them as a large jaw came from the water trying to bite them. It was a gator like creature that is 3 meters high and 7 meters long. It was an S class magical beast called, Argaian.

It seems to release a certain scent in the air that makes the individuals near it think that they are thirsty, luring it towards the water as it predates on them. I then used on them as they snapped out of it. I noticed that they were still a little out of it. I then decided to take on the monster myself. As it lunges towards me, I used on my hand. It then tries to bite my arm which electrocuted it, while the bite didn’t do any damage to me. I then called Rezald to watch. I used the spell as a large wall of lightning appeared above the Argaian. As the lightning crashes down towards the Argaian, it convulses and shouts in pain as it was being crushed into the ground with lightning. I then jumped on top of it and punched my fist on the wall of lightning as it completely obliterates it while its flesh and blood scatters everywhere. I then used to cover them from the pieces of the beast. Rezald then looks at me with sparkling eyes while the other look at the beast’s corpse in disgust.

We then decided to go towards the other path and notice that it was heading downwards. It was the path to the fourth floor. As we reach the end of the rocky tunnel, there was a huge space completely filled with magical beasts. We then readied ourselves for this confrontation. It seems that this number of beast is too much for them so I decided to instruct them so that even while fighting, Zala and I can protect them.

Nelus: Stay behind us. We will handle the full brunt of the beasts. As for you guys, handle those that passes through, Zala.

Zala: Yes.

As Zala and I, rushes towards the group of beasts, I used to freeze as many as I can. Some of the beast then jumps over the ice and tries to attack me. Zala then intercepts it with her swords and cuts it to pieces. As some of the Cioplas attacks the others, Yora then rushes in and slashed some of their wings while Rezald casts to the group of incoming Drisulas. As some of the Drisulas managed to get pass them, they released a net made of web towards Mosie. As Mosie was helpless under the net, some of the Drisulas opens their mouth to kill her.

Mosie: No! Don’t come any closer!!

Yora: Mosie!!!

Yora then dashes in between Mosie and the Drisulas. As his sword glows an ominous gray, Yora’s eyes bulged in anger and disappeared. He then reappeared behind the Drisulas as they stood motionless… it was one of the moves I taught him, .

Rezald: Whoooaaa!! So cool!!

Yora: So that was …

Nelus: So you managed to learn it.

Zala: Why don’t you use your sword too Nelus?

Yora: You can use a sword!?

Nelus: Corhylis, come.

With Nelus’ call, a pure white sword appeared on his hand. Yora and the others were dumbfounded as they felt an overwhelming amount of pressure emanating from it as it pushes them down.

Yora: I-I can’t move…

Nillie: Wh-what is happening?

Zala: I can move just fine.

Nelus: (So I can’t use this around them…)

As they stood motionless, the other magical beasts took this chance to get close to them. Nelus then rushes forward as he slashes with great speed annihilating one beast after the other with Zala supporting from behind. After the battle, Nelus releases Corhylis and looked towards the other group.

Rezald: …I can move!

Zala: So troublesome…

Nelus: Anyways let us continue.

As we continue to go further, we managed to find the path that leads to the fifth floor. It was hidden behind a large rock.

Yora: Here it is!

So far there weren’t any problems and things were going smoothly…

Zala: Why is the fifth floor empty?

Yora: Hah! This will be easier than I thought!!

Nillie: “Easy” for you! If it weren’t for Nelus and Zala we wouldn’t even have made this far!!

Yora: I know… hahh… I guess I can be kind of arrogant at times…

Mosie: At times!? At knight school you always tend to show off!! And when someone duels you, in the end you always ignore them, even if they tried to salute you!!

Yora: It is because they’re weak!! I can’t respect someone who is weaker than me!

Rezald: Hahaha! That is the reason why we’re the only friends you have! And also why you have so many enemies!!

Yora: N-not enemies, rivals! Ri-vals!!!

Nelus: I can smell the scent of blood…

Zala: I don’t smell anything…

Nelus: It is quite faint.

All of them were surprised at Nelus’ sudden declaration. They gripped their weapon hard as they remained vigilant. While proceeding, they noticed the path towards the sixth floor…

Nillie: Ughh… I can smell it…

Rezald: It smells like something is rotting…

Mosie: Do we really need to go down there?

Nelus: Hahh… here…

Seeing as the four were having hard time breathing, I gave them one of my artifacts. The purification crystal… it has the effects of nullifying curses, poison, diseases and things that will have any negative effect on the holder… though it can’t nullify high rank ones… it can only nullify up to C class. It was only a rotting smell so it didn’t have a hard time nullifying it. It can only have an effect up to a certain range though.

Nillie: What about Zala?

Zala: Don’t worry about me, I cast a simple light barrier around myself.

Nelus: As for me, I don’t mind the smell.

All of them look at me with blue faces including Zala.

Zala: Y-you’re joking right? N-Nelus?

Rezald: I-I mean… he is an X rank…

Nellie: What does that have to do with the smell!?

Passing the pathway, we finally saw what was causing the stench. All of them went pale as some of them almost vomited. Everywhere, blood was on the floor, different kinds of corpses lying around whether it was a human, beastman, gnome and many more including magical beasts. In the middle of it all were a group of Nawons and a three-tailed lizard that closely resembles a dragon… God’s Eyes…

Suddenly, Zala and the four were coated in a white light and collapsed into the floor. I then cast around them… I am also coated in the same white light but nothing is happening…

???: HAHAHA!! AMUSING!! SO YOU AREN’T AFFECTED AT ALL?!? OH!! SO IT CAN AFFECT YOU!!

A deep and loud voice bellowed.

Nelus: Who are you?

Domun: THE ONE IN FRONT OF YOU, WHO ELSE! DOMUN!!

Nelus: What did you do to them?

I felt worried seeing them tremble as a trickle of blood comes out of their mouths…

Domun: I JUST SENT THEM TO WHAT I CALL THE EXECUTION ZONE AND YOU WILL FOLLOW!!!

Nelus: ?

Domun: YOU’LL SEE! AMUSE ME MORE BEFORE YOUR DEATH JUST LIKE THE ONES OVER THERE!!

He then pointed at the corpses lying around. I tried to use different artifacts and magic as none seems to work… it can’t get rid of this whitish aura around me… As it completely covers me, I see around me a familiar white space… except there was nothing… unlike Leo’s who at least had some land or something. Suddenly, a being appeared, he was the same one from before except smaller. He then looks at me with disdain as he snorted.

Domun: Welcome to the execution zone! What happens here also happens in the real world so be careful! Don’t just die too easily!

Domun said happily as he snickered and then laughs uncontrollably.

Domun: You see, so far many of your kind have been hunting my brethren so I decided to act for the first time a few years ago… The feeling when I killed someone for the first time… it was so ecstatic!!

Domun said while panting disgustingly as he looks at Nelus as if he had found a new toy.

Domun: I have been living in the deepest floor of the cave since I was born… I have witnessed many things as I am one of the early residents of this world!! The evolution of the beings! The changes that have occurred in the world! At first it was quite enjoyable… but after an innumerable amount of years… it has started to be… hmm… what is the word that can best describe it… ahh! “dull”… so I decided to go against the rule that the Gods gave me and here I am trying to amass power so that I can finally break the seal and leave this awful cave!

Nelus: …

Domun: Hmm… what? Speechless? Come on! You can ask me anything.

Domun's expression suddenly became serious.

Nelus: What happens here happens in the real world?

Domun: Yes, so once you have died here then you will also die in the real world.

Nelus: No one can interrupt nor sense what is happening here?

Domun: Of course, not even the Gods can see this place.

Nelus: What about our capabilities?

Domun: I can’t decrease yours but I can increase mine. Well, as if you could do anything so entertain me while you're at it. If you don’t act fast you’re friends are going to die.

Nelus: …

I really appreciate it and it might be painful for some of you to read but as a human I am quite capable of improving. :-) I want to make a fiction that most enjoys, that is my goal.
