Chapter 29.5 – Worry

Genbalt’s POV

Governing isn’t an easy matter yet it is something a God wants to do. It is part of our lives. Even for me, a God who wants to be completely free, does not mind in getting bounded to our world, to the beings that I created, my children… I remember when the first being that I made. I asked Nebulus to come with me to brag… thinking about it now makes me chuckle. Though it saddens me… to see my children get sick, to see them fight each other, kill each other and die…

They are very interesting, each unique from each other. I like how they love and care about each other. I need to properly look after them and they quite like their silly God which is me. Even if it really is not me… the way I was raised… to follow… I wanted to be like my mother, as free as the wind not bounded like the earth… maybe I am both, free and bound that is why I am the God of the Earth and Sky. I am an intellectual yet I have the façade of the current me… I think Nebulus can see through my façade but it is only my speculation.

Nebulus is like the older brother I didn’t have. I am worried about him, I have experienced many friends, some sincere, and some not. What he needs is someone who truly cares about him. I look at my private mirror and saw that my children are calling for me… it is that time. Each year they call for my prescience to bless their kindred and form a link. I walked towards it to see a muscled humanoid bird race. It was the garuda race.

Garuda Maiden: My lord!

Genbalt: Jacil.

Jacil: These here are the youth of our race may you bless them for years to come and live in your honor.

Genbalt: May it be so.  

I smiled as the people who looked at my image bowed and awed at my presence.

Afterwards, they transformed into their bird forms as they all danced in the moonlight. It was a bewitching sight which made me even more proud of them. As they bid farewell for now, Jacil bowed and thanked me again. Sometime my children call me to bless them before they go to war… which is what I hated the most as there will be many casualties. This time is the phoenix race. The phoenix maiden called for me in the kings meeting.

Phoenix King: My lord!

Genbalt: Crasi.

Phoenix Maiden: Have you been well my lord?

Genbalt: Yes, Kiena.

Crasi: We ask for your blessing with our war with the humans.

Genbalt: Do you really need to go to war?

Crasi: Yes my lord…

I sighed. Crasi seems to notice my worry and reassured me that they will retreat when things go dire. Kiena apologized and I just smiled as I know that even if I forbade them, war cannot be stopped as maybe the humans will attack them and I don’t want to see my precious children die… the humans use grave mages to seal their bodies and flush out their soul as it is then delivered to me. They are like necromancers… I then prayed for their safety as they head on to war. Before the princess turn of the connection between our mirrors. The humans attacked… it was a sneak attack.

Crasi: Quickly! Formation! Long Range Pure energy users go to the top of the castle and bombard the humans!

There was a huge explosion as Kiena was knocked unconscious. As I tried to call out to wake up Kiena a little child appeared and pulled Kiena towards under the table with all of her might. One of the humans entered. As they saw me they bowed as I am also one of the creators of Alxia. I created the Trees and beasts that they use for food, the air they breathe, and the land that they stand on.

General: Lord Genbalt… so this is what you look like…

Genbalt: How dare you kill my children in front of me!

General: I am sorry but this is our will, we fight to survive…

Genbalt: What do you even need!? Food to eat? Land? I can provide all those but why do you need to fight, to kill!?

General: …

Genbalt: Please leave my domain… so many have died… it is my only wish.

The general bit his lip as he looks at me with self-loathing for his doings… I know it was the wish of their king… that tyrant… that is why I decided to be lenient… that corrupted city of Terga… they never expected for me to be present to see their doings.

General: My men… lets go…

Swordsman: But sir!

General: Do you really wish to continue the war in front of Lord Genbalt… there is some lines that must never be crossed… lord Genbalt loves all life and doesn’t wish to see such carnage…

Swordsman: …

The swordsman looks down as they head back to their city. In the first place, it is one of our rules that we cannot be called upon during wars and such. Only to bless and to look over… it keeps the order of things… Murix told me. If my presence can stop wars then why can’t they do so? I once asked Murix… She then told me that you can’t truly stop wars and deaths… it is part of the balance. New lives were born and another dies…

As the priestess was carried to her room, they bowed. As they left, one stayed… it was the little girl from before.

Genbalt: Hello there! What is your name?

I smiled as I look towards the blushing little girl.

Seiry: A-aa-aa… umm Seiry…

Genbalt: What a wonderful name.

I then used God’s Eyes.

Seiry: Is that really you lord Genbalt?

Seiry had a silly confused face when she saw me which made me laugh harder. She pouts as I continued and showed a pleased smile which made her look in awe.

Genbalt: You known what! You can use the mirror anytime to talk to me.

Crasi: My lord!?

Crasi suddenly enters the room. I seem to have already noticed that he was listening in.

Seiry: Really!?

Genbalt: She has the potential to be a maiden. Why not?

Since then, during night she calls upon me to chat and talk to as it seems she was having fun doing so. I told her different stories about different worlds and about the other Gods. She smiled and laughed. I then told her that tomorrow, I will show her something interesting. I then go to Nebulus’ realm as he was at the meeting of the God Kings and looked for the thought crystal, it is a low class artifact. Also, the Cosmo ring which can project the image you want to a certain place.

Seiry: Lord Genbalt… what is it you want to show me?

Genbalt: Do you wish to see how we Gods see the world?

Seiry: I do!

I activated the ring as Seiry was suddenly standing on darkness. What she saw is my memory at the realm where stars surrounded us, planets were everywhere and galaxies the holds them inside it. She was truly excited as she ran around. She tried to touch the stars as her finger passes through.

Genhalt: Seiry, are you enjoying yourself?

Seiry: Yes my lord!

Genbalt: I see!

I smiled in satisfaction as I forgot that these artifacts belonged to Nebulus in the first place.

Genbalt: Did you know Seiry?

Seiry: ?

Genbalt: We Gods… can read minds!

Seiry: R-really!?

Genbalt: Do you want an example?

Seiry: Yes!

Genbalt: Let me see… right now you are thinking about… a meadow… completely full of different kinds of flowers! Fraose Meadow!

Seiry: Amazing! I always go there to see the flowers.

Genbalt: You really love them don’t you.

Seiry: Yes!

Years passed by and I started to talk about Nebulus as it piqued her the most. A God king… her eyes sparkled that there was someone stronger than even me. At one time I use the cosmo ring to project what Nebulus looks like while he was reading a book. When I told her that he was always alone so I always tried to visit him and talked to him, sadness invaded her. She asked me what happened next… I told her that we became best of friends. She smiled.

Seiry: Can I ever meet him?

Genbalt: Hmm? Why did you ask?

Seiry: I want to be his friend too like lord Genbalt. Before I met lord Genbalt, I too was always alone… always in my room because of being a princess.

Genbalt: Then… can you become his link?

Seiry: Eh? B-but the one I want to link to is lord Genbalt…

Genbalt: We are already linked… even if I didn’t bestow you blessings and such, our friendship is our link…

Seiry: I see!

Genbalt: Also if someone will link with that guy maybe now he’ll have a reason to leave his room.

Seiry: …

I grinned and looked at her gently.

Genbalt: It is something I can only ask of you as you are closest to me… I never did have the chance to talk to others and if I suddenly told them to link with a God that they don’t know… I know they will refuse.

Seiry: Alright my lord! I will do my best!

Genbalt: Good! Then it will be our little surprise! To that friend of mine.

I laughed at thinking of what will Nebulus’ reaction when he finds out that he suddenly has a link… I will tell him 25 years later as I can only set up a partial link as it needs Nebulus’ recognition to be a full fledge link other than that, I can only set up a full link towards Nebulus once she reaches that age.

Another few years passed and suddenly… as Seiry returned from Fraose meadow… she looked frantic and shouted.

Seiry: I’m sorry my lord I have failed to keep our surprise.

I didn’t have time to notice her sudden call on the mirror as I was still talking to one of the maidens of my land. When she called me again she told me that she saw Nebulus. I became frantic.

Genbalt: Eh!? This can’t be… you’re link became a full one!?

Seiry: I saw him in Fraose Meadow.

Genbalt: Is there a connection mirror there?

Seiry: No… I saw him… in person.

I tried to read her mind to see her memories and there he was… this can’t be… a God cannot leave the realm no matter what… should I tell the others? No! Maybe it is better if others will not find out… Nebulus… what did you get yourself into… if you really can leave the realm or the pantheon then… this will be really bad if others find out… I can’t just ask him this time… I’ll wait for his word about it… I trust him.

One day it seems that suddenly a lake appeared in Niilos Wasteland… only a God has the power to create such a thing like that… a huge lake…  I told one of my beings to get a water sample. They didn’t asked but done so. I examined the water and put a little mana powder to increase the essence while extracting the mana print as I compare it with the other God’s print… it belongs to neither of them. I compared it to Nebulus’ and there it is a match… so he really does have the power to leave our realm… luckily only I know the way to extract the mana print… so the others can’t easily find out about this

Moments later I visited the realm and there he is…

???: My lord… it seems a lake appeared on Niilos Wasteland…

???: Hmm… I don’t remember any of us creating it...

???: I see…

???: For now investigate… maybe it is just a land fall or something… while an aquifer is beneath it… but just to be sure that the other Gods aren’t doing something that is against the rules… also it might be the work of an otherworldly being… if so I must report it.

???: I see… I will do as you say my lord…

???: Thank you.
