Chapter 27 – Birth of My Friend

Days had passed since we got here and at present we are staying at Jisa’s mansion. On the past few days everything had been peaceful so far. I found out that there seems to be a store here that sells information artifacts with certain topics within it, those that interest me like “History of the Winged One”, ”Beings of Divinity” and such I bought right away.

Jisa scolded me that I shouldn’t only use my wealth for just books and have fun, eat and enjoy my time. I then told her that I am enjoying myself. She sighed and forced me to eat with her at a restaurant together. While eating, she often sneaks glances at me which made me curious, I ask her about it and she didn’t answer and just became flustered somehow. We went back to the mansion and found out that Frei was trying to teach Fala to cook.

During the time Fala was sick, she was fed luxurious foods for healing. It was taught to Frei by the red spirit so it seems. Jisa also tried to cook but it ended up horrendous, because of her dissatisfaction she tried to find someone who can sympathize with her so she asked me if I can cook.

The results were… she became teary eyed and walked away. I asked Frei if my food was satisfactory… his eyes sparkled while saying “As expected of Lord Nelus” as both Fala and Frei ate the dish I made heartily. After a while Jisa joined in with eating my dish as all of them were at cloud nine. I tend to Altan before I head out.

I went to the front of the palace as I was given permission to read near the royal garden by Runice. I encountered her at the store and told me if I like books. I told her yes and brought me here as it was a great reading spot which I agree. Sometimes, she joins me in my reading. In these past few days I am also trying to get used to using Kaikus.

I sometimes go to the Niilos wasteland to train. At first I tried to practice using a big spell to measure my fire control capability but it didn’t go so well. I can’t control my output like the earth, wind, water, ice and lightning spells. I need to get used to using fire even if I don’t have an aptitude with it.

It happened like this…

Frei: Lord Nelus where are you going? Isn’t the palace that way? Usually you go read at the garden at this time.

Nelus: I’ve decided to practice a bit… right now the only fire element spell I can completely control is Fire Barrier.

Frei: Then how about we spar?

Nelus: Hmm… well experience is a more effective way of getting use to it…

As we go down the mountain, we decided to go further away to be safe.

Frei: Lord Nelus, before we spar show me how capable you are with your fire magic.

Nelus: Alright…

I turned around and cast an X rank spell, it should have the same output as … A large ball of condense flames appeared on my hands as the surrounding land around my feet started to melt, the ball started to become distorted as time passes and Frei was starting to panic.

Frei: Lord Nelus! Quickly!! Throw it as far as possible!!!

Nelus: Kuh…

The large ball of distorted fire flew meters away from us as I used special magic to further the distance as I cast a around us. As the ball made contact with the land a large explosion can be heard as Frei covered is ears. Everything around the barrier went pure white for second as everything then became silent. Frei opened his eyes and asked me…

Frei: Wh-what happened…

Nelus: …

There was a massive crated around us, as large as a kingdom. Inside it was melted earth… lava flowing endlessly around us. The magical beast near the explosion vanished, as for those farther away what was left were a pile of burned bones and ashes.

Frei: L-Lord Nelus… I don’t think even I can survive that… lets… not spar after all...

Nelus: …

Frei said with a pale face as he looks around the wasteland.

Nelus: I only know S and X ranked fire element spells…

Frei: Lets go to the store and find you some basic fire spells for the time being…

Nelus: Agreed...

I then cast and at my usual output to put out the mess I made and it seems that it wasn’t enough… it just goes to show how much practice I’ll need before I can make my fire spell to at most knock out my enemies… I cast an X ranked spell as a large waterfall seemed to appear from the sky flooding the wasteland as I used at a stronger rate. Around us, it became a sea of ice. When I learned a lower version of fire magic like an E ranked spell I used it to melt the ice little by little.

I practiced mostly using fire spells at a slower rate and at present I can only control perfectly up to C ranked fire spells. At one time I saw some people cross the Niilos Wasteland and when they saw what seemed to be a lake. They became frantic as they told everyone that a mysterious lake appeared in the wasteland… it was then called the Niilos Lake one of the great wonders of Alxia…

Finally, it arrived the day where the queen, Yeuhl will give birth… outside of her room was the king pacing back and forth…

King: Please!! Be a boy… I don’t have enough divinity for a fourth child… and he will marry the Luminant race’s daughter as promised and out ties will still be secured if not… one of our daughter will be married off to one of the Luminant race’s prince…

Nelus: Hmm? So that is the reason… but sorry to say that it will be a girl that will be born.

King: N-Nelus you startled me… what do you mean by…

???: Uwaahhh… uwa uwaahh!

Yeuhl: Ciall… it’s a girl. She will be called Lina… Lina Fhyllise

The king’s face went pale… as he panicked…

King: Now there is no way to stop the Luminant to take this chance to rule our race… first it was the Xalphant then it was…

Nelus: …

As the king murmurs to himself because go my extremely good hearing I heard all of it. I then approached the queen.

Yeuhl: Nelus, why are you here?

Nelus: I wanted to see the baby up close…

Yeuhl: You could’ve just told us instead of just going in without mention… haahh what are we going to do with you… you know if you it weren’t for the fact that you’re my daughter’s friend you would’ve been severely punished… please don’t do it again.

Nelus: I won’t… (Lina… as promised we finally meet.)

As I looked at the baby, she stopped crying and tried to direct her trembling arms towards me as she smiled.

Yeuhl: Oh my…

Ciall: Hmm…

Yeuhl: Nelus… can you come here?

I closed the distance as the baby grabbed my finger she was looking at it while looking at me. The parents smiled warmly at the scene. When it was time for the queen to rest I was directed by the king to leave for a while. As Lina’s hands let go of my finger she started to cry again. The king was baffled at no matter what they did the child didn’t stop crying. I then caressed her head like Altan and said “I’ll come back” she stopped crying as if my words had been understood.

The two princesses watched the scene with mixed feeling on which both of them didn’t understand. The king then tried to read Lina’s status and made him shout loudly. I tried to secretly read her status as well while I was outside the room using God’s Eyes and what I saw…

Yeuhl: What now…

Ciall: I don’t know… a valkyrie… even as being the youngest is still to be placed as the queen of the angels no matter the circumstance and if she marries a Luminant… the only way left is…

Runice: …

Zala: … Father …

Ciall: Hmm?

Zala: I’ll try to persuade Nelus to marry me…

Nelus: …
