Chapter 78 – Vampiric Mode

As Nelus defeated Talex, as out of all the people he had brought, only he was linked to him. He tried to sense which direction he was moved to and saw that he was on the largest castle in the middle of the city. Seeing that Talex was easily defeated, none of the soldiers dared to move forwards as they doubt they could even defeat him even with their numbers. Nelus then looked at them as cold sweat started to form on their backs as he then said.

Nelus: Is that Lady Void’s castle?

Nelus said while pointing at it.

???: A-ah… yes it is… (If it is Lady Void then she can get rid of him, it is better to tell the truth rather than to risk it. There will be no benefits at all if I lie now…)

The soldier said as he gulped as Calice then said.

Calice: (Hmm… they doesn’t seem to be lying… is there something there? Maybe a trap…?)

Nelus: (No, they didn’t even know we would be coming here, either they are confident about that lady Void or they are planning something ahead. Rezald and the others are still not here so…)

As Nelus was talking with Calice a light burst out in front of him as two figures came out… it was Kawt and Clara.

Kawt: Lord Nelus! I have returned.

Kawt said as he courteously bowed towards Nelus. Nelus’ gaze then goes towards Clara’s direction and it would seem she was still trembling.

Clara: Th-that was close… why didn’t you tell me you have something like that!?

Clara said clearly agitated as Kawt indifferently said.

Kawt: It was because you didn’t ask.

Clara then became furious.

Clara: What is up with that tone? Might I say that I am your queen!?

Kawt: You are not anymore as from now on, Nelus is my king! Or should I say Lord Nelus!!

Clara was going to say something as she suddenly stopped as she heavily sighed. She then look towards Nelus and remembered he was the cause of Kawt’s bizarre change. It was like it was natural for Kawt to be like this as it doesn’t seem to be an abnormality or mental ailment. To her, it looks more like “dependence”.

Clara: (Just what did he do? Hahh… well, as long as he doesn’t do the same thing to me then its okay.)

Clara thought as she looked at Nelus, she then notices that he was the only one here other than Kawt.

Clara: Nelus… was it…? Where are your other two companions?

Nelus: In that castle, where Lady Void is…

Clara: How did you know?

Nelus: (I shouldn’t say it was because of my link.) Talex told me after I defeated him.

Clara was surprised at the same time not, as a part of her expected that Nelus will defeat him. Still, hearing something like that shocked her… at least a little. Clara then looks around and saw that there are many soldiers following them but didn’t have any sign that they will attack.

Clara: Then, let’s move quickly towards the castle.

Kawt: Did that Talex hurt Lord Nelus!?

Kawt said with his bloodshot eyes as some of his veins popped out as he breathes heavily.

Calice: (I feel uncomfortable around him… even if I am not there…)

Calice said as she trembled a little after she saw Kawt’s behavior.

Nelus: (Aren’t you the one who did this to make him like this?)

Calice the twitched as she smiled wryly, she then said...

Calice: (Well… yes… ahahah… I gues I did… go a little to far…)

Nelus: I’m fine, don’t worry.

Kawt then inwardly sighed in relief as he follows Nelus’ back happily.

Clara: There doesn’t seem to be any civilians here… I guess they evacuated…

As we head further, the soldiers around us got more and more anxious as one rushed towards us to attack.

???: Raahh!!

As Nelus was going to intercept him, Kawt said…

Kawt: Leave this small fry to me.

???: Guuaahh!!

Kawt’s crimson eyes glowed as his nails grew, he then clawed at the arm of the soldier that was holding the sword as he drops it and hold it close to him as he was in deep pain. A vampire’s claws and teeth absorb blood or life essence, even if the opponent is an immortal, the pain it will cause will not lessen.

Kawt: Now die, small fry.

Kawt said as he was going to decapitate his head when Nelus then said.

Nelus: Leave him, its not worth it.

Kawt then retracts his claws as he then approached Nelus and bowed.

Kawt: As you wish Lord Nelus.

The soldier had a thankful expression as he went away. Even after what happened they still followed us but this time they were more patient.

???; I found you!!

Someone shouted from far away as we heard rumbling sounds getting closer, it was Golus the one who Kawt and Clara escaped from.

???: It’s Lord Golus!

The soldiers cheered as Golus grinned as his ego enlarges as he then shouted.

Golus: You vampires have some nerve trying to escape me, are all vampires like this?

Clara: (Kuh… if it was nighttime. Lets see who runs away from whom…)

Clara said as it was in the afternoon. Vampires are a nocturnal race, during daytime they are at 70% of their original power while at nighttime they are at 160% of their power making them a very formidable race. Unlike the werewolf clan they get weaker under the sun but their power at night is astronomical. Thinking this, even someone as muscle headed as Golus won’t think twice especially when standing in front of him was the Vampire Queen, Clara. It was getting close to nighttime as the sun was near in setting.

Golus: (I need to get rid of them quick! There are still 10 minutes left until nighttime… gaahh!! What is this timing!!)

Clara: (Come on… nighttime!!)

Clara said as she looks at the setting sun as Kawt then said…

Kawt: Lord Nelus, leave him to us, go and find that human and divine companion of yours.

Clara and Golus was dumbfounded at what Kawt suddenly said as Golus grumbled in laughter as Clara was still shocked.

Golus: Gahahaha!! You? Defeat me? A voidian?

Clara: Are you crazy!?

Kawt: Teleport.

Kawt said as he grabbed Clara and got close to Golus.

Golus: What are you…!?

Kawt with the other two left leaving Nelus speechless as he walks towards the castle.

On Kawt’s side…

Kawt and the two appeared inside a certain familiar room… it was the previous room where they encountered Golus, inside his castle.

Golus: I commend you for your bravery as well as your foolishness!!

Golus then rushed towards Kawt as Kawt Calmly raises his arms as Golus got closer to him. Golus then threw a punch as Kawt’s eyes glows crimson as he used his arm to slide of Golus’ attack as creaking noises can be heard as cracks appeared on his arm. His face was still tranquil as he fended off his attack.

Golus: (I remember… if there is an absence of sunlight… vampires are still strong!!)

Golus thought as the two’s weaken state was gone, that is why Kawt chose to teleport to this place using his artifact as it was the closest area in this city where he had gone before where there isn’t any sunlight to hinder them so that he could at least hold him off.

Clara: Hahh… Kawt… you have change quite a bit… normally you wouldn’t risk your life like this… you do know our body is hollow and that we can only rely on our regenerative capabilities as healing spells can’t affect us.

Kawt: I don’t mind…

Golus then was infuriated as normally, once he throws a punch everyone will be destroyed, the willpower Kawt had just executed was very impressive. Kawt then rushed towards Golus as he extended his claws as he tries to penetrate his armor.

Golus: Gahahahah!!! So weak!

Kawt: Tch!

Kawt clicks his tongue as Golus attacked as he punches towards Kawt stomach as cracks can be seen…

Clara: Kawt!

Golus: 2 minutes left… hmph! Be honored… I’ll show you something I don’t normally use… void magic.

Golus then gathers mana on his arm as it becomes an armor gauntlet made of void… it was an element weapon! Unlike those swords what soldiers used they were just an ordinary spells called void sword but an element weapon is different, it gives off a feeling as if it was part of the user. It shows his mastery over some part of the element.

He then tries to rush towards the wounded Kawt as he pulls back his fist. Clara was panicking as she was more of a magical type and not a physical type. More so that she is a caster of a variant of Water element spells… what spell she can use is Blood Magic, magic that conjures and control blood. She was planning to use it but the consequence is quite high… if she uses it when she isn’t in her vampiric mode at night it will quickly drain her stamina and mana at the same time and will only reset as night comes…

Clara: (I won’t let you… Blood Barrier!)

Clara then quickly gathers mana onto her hands as its tint was slowly turning red as she imbues it with life essence, which in a way is like divinity except for the fact that this energy is mostly only usable by vampires. She then created an oblique sphere made from that red liquid as Golus tries to destry it…

Golus: Breeeaaakk!!

Golus then tries to punch it as the void element on his gauntlet scattered about due to the fluctuation of power. Clara’s hands were trembling, trying to put up the barrier. Glous then became annoyed and continued with an array of punches. Cracks can be seen on the barrier as Golus grinned, he then continues to punch away intensely.

Golus: (Break! Break!! Break!!!)

Clara: (A little more…!!)

Golus then pulls back his fist as he readies to punch the barrier open. He then punch the barrier with all he’s got as the whole place trembled. Golus was then surprised… the cracks that appeared on the barrier were gone. Cold sweat started to fall on his back as he trembled.

Clara: Oh how the situation has reversed.

Clara said with a voluptuous voice… what Clara looked like was an attractive curvaceous woman with swaying grey hair and crimson eyes. It was as if her eyes were piercing through Golus’ soul. What Clara looks like before vampiric mode, was a girl that looked like in her teens. Even Rezald and Cellux were quite perplexed if she really was the vampire queen. Little did they know as why Clara was chosen as the youngest vampire queen as she has the original bloodline inside her.

An ancient vampire where her powers decrease at daytime at 60%, more so if she keeps using blood magic but during nighttime… her powers easily reaches a whopping 300%! Even with that power the only one she didn’t want to offend was Nelus as it seems she had seen through Nelus even if she didn’t have and status reading spells, she estimated that even if she was in this form she sill wouldn’t be able to beat him.

Kawt then stands up as he too started to transform into a more attractive look as his grey hair shone as well as his crimson eyes. Even if Clara was a blood mage and excels at blood magic, Kawt, whom she acknowledge as another genius excels at using life escence! Kawt then creates a pure white ethereal claw knuckles as he head of towards Golus. Golus then tries to punch Kawt as their fists collide, to his surprise they were quite evenly matched… and this was still where the vampire queen isn’t doing anything. Kawt then battled with Golus intensely as they didn’t even let each other up as they blocked each other’s attack perfectly. Golus was getting nervous while feeling the gaze of Clara… it was as if she was a completely different person.

Finally, when he saw Clara grinned, he couldn’t take it anymore as he rushed towards Clara hoping to kill her immediately. Kawt then sighed as he knew just how powerful this vampire queen is. She managed to overtake all vampire queen candidates after all; even the one thought who would surely win was wiped out by this alluring vampire. She then summoned 3 blood red needles. She threw one as it easily penetrates Golus as he writhe in pain while his body started to implode. He was going to die… his breathing was getting rough as he shouts in pain.

Clara: Even if you shout no one will come.

Kawt: Wait… Nelus said that he doesn’t want bloodshed.

Clara: Are you really saying that? Why don’t dispose of you myself!? Hahh… nevermind… do as you will… I doubt I can defeat him with my current strength so I might as well listen.

Golus who was still conscious while overhearing the two started to panic even though his life was spared.

Golus: (That white haired is stronger than this blood vampire freak… milady… I wish you the best as I know you can fend them off… from the looks of things, all of us except you Lady Lexa can fend them off…)

Golus thought as he finally loses consciousness.
