Chapter 41: Rank 6

Chapter 41: Rank 6

"Oh."

"I've been busy with developing this new potion... and I kinda want to test it out."

"Who do you plan to test it out on?"

"Myself of course!"

"Are you not afraid you'll never wake up again?"

"I've already lived a good life. So what if I end up sleeping the rest of it away?! I have a chance at becoming a timeless existence! I'd be a fool to pass such an opportunity away because of risk."

"I see... can you make me one of those potions as well?"

"Sure. We are friends after all. I'll give it to you at a discount."

"Discount?"

"It is quite expensive you see..."

"I'll also need a few more decades to make your order of 2,400 insanity potions"

"Alright..."

I pay him by injecting him with my old version of nanites.

He finds them to be a miracle of science.

Another decade passes.

I finally receive my potions.

It's time to time skip!

[ECHO]: {Name: "Zero #119", Species: Abyssal Paradox (Human), Energy: 1 GR, Strength: 11, Vitality: 21, Nanites: 8.25354e+13, Mana: 5760. Spirit: 981, Soul: 73}

To get to rank 6 will require 11520 runes.

I'll need 5760 more runes.

At 60 runes every 100 years.

9,600 years.

It'll only take me 2,400 years with potions.

I tell Werlin about my plans and tell him not to contact me for a few millenniums.

Time skip!

2,400 years pass by in an instant.

The intelligence returns to my eyes.

I immediately find myself in a weird situation.

I am sitting cross legged in a lotus pose.

I am on a platform.

There are four glass walls around me.

I can see through the glass.

People are looking at me.

I hear someone say.

"This here lies Zero the immortal. It is his real body. We found him in this position over a thousand years ago. Nobody knows why he refused to move. But we quickly built this museum around him. You'll find that he is unmoveable. Nothing we have tried has worked. He is simply eternal. We feel like he may be tackling rank 7! One day he will wak-"

"Guide!"

"What is it?"

"His eyes just opened!"

"Nonsense... he has never reacted before."

"Look!"

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"He's getting up!"

I stand up and immiediately almost fall over

My legs are so numb.

I check my properties.

[ECHO]: {Name: "Zero #119", Species: Abyssal Paradox (Human), Energy: 1 GR, Strength: 11, Vitality: 21, Nanites: 9.55354e+13, Mana: 11520. Spirit: 979, Soul: 69}

I really love time skip!

We are the bestest of friends.

I pull my old phone out of my storage dimension.

I call Werlin, but he doesn't answer.

Hmm... He should still be alive... it's only been a couple millenniums.

Maybe he is still asleep?

I pull out the potion he had given me before I went to breakthrough to rank 6.

I'm almost at the top of the food chain in this multiverse.

I Simply need to become a rank 7.

I'll need 100% comprehension in a law.

I contemplate using the potion now.

It is called 'Eternal Rest'

It puts the user into a state of deep sleep that they won't wake up from until they have either.

1.) Comprehend a law fully.

2.) Run out of lifespan.

Number 2 is impossible for me.

My lifespan is infinite!

So that means there's only one possibility.

That is a successful promotion to rank 7!

In order to avoid being a sculpture in a museum again.

I better find a quiet place to breakthrough.

I open up a portal to the chaos realm.

I'm at my bridge.

I'm a little excited.

This is the first time I'll ever sleep.

It is also the last time I'll ever sleep.

I drink the potion.

My mind begins to slow down.

Everything is fading to black.

I feel oddly tired.

It is a weird feeling that I've never experienced before.

Not physical exhaustion.

But exhaustion on a mental level.

What a novel experience.

----------------------------------------

Zero soon falls into a deep sleep.

He begins to dream.

"I need to get ready for school."

"Don't forget your lunch!"

"Thanks mom!"

No.

Something isn't right.

That is what Zero was feeling.

"Are you alright Zero?"

"You look pale."

"I'm fine... it's just something feels off!"

Zero waves his hands indicating it isn't a big issue.

Zero then left home and headed to school.

He was an elementary school student.

When he got to the gate.

He was surprised to see that he was the only one there.

Zero walked to his classroom.

He then made his way to his seat and noticed people gossiping.

The teacher walked in and everyone became silent.

"Today we will be discussing the logic behind nanites."

"Zero, I would like you to come up and explain the basic principles of nanites!"

"Nanites? What are nanites?"

"We've discussed this before in class, do you not remember?"

Zero then remembered the years he spent creating his own nanites and reprogramming the nanites given to him by Genesis.

He walked up to the front of the class and began to map out the nanite and explain how it worked.

But then he realized something important.

"I never went to school..."

"What are you talking about?"

"This isn't right!"

Zero immediately checked his properties.

[ECHO]: {Name: "Zero #119", Species: Human, Energy: 0 GR, Strength: 2, Vitality: 20, Spirit: 100, Soul: 10}

"I see..."

"The last thing I remember... was drinking the eternal rest potion. So this should be what people call a dream?"

The world then began to distort.

All of the other students were laughing.

They then started to explode into a bloody mist.

The teacher pointed at me and a black gas shot towards me.

I have experienced many simulated battles, so I quite easily dodge the black gas.

The floor disappears and I fall.

The fall is endless.

I try to fly.

But I have neither nanites nor magic in this body in my dream.

I feel a little powerless.

I then find myself waking up.

"What was I doing again?"

Zero forgot all about the dream and continued with his life.

He went to school and as he was writing the proofs for nanites he realized he had been tricked.

"I'm stuck in a loop. But my memory doesn't carry over completely. It must be something in my subconscious warning me to not give my nanite technology away."

The world began to glitch again.

This time he made sure to leave the room right as the floor disappeared.

He was then surrounded by police.

"Hands in the air!"

"None of this is real."

Zero thought that he was immortal.

Eternal.

A timeless existence.

He was shot in the heart.

"I see... I don't seem to experience pain while dreaming."

Everything faded to black.

He woke up again.

"Today, I'm not going to school!"

"Some entity is messing with me. Could this be a side effect of sleeping in the chaos realm?"

"You've picked the wrong person to mess with!"

Zero then noticed that he wasn't home anymore.

He was at a mental hospital.

He muttered to himself.

1.) I need to regain my powers in this dreamworld.

2.) I need to find a way to truly escape the dream.

3.) Escape is likely related to comprehension of the laws.

"It's time to take your medicine Zero."

"I refuse!"

"It's either the pill or a shot... choose one."

Zero then became uneasy again.

"It's a trap! You're trying to form a contract with me forcefully by making me choose!"

"Muahhahahaha!"

The mans face twisted and became deformed.

The man beside him smiled and said.

"He's becoming aware. How about this!"

Zero then found himself in a cell.

His memories were mixed up.

Some of the data was left in his subconscious.

But each time he changed locations.

It felt like his memory was foggy and scrambled.

A guard came to him and said he could escape.

He just wanted Zero to do one thing.

"Give me your trash bin so I can empty it."

Zero thought there was some trick behind this
