3: Chapter 18: Book 4

The rank 4 wished to pass his inheritance to Zero.

But Zero declined.

Because he could now feel it.

He could feel that he was a single chapter away from being strong enough to break through to book 4!

Zero felt the outline for the books again.

He instantly vanished.

And appeared at the barrier between books.

He punched the barrier and cracks formed.

The barrier shattered!

Right as Zero was about to appear in book 4.

A entity made of red text appeared blocking the way.

"Rank 11?"

Zero laughed.

This would be easy.

But it wasn't one such entity.

Another appeared.

And then another.

Ten.

A hundred.

A thousand.

Ten thousand!

A hundred thousand!

He was surrounded...

A million rank 11's from book 4 had invaded the lower reality through the hole he had made.

The author didn't plan to let Zero progress any further.

He was pulling out all the stops.

Zero was feeling the pressure.

It was a unique feeling to him.

He hadn't felt this way since he had destroyed his sublime artifact.

He had felt invincible.

That nothing could stop him.

He believed he would eventually be able to beat the author.

But the author didn't play by the rules.

Seeing that Zero had become rank 10.

The author had randomly created a million primordial concepts stronger then original incarnations that had forcefully been empowered to rank 11.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Unfortunately... since such a thing was a new concept.

These entities were unstable.

Zero wasn't an ordinary rank 10 though.

He manipulated his body from the cosmic order.

He was stronger then a rank 11 because of this!

His existence had become fundamental to reality.

He was attacked by all of these entities at once.

His 'Impulse' activated.

Perfect action.

But something new happened.

These entities also had Impulse!

Everyone was performing perfect action.

His advantage was gone!

They had the numerical advantage.

This battle was essentially one man versus an army.

And that man was 'ordinary'.

These entities had the same laws as Zero.

Zero fought well.

He took out hundreds.

Thousands...

Despite the odds.

But the numbers overwhelmed him.

He was wiped out.

He had lost.

He reloaded to before he broke the barrier between books.

He found out that he wasn't strong enough... yet!

"This isn't over!"

Zero devised a training plan like no other.

He wielded great power.

This allowed him to brute force most of his problems.

But he lacked using schemes.

So he went to the constant time of book 3.

He declared war on all the eldritch beings there.

He restricted himself to rank 9.

He easily won.

He would reload.

Redo the war.

This time he would try to win at rank 8.

With 'Impulse'. He barely managed to do it.

He felt frustrated.

This training wasn't enough.

It wasn't crazy enough!

Rank 7.

He lost.

It was impossible.

To beat a rank 9 and thousands of rank 8's as a rank 7 alone?

It was insane.

But he did it!

Then he redid it again.

This time at rank 6.

There was a huge difference in power between rank 7 and rank 6.

The difference was like that between an elephant and an ant.

Zero lost again and again.

He even made millions of himself.

He became proficient at manipulating multiple bodies.

But he lost.

Millions of years passed.

After a billion years of reliving the same hellish loop of war.

He did it!

He won!

Then he made himself rank 5.

This time it didn't take him a billion years.

After a few million years.

He passed.

Rank 4.

Passed.

Rank 3.

Passed.

Rank 2.

Passed.

Rank 1.

Passed.

He then made himself a complete mortal.

It was impossible to beat such existences wielding the power of a mortal right?

With only one body.

Only one life.

But he was Paradox!

It was his job to do the impossible!

Billions of years went by.

Initially he would instantly get vaporized.

He was just a mortal after all.

But his comprehension of thought was abnormal.

He began to develop something beyond 'Impulse'.

His actions weren't perfect.

They were flawed.

He restricted himself.

He used no laws.

He merely used his instincts.

Trillions of years went by.

His eyes had lost their intelligence.

He would restart constantly.

Instantly dying like an ant being stepped on.

Repeatedly.

You would think he would lose himself.

He spent more time on this, then the time he had been conscious.

But intelligence returned to his eyes.

He realized...

They were all dead...

As a mortal.

He had killed an entire realm of higher beings.

He grasped his hands so hard they bled.

He walked through reality as a mortal.

He was breaking the book with his actions.

He didn't remove any of his restrictions.

But he had become omnipotent as a mortal.

It was impossible...

But that is why he did it.

He flicked his fingers at the barriers between realities.

The barrier broke in an instant.

It was as if he was as strong as a rank 10.

As a rank 0!

He was surrounded by a million rank 11's.

He remained a mortal.

He fought them.

Again, again and again.

And he lost.

Again, again and again.

The level of difficulty was different then fighting a rank 9 and many rank 8's.

This wasn't simply impossible.

But then he removed his restrictions.

"Let us fight for real now."

There were times where he was almost wiped out.

He danced on the edge of death constantly.

But he did it.

He defeated the guardians of book 4.

He sat there looking at the broken barrier for book 4.

"Just you wait! I'll break out of them all!"
