Chapter 28: Control room

Chapter 28: Control room

I surprisingly do not feel the pressure as the time is stopped.

I casually get up from the ground and walk towards the exit.

Once I've entered the anti-magic realm.

I can feel both of my passives deactivate.

I also feel a restriction that even effects the brand Gaia gave me.

I twist the crown once again to resume time.

I see people coming out of the other two portals.

I then hear a voice in my head.

"Congratulations! You have done the impossible."

"Witness the greatness of Gravity!"

I feel as if a weight is lifted off of me.

[ECHO]: 'Gravity' Comprehension has reached 1%

My body is fused with the law.

A lot of information appears in my mind.

Just like with infinity.

I can use the comprehension of this law in my spells.

I create a new spell

[ECHO]: {Name: "Reverse Gravity", Level: 2, Type: Target, Element: Mana, Cost: 300, Desc: "Reverse gravity in a sphere around the target."}

Some people point at me.

"Look! It's the guy that went through the death portal."

"No way! That's suppose to be an impossible trial."

"I wonder what his reward is?"

"It's probably nothing too amazing."

A rank 4 calls everyone's attention.

"As you all know. Magic doesn't work in this realm. So we are all quite vulnerable. We will divide into ten teams of ten people each.

"Since only 105 people survived the trial. There will be a team of five people as well."

"Choose your partners."

Everyone crowds around me.

"What team are you joining Zero?"

"I'm definitely teaming with Zero... the man did an impossible trial."

"He must have some skill."

"I'm going solo guys."

"What?"

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

"That wasn't even an option!"

You see... I don't feel like having people question me about how I'm able to do things using nanites in a realm where the things I'm able to do are impossible.

It's better to just explore the realm solo.

I'll get 100% of the loot I find then.

I won't have to worry about others stealing my credit.

I talk with the rank 4 who makes the rules for the expedition.

"I can't tell if your full of yourself or actually a genius. But either way, it's your loss for choosing to work alone. I'll allow it."

Sweet.

I walk in a completely random direction away from everybody else.

Alright plot armor.

Hook me up!

I eventually find a tunnel with a metal golem guarding it.

"If you wish to pass. You must answer this riddle."

"What's the riddle?"

"If you eat this you die. What am I?"

"Poison."

"Wrong! You are sentenced to death!"

It smashes its fist into me.

My nanite membrane activates.

But unlike with infinity.

I still do feel the force and take the knockback.

I fly into the wall.

"Oh my god! That golem just killed Zero!"

"What?! Let me see."

I pull myself out of the wall.

Unfortunately there are people around.

I could easily kill this golem using nanites.

But people would be suspicious of me...

The golem looked at me in surprise.

"You are quite tough for a mortal."

I reply back

"It's just that your punches are too weak."

"You should pay attention more."

"Pay attention to wh-"

Immediately my nanite membrane is pierced and I am stabbed into the heart by a metal root that came out of the ground.

"A mortal is still a mortal. Stab them through the heart and they die just the same."

Getting stabbed hurts a bit.

I pull out the metal root and toss it to the ground.

A second later my body reverts back to its prime.

My clothes even recover.

"How did yo-"

I blast the golem with a ball of plasma.

"I'll be exploring that tunnel now."

Unfortunately other people are following me now.

"How did you use magic?!"

"I don't know. I just did it."

I try lying.

But now people are following me like I'm their mothers or something.

So annoying.

"Could you guys stop following me? How am I suppose to run into a secret inheritance with you background characters following me?"

"Background characters? We just follow you because you can use magic. It's safer, what if we run into one of those golems... without you, we would die."

An idea hits me.

These fools can't fly.

I can!

Muhahha

"Wait! Don't lea-"

I fly away at a fast speed until they are out of sight.

As I'm flying some ball of energy hits me out of the sky.

I fall into a graveyard.

I end up landing on a tombstone which then opens up halfway.

Revealing a button.

I click it and a staircase appears going downwards.

I habitually cast glow on myself.

But it doesn't work.

Ah, yes. I forgot magic doesn't work here.

I generate some fire in my hand using nanites and head down.

I end up in a very spacious room.

In the middle of it all is an orb.

A memory crystal?

I walk to it and place my hand on the orb.

Nothing happens since I can't use mana to activate it.

I decide to place it in my storage dimension.

But I'm unable to open it up in this manaless environment.

So I decide to just manually carry it.

I regret not bringing a bag.

I look a bit silly carrying around this orb in my hand.

A few seconds after picking up the orb.

The ground starts to shake.

The staircase I took down to get here closes and the room starts to fill with water.

"Really? You trapped this? Seriously..."

Eventually I am completely submerged in water.

I use my nanite membrane to keep me separate from the water.

It is slightly uncomfortable not being able to breathe.

I slowly look for a way out.

But I'm unable to find one.

I decide to just meditate until I can find a solution.

12 hours later.

The floor that held the memory crystal disappears

The water drops down completely.

I stand there floating in midair.

Until the ceiling starts to lower.

Fine... I'll go down.

So I fly to the bottom to the new floor.

I see 7 different tunnels.

There's no going back the way I came.

Well... I try.

But my nanites aren't able to break down the walls.

My plasma balls aren't doing shit either.

I randomly choose the 2nd tunnel to go down.

After I begin walking on that path.

The ceiling behind me collapses.

"I guess there's no going back now."

I eventually find myself in a room with a whole bunch of monitors.

I can see where every single person is.

I can also see what they have to deal with.

This is the control room!

Plot armor! You've done a good job.

From here. I can control the entire realm.
