3: Chapter 7: Casino

3: Chapter 7: Casino

Zero had circumvented the guards by making his portal connect to the spot right outside of the casino.

Zero walked through the portal and closed the gateway.

Zero was pretending to be 'Gabe'.

Due to searching his soul.

He was able to mimic his voice.

As well as his gait and 'habits'.

Although Zero didn't bother manipulating his body made of information.

A simple illusion spell would suffice.

As soon as Zero walked into the casino.

A host walked up to him.

"Sir... you still wish to gamble? You owe 15,000 gold coins..."

Zero looked around sketchily.

He then rubbed his hands together.

"Just one more game! I can pay it all with just one more game!"

"Sir... you have already gone over the limit... we ca-"

"I said ONE MORE GAME!"

Zero reached into his pocket and threw out a magic crystal that he made on the spot.

"This...! This is a magic crystal!"

Zero had gotten the knowledge from Gabe...

Gabe had tried to acquire some of these to pay off the debt.

A single one was worth 1,000 gold coins.

You could easily sell them for that, but good luck trying to buy it at that price.

Zero only threw out one on purpose.

He was fishing.

This was the bait.

The question was... would they bite?

YES!

"Alright, follow me."

The host led him to dice elimination.

This was the game that bankrupted Gabe.

He was addicted to winning.

Even though he constantly lost.

How this game worked.

You put your tokens in the middle of the table.

Everyone that wanted to participate had to put an equal amount.

You then took turns rolling three dice.

Whenever you rolled less then ten points.

You would be eliminated.

A guy with an eye patch looked at Zero.

"I initiate a game. 1000 tokens."

Zero looked around meekly.

"I only have this crystal... is this enough?"

"You want to bet it all at once?"

Zero made a face as if he was hesitating.

He then looked at the table with 'resolve'.

"I'LL DO IT!"

He threw the crystal in the center of the table.

The moderator for the game picked it up and replaced it with tokens.

The man with the single eye looked around.

"Anybody want to join in?"

A few people joined in.

During the time while they were talking and Zero was 'hesitating'.

He had searched the souls of the people nearby.

He found out that about 85% of the people around him... including spectators, worked for the casino secretly.

This was a huge scam!

They didn't even need to cheat most of the time in the games.

Since in this game particularly... they could spam people into joining.

Then the odds of him winning would drop significantly.

All of a sudden.

Twenty people joined in.

All 'contributing' 1000 gold coins worth of tokens.

But in reality... if anyone won besides Zero.

That money would just be going to the house and redistributed later.

They would never lose.

Zero would need to win out of the twenty people.

The game began.

'Save Point 1'

Zero played the game without cheating.

He lost.

'Reload 1'

He would replay.

Lose.

'Reload 1'

Repeat.

He was actually having fun.

"I see how he got addicted."

Eventually he had the perfect recursion.

He instantly went from being in debt to having a surplus of 5000 gold coins.

Zero hadn't bankrupted this casino from this though.

He needed to exponentially scale things up.

Zero pretended to take his winnings to the exchange center.

As he was converting the tokens into actual currency.

A man tapped him on the shoulder.

"How about another game partner?"

Zero 'hesitated'.

"I don't know... I got pretty lucky."

"C'mon man, you multiplied your money by nearly twenty times. Imagine what you could do with 5,000 gold. You and your family would be set for life."

"Hmm... I think I'm good."

Zero began to walk away.

The man that tapped him on the shoulder then spoke again:

"I saw your game man. The way you flicked those dice. There was a technique to it. It wasn't just blind luck."

Zero stopped walking.

He sighed.

"Alright. Just one more game!"

"Haha! That's what I'm talking about."

"So we are doing 1,000 gold coins?"

Zero said:

"No... I believe in the dice! I'll go all in..."

"Wait... 5,000 in one game?"

The man looked around.

He saw his manager nod his head to him.

"Alright... is anybody else joining in?"

Only five people joined in this time.

'Save Point 1'

Zero lost many times.

After his 1000th time.

He suspected foul play.

They were cheating!

"But how are they cheating?"

Zero broke character.

"You guys are cheaters."

"What are you talkin-"

"Mass Memorize!"

Everyone in the casino went into a daze.

Zero looked around.

One person snapped out of the daze too quickly.

"A wizard!"

Zero walked towards this person.

He tried to search the soul of this person.

But he instantly felt his independent consciousness pulled into another dimension!

His temporal immunity didn't activate for some reason.

It may be just because it wasn't targeting him, but his consciousness.

He sat surrounded by veins and flesh that made up the ground.

A giant eyeball looked down on him.

A mouth formed on the eyeball.

"You dare profane my followers soul?"

Zero spoke:

"I do... what are you going to do about it?"

"You FOOL! I'll have your soul burn in purgatory for 10,000 years."

Zero then found his independent consciousness had been locked in a realm of hatred and agony.

His consciousness was tortured

Zero sat down and meditated for 10,000 years.

He obviously used his 'Time Skip'.

The scenery then switched.

He appeared in front of that entity again.

"How have you kept your sanity for 10,000 years of hell?"

Zero laughed.

"That was a good break. But now, I'm curious. What are you?"

"A mortal shouldn-"

Zero rolled his eyes.

He pointed his finger at the eyeball.

"Temporal Edit"
