2: Chapter 9: Invulnerability

Meanwhile... at the anomaly department.

"Teleportation, How did he do it?"

"Maybe his super power isn't data manipulation. Maybe he is really just a genius?"

"He could possibly have more powers."

"We just received news... someone tried to assassinate him."

"They failed?"

"He dodged the bullet."

"Impressive... so super human reaction speed."

"You don't understand... he couldn't have seen the bullet coming. It wasn't within his line of sight. It was also a sniper."

"So how did he dodge it?"

"I think he predicted the future."

"So you're telling me... he has precognition as well? Just how many powers can one person have!? These aren't weak powers either. Data manipulation alone could make him rule the world... we don't have any safe guards against him. It's good that he seems to have no ill will towards us. Matilda also has said she erased his memory, and all our documents are in paper format. So he should have no idea about us."

"Rumors have also spread around that he is the creator of the now widely used fusion reactor."

"That is potentially why people are trying to assassinate him."

"If he is able to realize teleportation... what if he truly has unlocked time travel? Who would be able to stop him from doing what he wants?"

"Nobody. Maybe... Hidden Guardian... but those people hardly interfere."

Zero's POV:

Zero was in his office playing with his nanites.

He was having them saturate themself over the entire world.

So that he could open a portal anywhere in the world.

It was then that he was tapped on the shoulder by someone.

He froze up.

He didn't feel the presence of this person.

He didn't even know how they got in here...

"Hello Zero. I am Beam. I have come to talk to you about a potential deal."

This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author's consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.

"A deal?"

"Yes. You have been quite popular recently... to the point that you have come to our attention. It is unfortunate. But you have no other choice then to join us."

"Join you? Who are 'you'?"

"We keep the world in balance. We control those that lie in the shadows. We are... The Hidden Guardians."

Zero then spoke:

"Hahahahahah... fuck off. I don't have to do anything."

The smile on Beam's face disappeared.

"We have over 50 members... all of them are extraordinary. Do you really want to be on our kill list? If you don't become a member, you will be seen as too dangerous... it is clear to us what your real super power is."

"What is it?"

"You were born with super intelligence! This is how you were able to easily hack into various databases and fake your identity. It is how you are able to hack into servers and mine crypto. It is how you are able to come up with viable solutions to teleportation. It was how you developed information travel."

"Ha! Believe me when I say this. I'm no genius. I'm simply an idiot with a lot of knowledge. If I couldn't pull off miracles, my entire existence would be pointless."

"We could use someone like you... you could change the world. Imagine working in the space field. You could help take humanity to explore the vastness of space."

"I'm not interest-"

Beam then tried kicking Zero.

Zero put up his arm and blocked it.

His bones creaked... he had reinforced them when he was making his immortal body.

Beam then retracted his leg and spoke.

"Hmm... you even have physical enhancements. You're just full of surprises. Next time you see me... you will die. Bye Zero."

Zero spoke:

"Did I say you could leave?"

Right as Zero was about to hit him a beam of light blinded him.

The man was gone.

Zero had a wide grin on his face.

Why?

Well he had put nanites on Beam.

He now knew the location of their secret hideout.

Zero cracked his knuckles.

"It seems like it is time to take out some trash."

"But before I do that... I need to be prepared."

"Who knows what sort of powers they have?"

Zero missed his invulnerability deeply.

So he decided to focus on restoring that ability.

He spent a week planning out how to restore his invulnerability.

But based on the laws of this world.

He couldn't come up with anything.

Maybe he could steal such an ability?

So he supposed he would have to settle with a healing factor.

His immortal body could already regenerate himself from any condition as long as one of his seven brains survived.

It was just the speed that was the problem

He also needed mass from somewhere.

As well as energy.

He developed a pill that was extremely calorie dense.

He developed it using similar technology as that of his time isolator.

It also has quite a bit of mass.

Now his cells could divide to their hearts content.

Not to mention, he also had a nanite membrane.

As a shield.

He was ready to raid 'Hidden Guardian'.

Why was he raiding them?

Well... they threatened him.

He also wanted to get blood samples from each of them.

If their powers were based on their genes.

You might think that he would just open up a portal and personally go there.

Nah.

He had nanites, remember?

He could control those as easily as his own limbs.

For the week he was preparing.

They had already saturated the entire base.

So he quietly collected the blood samples over time whenever someone was sleeping.

Then opened up a small portal and brought it to him.

If he was going to fight these people.

He would do it with their own powers!

He examined the genes and found those that gave super powers.

"The first sample is quite a find indeed."

He was able to steal the blood of someone invulnerable by opening up a small portal inside of them.

So now he just needed to go through their DNA and find the part that made them 'indestructible'.

He did this in an instant.

He then created what he called an 'Invulnerability liquid'.

A single drop was capable of modifying some ones DNA.

He created a sort of virus.

He then created a portal into his blood stream with nanites and moved the liquid into it.

It would modify his DNA and add the chunks needed for invulnerability.
