Chapter 30: War

Chapter 30: War

Obsidian's POV:

There is no hope.

I had grown up in the darkness sect.

I was born into it.

Molded by it.

My aptitude was 10.

I was praised for it.

I was born as a rank 1.

I was born with 360 runes already etched along my chain.

I didn't have to start practicing meditation until I was 18 years old.

With my high aptitude.

It took me only three years to reach my current rank.

A rank 2 magi.

Able to control the elements.

Fly high in the sky.

I had a bright future ahead of me.

With my aptitude.

It was only a matter of time until I reached rank 3 and then 4.

All I would need were spell models.

Unfortunately the brightness sect had declared war on us this year.

As a rank 2.

And as someone born in the sect.

It was finally my time to shine!

I would show the other sects the power of the Darkness Sect.

I was so naive.

I had never witnessed the horrors of war.

I had both my hands on the ground.

I was covered in blood.

Surrounded by the corpses of my family members.

I'm done for.

It was then that 'he' came.

A man wearing weird clothes.

He had a certain aura to him.

It spoke out to me.

It felt as if he looked at this battle as nothing more then a game.

I sat there surrounded by the enemy.

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

These are all rank 3's.

I can't see through his rank.

But even if he is rank 4.

There is no way he can deal with such a large amount of rank 3s.

Even with the qualitative change that being rank 4 brings.

He lands right beside me.

I cough up blood and try to warn him.

"Leave me, you can still escape. You don't need to sacrifice yourself for me!"

"Go now!!!"

He replies back to me.

"Don't be so dramatic."

He touches my shoulder and my wounds begin to close.

I'm completely healed!

"You can still fight, I can tell from your spirit."

I begin to laugh.

This madman must have just wasted a vast amount of mana on healing a mere rank 2.

But I like it!

He talks to me as if he is ignoring the numbers we are up against.

It's as if he is looking at them like they are ants.

My spirit begins to ignite!

"It's too dangerous for you here. "

A portal opens and I'm slightly dumbfounded.

Opening portals without a gateway...

This the stuff of legends.

I'm pushed into the portal.

"Wait! I can still figh-"

It closes.

"Fight..."

I find myself in a room.

A man is sleeping in a bed.

He grumbles...

"Zero, you said I could stay here, remember?"

Was that man's name Zero?

I had read about him in the history books.

A genius in formations seen once in a lifetime.

I met the legend in person.

His temperament.

Everything about him seemed alien.

It was if he came from another world

That was my impression of him.

I wonder if he takes in disciples...

----------------------------------------

It's war time!

I fly to the frontlines and see a man surrounded by ants.

I deactivate my flight spell and fall down landing right next to him

He seems on the verge of death.

My light affinity is crap.

So I don't use a healing spell.

I use restore on him.

[ECHO]: {Name: "Restore", Level: 1, Type: Target, Element: Mana, Cost: 1200, Desc: "Turn back the clock for the target."}

I can tell from that look in his eyes, he still wants to fight.

But my infinity only protects me.

It's a bit too dangerous in this area.

So I open a portal back to my room and push him in.

Once it closes.

I crack my knuckles and look at these fools surrounding me.

"I heard you guys declared war against the darkness sect. I know, you probably didn't know I was part of it. But this will be the last mistake of your pathetic lives."

Although my mana is only at 1440.

Because of the four templates.

It is essentially at 5760.

In what I can do with it.

Erase is a little pricy.

But Memorize only cost me 100 mana.

I can cast it 57 times before running out of mana.

In order to not have to individually target everyone.

I make another version of it.

The base of the spell is:

[ECHO]: {Name: "Memorize", Level: 1, Type: Illusion, Element: Mana, Cost: 100, Desc: "Show the secrets of the universe to the target."}

I make a rank 3 version:

[ECHO]: {Name: "Mass Memorize", Level: 3, Type: Area, Element: Mana, Cost: 4000, Desc: "Show the secrets of the universe to everyone in a 1 kilometer radius."}

I cast the spell.

I affect both my enemies and my allies.

The battlefield goes completely silent.

I pull out my pocket watch and twist the crown 3 times.

I walk around and touch my enemies individually.

Once I do. Time is unfrozen for them.

I then kill them in hand to hand combat while they are confused.

I rip off some of the enemies heads.

I snap some of their necks.

I essentially disable all of them one on one.

I used nearly all my mana casting mass memorize.

But it was worth it.

I don't touch the rank 4's.

So they stay frozen in time.

I'm truly bullying the weak.

But they declared war on us first!

I walk back to where I had frozen time at.

Pull out my pocket watch.

Twist it.

Then watch the confusion as all our enemies die in an instant.

I hear one of the enemies rank 4's speak:

"Retreat! They have a rank 6! I repeat, retreat!"

He says while pointing at me.

I'm rank 3 though...

The losses their side suffered were incredible.

The funny thing is.

We only lost a few rank 2's.

I was the first rank 3 to arrive on the battlefield.

I suppose the 'war' was over before it even began.

This battle went down in history as 'The One Man Army Rampage'.

Zero had yet another entry in the history books.

More and more people started to believe that this 'zero' was the same Zero that was a formations grandmaster.
