2: Chapter 3: Becoming Immortal

2: Chapter 3: Becoming Immortal

He then drew a formation on some paper in his formation room.

It was to access his storage dimension.

It looked quite pretty.

But even using his own blood as an activator.

Nothing happened.

He then decided it was time to try out his body.

It was suppose to have been cultivating while he was in the vat.

But it seemed this worlds fundamental logic was different.

He didn't even have a dantian.

But he did have the six crystals that should be carrying his consciousness.

The only problem was they weren't.

But having them is better then not, so he wasn't worried.

When he initially broke through to rank 7. He gained the ability to modify his body through intent.

He could faintly feel that he still had some sort of control over how his body worked.

He went to the bathroom and tried changing his eye color.

He stared at the mirror for hours.

Focusing his intent on changing his eyes.

After an hour his eyes were burning.

After three hours, his eyes had turned from being white and green to being violet.

Changing them back took a lot less time.

He was feeling a little hungry.

He called his servants phone and asked him to bring up some food.

Johnathan was a little confused that he was able to call him without having a phone... but such things were normal with this mysterious boss.

Could his origin really be as simple as a vat?

Zero dug into the food and then focused on his next issue.

He had based the immortal body off of Owtz's body.

It had 6 crystals that were suppose to serve as the consciousness carrier.

Imagine having seven brains.

The main problem was that his nervous system wasn't connected to these crystals yet.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

They also didn't carry his consciousness.

Right now his brain was doing that.

But there was also an information wave that was bound to his body.

That wave carried his consciousness as well.

So he took that consciousness and split it into seven parts

He then attached it the prose, the stasis, the four vital peas, as well as his brain of course.

Then it was time to connect his nervous system.

He essentially made smaller, more flexible spines connecting the crystals together

After about three days of nonstop focus.

He had successfully made himself immortal.

As long as one of the crystals remined intact.

He would not die.

He thus decided to put in a fail safe.

Being too hard to kill could backfire in certain situations.

So, using his intent he added a new function to the crystals.

Self destruct.

Then he could flee this body and revive at one of his vats.

He didn't think anyone on this planet would be able to threaten him though.

Who was he?

He was ZERO! Infinite! Paradox!

An attempt to kill him would be amusing.

He wasn't done modifying his body yet.

Since he knew that he could change his body through intent.

He made sure to crystalize his organs and buff his digestion system to be able to digest damn near anything.

He would need a lot of energy for regenerating limbs or injuries.

He certainly wasn't pulling from the chaos realm anymore in this body.

He didn't even know if such a realm existed in this reality.

He finally finished modifying his body.

He was quite satisfied with the progress.

He decided to check up on how the research with time travel was going.

He hadn't yet participated.

But the people he had hired had come from some top class schools.

So he wondered just what they would come up with.

He went down a floor and went to the time travel and teleportation department.

What did he see?

He saw a bunch of people on computers browsing social media.

He then realized something.

He talked with the person in charge of managing the team about everyone slacking off.

"We aren't slacking off... asking us to research time travel is a bit... impossible. We have been looking into metaphysics and the paranormal. But we haven't a clue where to start."

Zero then realized that these guys were just a bunch of mortals.

He had forgotten that not just anyone can come up with this stuff.

But he also had been paying these people for years!

He would explain time travel to these mortals.

He had experienced it himself after all.

Even if this reality worked differently... his experience should be valuable, right?

Everybody received a message on their computers to gather around for a meeting.

"It is nice to finally meet you guys. I have noticed that all of you are spending your time on social media, instead of researching time travel. I realize that I might have failed to give you guys direction. But make no mistake. I plan to fix that problem right now."

"I will first explain how one time travels."

"Think of time like an old friend. Think of it like consciousness. Time is merely two separate states. You can even think of it as binary. Tick Toc. Zero, One. The difference between consciousness and time is that time doesn't become more complex. Its complexity stays as a constant. This allows it to be manipulated. One can go forward or backwards or even stop time. There are different forms of time travel as we-"

At this point somebody cut off Zero.

"Where did you get this information? It just sounds like a bunch of nonsense. Do you have any evidence for your claims?"

Zero laughed.

"I myself have experienced it first hand. I once upon a time comprehended the rules of the universe. I have time traveled."

The person that had interrupted earlier then spoke again.

"I meant scientific evidence. Not personal anecdotes. I signed up to work here because I thought there might be a future. Since I was a kid, I have been obsessed with the supernatural. But all I've found is lies and stories. Prove that you can time travel. Alpha10. Go back ten minutes and tell me those words. Then I'll believe you."

"I currently am unable to time travel... but I assure you. In the future, everything will be possible."

Somebody else spoke.

"Aren't you afraid of creating a world ending paradox?"

"Did you not read the name of our company?"
