Chapter 37: Pawn Shop

Chapter 37: Pawn Shop

I asked random people passing on the streets where I could turn valuables into currency.

One man told me I could trade things at a pawnshop.

I asked the man if he could take me to one.

He agreed.

I was then taken to a huge warehouse.

I entered the store and there was a variety of electronics.

TV's

Computers.

Radios.

Phones.

It was odd seeing this old technology now used in this world.

I used to have a hobby of deconstructing old technology you see.

So I was a bit knowledgeable and recognized what these things were.

I thank the man for driving me to the pawnshop and tip him a gold coin.

"Is this real gold?"

"Yea?"

"You keep this. It is valuable."

"It's alright. I have a ton."

"Why were you begging people on the street then?..."

"I don't have any money. Only useless relics."

"I see."

The man takes the coin and leaves.

I walk up to the counter and tell the cashier that I would like to pawn some things for currency.

"What would you like to Pawn?"

I pull out a golden coin from my storage dimension.

"How much can I get for one of these?"

They inspect the coin.

"I'm sorry sir. This is above my authority. I'll have to call in an expert."

"How long will that take."

"He'll be here in an hour!"

A man comes in and inspects the coin.

"This is a historical relic! It was made in the 200th year of the greshia kingdom! Thousands of years ago! But it is as if the coin was frozen in time. Not to mention that this is a kingdom in dimension 0!"

"How much is it worth?"

"It could easily sell for tens of millions."

I ask then:

"How much will you buy it for?"

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"I'd recommend selling it elsewhere, or donating it to a museum."

"Nah. I'll sell it here."

"The most we can offer you is a million."

"Is that a lot?"

"We'll need your bank information."

"I don't have a bank account..."

"We can't do cash..."

"Alright. I'll come back when I have a bank account."

I leave the pawnshop and put a waypoint of it on a map in my mind.

I ask around and find out where a bank is located.

I walk to the bank and ask to open an account.

I'm told I need a deposit of at least 50 dollars.

So I need a job.

I decide to ask random people on the street for money.

Most look down on me.

But a few people help me out.

At the end of the day I have earned 70 dollars.

I go to the bank and open an account.

I make sure to memorize my routing number and account number.

I then notice something quite strange.

The technology of this world is so primitive.

I can use the chip in my brain to hack into the servers.

I could potentially change the values to whatever I want.

But I decide that is a bad idea.

I'm not going back to prison!

I go back to the pawnshop and sell them two of the coins.

I've become a millionaire.

Not sure how good that is.

But I have a crap ton of 'historical relics' in my pocket dimension.

I don't plan on selling them yet.

Because if they flooded the market, the value would probably decrease.

I also simply don't need that much money.

I go back to the store I originally went to, to buy a phone.

It only cost me 200 dollars.

I pay with a debit card the bank gave me.

They told me they would 'mail' me one with my name on it.

But I didn't have an address.

I get told by some homeless guys that there is a shelter

And that it is illegal to loiter on the streets at night.

I go to a hotel and its only 30$ a night.

Based off this worlds currency.

I am actually quite rich!

After getting a phone and having a roof over my head.

I'm feeling a little bit more secure.

At the very least I don't have to worry about getting arrested again.

I hire someone to help me fill out the paperwork needed to get a house.

They want me to pay mortgage for it.

But I decide to pay off the entire thing at once.

I have the money, so why not?

I'm then told I'll still have to pay property taxes on it.

I hire someone to handle my finances.

Being rich is quite useful it would seem.

So I don't really have to worry about it.

It is time to become a rank 5!

[ECHO]: {Name: "Zero #119", Species: Abyssal Paradox (Human), Energy: 1 GR, Strength: 11, Vitality: 21, Nanites: 4.87124e+13, Mana: 2880. Spirit: 980, Soul: 72}

I won't need a rank 5 spell.

I don't need to worry about anything other then meditating.

To become a level 5 wizard I need to get 5760 runes inscribed on my chain.

That's 2880 more runes.

At 60 runes every 100 years.

That's 4800 years.

I have 400 insanity potions in my storage dimension.

With those it'll just take me 3600 years.

Let's get to it.

You see, during my stay in prison I have created a new ability worthy of me.

One of my abilities is plot armor.

So what should this ability be called?

Essentially I set my body on autopilot and change my perception of time.

I can make thousands of years go by in an instant.

Although since I'm not 'actually' experiencing the present moment.

I will not gain comprehension of laws doing this.

I call this new ability 'Time Skip'

So I use Time skip...

3,600 years pass by.

At this point the world is very polluted.

There is also an issue with global warming and forest fires.

Many people strive to become rank 3 to go to a higher dimension where the world is less hectic and not over run by sky scrapers and cities.

My house sat wedged between 3 sky scrapers.

Business man had offered an extraordinary amount to buy the rights to my house.

But I didn't care about the money.

Then the government eventually told me I would have to leave the house.

The next week it was bulldozed.

The house wasn't in good condition anyways.

Despite paying people to maintain it.

It was simply too old.

I decided to just permanently live in one of the skyscrapers that was serving as an apartment.

[ECHO]: {Name: "Zero #119", Species: Abyssal Paradox (Human), Energy: 1 GR, Strength: 11, Vitality: 21, Nanites: 5.12354e+13, Mana: 5760. Spirit: 980, Soul: 72}

I now had 6 templates.

As well as 5760 mana.

Which is basically 34560 mana.

It turns out my friend Werlin had became a rank 6.

His lifespan had increased dramatically.

So he was still kicking.

He went through the proper channels to cross dimensions.

So he was not arrested and still had a clean record.

His lifespan had expanded to over 12k years.

He was searching the world for inheritances.

You see... the immortality potion had a worst side effect then we expected.
