Chapter 9: Interrogation.
(Selenia’s POV)
It was a good thing that I had such a feast, as I had to wait three whole hours before I finally found out why I was put into a cell. At least I wasn’t chained to a wall, so I shouldn’t be that much trouble. Well, I didn’t know the reason yet, but this hot glasses woman will probably explain it, right?
Right now, I was in a room that looked to be used for interrogations. In front of me was a black short-haired woman with black-framed glasses. Oddly, her glasses looked somewhat modern… Ah, right. She was also wearing a military uniform.
Bespectacled Woman: “You’re Private Selenia, correct?” She asked.
Selenia: “Yes, that is my name and rank, miss.” I reply.
Bespectacled Woman: “How old are you? To be using such manners…” She asked with a thinking pose.
Selenia: “I am eight, mam. Now then, could I please ask for a lawyer?” I ask.
Bespectacled Woman: “You want a lawyer?… Private Selenia, I am Lieutenant Cirilia Sarns. You may ask for a lawyer, but it won’t look good for you if you do get one.” She explained.
Oh? Was that a bad thing to say? I am sure that Cirilia is trying to intimidate me with her glare. But unfortunately for her, Cirilia’s deep red eyes that were glaring dagger at me, were just very attractive to me. Of course, I can look as much as I please. Who would suspect a child of checking someone out? Only a crazy person would do something like that.
Selenia: “That so? Then may I ask why I have been arrested?” I ask with a sigh.
Cirilia: “General Radahn Quartz has vowed that you’re who you say you’re, but an investigation is still needed. Please understand, even if you’re very wise for your age, it is crazy to think that you could destroy an entire enemy outpost.” She answered.
Selenia: “I haven’t seen you at the fort, did you show up just for me?” I ask with a curious tone.
Cirilia: “I did, yes. In fact, I rode my dragon here just a few minutes after we received General Radahn’s letter.” She replied with a smile.
Selenia: “Wait, doesn’t Radahn rank higher than you?” I ask.
Cirilia: “No, that isn’t the case. As I am in the military police, so I technically rank higher than him.” She explained.
Wait… Did she try to impress me with her dragon? A normal kid would probably have gotten excited when she mentioned a dragon… Of course, I was excited too. I am just far better than most kids at hiding my emotions.

Selenia: “I see. Thanks for answering my questions. Now then, please ask away yours.” I reply.
Cirilia: “Do you see this bell?” She asked after taking out a bell from her side.
Selenia: “Hm? What is it?” I ask with a curious tone.
Cirilia: “This bell will ring by itself when it hears a lie. Go on, test it out.” She proposed.
If you’re wondering why this bell hasn’t gone off already, well, one, I haven’t told an intentional lie, and two, Cirilia took a cloth wrap off of the bell, which prevented it from moving and making any noise.
Selenia: “Hm… Okay, magical bell, I super hate steak.” I say with a joking tone.
As expected, the bell rung from hearing my lie. Oooo, how fantasy-like! I am beginning to like this world more and more. I just have to get to the point where I can actually enjoy it… And I highly doubt that I could do that while in the military…
Cirilia: “Private Selenia, you’re eight years old, correct?” She asked.
Selenia: “As far as I am aware, that is my age.” I reply.
No ding.
Cirilia: “How did you come into possession of General Hortia Belt’s head, Private Selenia?” She asked.
Selenia: “When searching a ransacked village for food, I came across a man raping a woman. Using my knife, I stabbed him in the head. Once done, the women cut off his head for me, and pointed me in the direction of this fort.” I answer.
No ding.
Cirilia: “Where are you parents, Private Selenia?” She asked.
Selenia: “I never saw my mother in my life, so I assume that she died in childbirth. As for my father, one day, he was very drunk, so he mistook me for his wife. He tried to rape me, but he luckily snapped out of his stupor.” I answer.
No ding.
Cirilia: “And your father? Where is he now? Did you run away from him?” She asked.
Rather than asking like a strict military person with her first questions, her questions have gotten to be more warm in tone. As if she was actually upset at my answers to her questions. I was just telling the truth, of which I was forced to do. They can’t really blame me for that, right?
Selenia: “Oh? Well, he had hanged himself shortly after the attempt. He wrote down a letter for me, but he never taught me how to read. So I was on my own. Which is the full story on how I ended up here.” I answer.
No ding, once again.
Cirilia: “…”
Selenia: “Ah, right. I should mention, but I lied to Radahn about the woman. I told him that Hortia was pleasuring himself with a corpse. I didn’t fully trust General Radahn at the time, and I wanted to protect the woman’s safety.” I say without being asked.
No ding, as you would expect. This went on for a while, and I honestly answered every question that Cirilia asked me. Besides the intentional lie at first to test the bell, I didn’t lie at all. Frankly, I haven’t done anything against this kingdom at all.
Cirilia: “Final question, Private Selenia. Are you a spy for another kingdom?” She asked.
Selenia: “No. Frankly speaking, only Radahn would be the one willing to let a child into his forces. Of course, he probably only did it, so I wouldn’t go starving.” I reply.
No ding. Nice!
Cirilia: “Okay, that is all of my questions. Private Selenia, you’re free to go and to carry on with your military career.” She said before getting up from the chair.
As she began to walk out of the room, I quickly caught up to her, and I grabbed hold of her uniform to stop her. Why, you ask? Because I want to see a fucking dragon! Why else!? That bell is the most fantasy-like things I’ve seen so far…
Cirilia: “Yes? What is it, Private Selenia?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.
Selenia: “Can…can I go see your dragon?” I ask with a nervous tone.
She stared me dead in the eyes before having a hearty laugh. Cirilia agreed to let me see her dragon, and then we left the interrogation room, and we headed to where she had left her dragon. Ah, I can’t wait to see more fantasy-like things!
