Chapter 30: More Killing...
(Selenia’s POV)
Hell Bulls were what Vana told me about. Specifically, they are a type of cow-like monster. Cows = beef. Beef = no more shitty bread! Come hell or high water, I am fucking getting that meat! No one can stop me!!!
Selenia: “Vana, ready the troops.” I say after getting up from my chair.
Vana: “General Selenia?” She asked.
Selenia: “Don’t give me that look, Vana! We’re going hunting for food.” I say with a serious tone.
Vana: “Ah, right! I’ll gather the rest up right away!” She replied before running out of the room.
She seems to do that a lot… I quickly followed her out of the makeshift command center, and saw that she had already gathered them. Vana also seems to work fast… Sometimes. Speaking of makeshift, I asked Vana, and there weren’t any baths around at all.
Which makes complete sense, as not even Radahn’s fort had a bath. Once again, the only way to bathe was to use a rag and a bucket of water. Super sanitary…
Selenia: “Right, now then… Today, we shall go hunt for some food. This shitty bread isn’t very good for any of us, after all.” I say with a serious tone.
Not like I could ride them, but there weren’t any horses at this fort. This place was really barebones, and in far many more ways than one. As such, we had to walk to our destination. My small group of troops were very nervous, but I wasn’t at all.
Some Time Later.
I was lost in thought most of the time, so I don’t quite recall how long of a walk it was. Regardless, we were now inside the small forest of this desert. Just the entrance of it, mind you. From a far, it looked almost like an illusion, but it turned out to be real.
Vana: “General Selenia! There is a group of five Hell Bulls charging at us!” She exclaimed with a scared yell.
Selenia: “Perfect!” I reply with a smile.
Oddly, my men decided to take their weapons out for a fight. Are they high? They’re basically skin and bones. What the hell can they do in a fight? Frankly, the main reason they’re fine with me being their General, is because I had to protect their sorry asses during that annoying revolt.
Before they got any bright ideas, I rushed over to the enemies. It is weird calling an animal an enemy, but that was what they were at the moment. And very soon, they will become our food. With an evil smile, I slit the throat of the one in front.
In just a few minutes, I had killed the entire group. These things were pretty big, so even if the meat didn’t last long, it will still feed us for a decent while. I wonder why they had problems with these oversized cows? They weren’t anything to worry about.

Selenia: “What are you all gawking at?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.
Vana: “…General Selenia, we assumed that we would be fighting them as well.” She answered.
Selenia: “And why would I waste your lives? You all are practically skin and bones!” I reply.
Vana: “Then… why did you bring us here?” She asked with a confused tone.
Selenia: “To carry the meat, of course.” I reply with a nonchalant tone.
Vana and the soldiers: “…”
Selenia: “Take all that you can back to the fort. Tonight we shall have a feast!” I say with an excited tone.
Vana: “General Selenia, aren’t you coming back with us?” She asked.
Selenia: “Do I really need to protect you all?” I reply with a slightly annoyed tone.
Vana: “No, no! I was just curious about your intentions.” She clarified.
Selenia: “This little green haven makes no sense, so I want to explore it a bit. I won’t be too long. That is, unless I run into trouble.” I say while walking away from them.
Further into the forest, I came to an odd conclusion. This place was fucking weird! The map that I was shown wasn’t the full picture at all. Rather than a small patch of fertile land, this was definitely an entire forest. It probably led to a different kingdom. This truly makes me think that the area around the fort is cursed land, or something along those lines…
Apart from that odd discovery, this place was just a normal fantasy forest. With nothing to gain for exploring it, I went back on my way to the fort. When I got near the entrance, I was beyond pissed off…
Selenia: “It’s been at least an hour, why are you all still here!?” I exclaim with an angry tone.
Vana: “General Selenia, please forgive us!” She pleaded.
Selenia: “Explain!” I demand.
Vana: “It’s… we can’t carry any of the monsters you’ve hunted…” She admitted with an embarrassed expression.
Selenia: “Ah…” I say with a realization.
Fuck… I forgot that they were already pretty weak. Not to mention, even a strong normal human wouldn’t be able to carry these cows on their own. But that wasn’t what I meant? Of course you can’t fucking carry them! They probably weigh thousands of pounds! I meant to just cut off what you could carry…
Selenia: “My orders weren’t clear enough, it seems…” I say with a sigh.
Vana: “…”
Selenia: “I didn’t want you all to carry all of them back, I just wanted you to cut off parts of the animals that you could carry.” I explain.
Was it malnutrition that caused this? All of them looked around as if they finally realized how stupid they were. With another sigh, I ordered them to carve the meat, but leave two Hell Bulls untouched. Once they were done, it was time to set off to home.
Vana: “General Selenia, why do we leave two of them untouched?” She asked with a curious expression.
I didn’t answer her question directly, instead; I walked over to the two untouched animals and easily picked them up, with one on each of my shoulders. They all looked at me like I was some kind of Goddess… With a glare, I ordered them to head back home.
The entire way back, they kept looking at me, probably wondering when I would get tired. But such a time never came, as I never even broke a sweat the entire way back. I sat down the full animals down near the kitchen, and I asked them to call me when the food was ready. I needed a good bath…
Once done with my bath, Vana knocked on my door. She informed me that the food was done. I would have ordered her to bring me food, but I felt that I needed to bond with the remaining soldiers some more. As such, I went outside to eat with them in the shitty mess-hall.
Taking a bite out of a giant steak, I was beyond surprised. This tasted so fucking good! This meat was even better than anything that Radahn let me eat. Did I stumble onto some high-quality food?…
Vana quietly informed me that Hell Bulls are a highly sought after kind of meat, but killing one was impossible without an army. It wasn’t so valuable just for the taste, though. There are cases where people who were malnourished ate just a few bites of Hell Bull meat, and the next day they were completely healthy, as if they ate well their entire lives.
What’s more, the meat never went bad, as it always stayed warm, even after the Hell Bull was killed. I doubt that I will wake up to an amazing army tomorrow, but at least they won’t be as famished as before. Once I was done eating, I went back to my room to sleep. I just truly hope that I can actually get a full night of sleep this time…
