Chapter 32: From Boars, to Wars...
(Selenia’s POV)
Saya’s plan was just so crazy that I had to agree to it… Sure, just give me a perfect plan to take over a neighboring kingdom. That is way too good of a payment for the Hell Bull meat. Ah, right, I should mention my current situation…
Vana: “General Selenia, our troops are ready when you are.” She said with a solute.
I mean, I think she did? She is behind me, after all… Look, I am still a child size person, so I can’t ride a horse yet. Currently, not counting myself, my army of fifteen soldiers were riding horses. In front of us, was the capital city of Champetri. Just a few miles of desert, and then you will reach this kingdom.
It was only five hours away from my fort, so it was odd how they have never bothered to raid Sooven. Anyway, unlike last time, there wasn’t anything easy about this second try at taking over a kingdom.
There wasn’t a glaring hole in their defenses, and they had their entire military force present. The difference is that Champetri is in an odd spot. A mix of farming and lumber, there really isn’t any reason to take it over at all.
Well, it is thought to be neutral, but isn’t at all. Tarina was doing the same, pretending to be neutral, but actually directly helping out the kingdoms that wish to destroy or take over the Alwessal Empire. They just haven’t shown their hand, yet.
It is only thanks to Saya and her guild that I now know of this. In a year’s time, Champetri is planning on invading Sooven through my border fort. Unlike Tarina, they didn’t have a border fort, or any kind of protection on their borders. As such, it was very easy to make it here.
Once again, the people were malnourished and most likely treated badly by this kingdom. None of them tried to stop us at all. Yes, I do realize that leaving my fort completely abandoned isn’t a good idea, but it should be fine for now. Why is it fine?
Cirilia and her commander are protecting it. Frankly, we’re just cannon fodder to test the waters. Sooven doesn’t expect us to actually take over Champetri. Especially with such a small show of force. Cirilia, Saya, and Radahn are the only ones that know who I actually am.
Which is why I was given such a task. Who cares if I die? If it will be such an uphill battle, why did I agree? Well, Champetri’s capital city had no walls. In every sense, it was a very small kingdom. But taking it over will have its merits.
Selenia: “Despite you all getting stronger, I have no intentions of letting you all die in vain.” I reply.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Vana: “General?” She said with a shocked tone.
Selenia: “Vana, just get me close to their city, and then leave run away as fast as you can.” I order.
Vana: “…”
Selenia: “Don’t give me that look. Do you think that I will die? You all need to get much stronger before you can fight alongside me.” I gloat.
Vana and the Soldiers: “…”
Selenia: “Just sit back and watch me take this place over with ease.” I say with a confident tone.
With my order, Vana rallied her horse to run forward. Champetri has five thousand soldiers at the moment. But the only fortified location is the castle. Wide open streets will be the battlefield, for the most part.
Once near the city, the guards were on high alert. Without waiting, I jumped off of Vana’s horse, and quickly killed the few guards at the entrance. Really, besides the castle, Champetri’s capital city only had wood fences. Sure, the fences were kinda nice…
Vana: “General Selenia! Please be safe!” She said before getting her horse to run away.
Celia: “???”
At least try to get me to not do something so crazy… Do they really trust me that much? Regardless, I had no time to think about this, as I had let a few of the guards run away to get help. After waiting for a ten minutes, over fifty knights surrounded me. With a grin, I started to kill as if my life depended on it.
Hours Later.
So… I might have accidentally started a peasant uprising… Look, to be fair, I just kept killing and killing. Eventually, after I had killed well over 2000 soldiers, they decided to start burning down buildings. This was in an attempt to kill me in some weird roundabout way.
Completely against their expectations, I helped the peasants deal with the fires. No. The people didn’t directly fight with the knights, as they didn’t really have weapons. They fight with their help of me. Despite being blessed, I can still get tired like most people.
Basically, after every few hundred knights I killed, I would be pretty worn out. As I am blessed, it doesn’t take long for me to return to full energy. But I still needed a place to rest. Which is what the peasants offered me. Well, they also gave me food and water too.
Peasant Woman: “Child, what is your goal here? There hasn’t been any declaration of war…” She asked with a curious tone.
Selenia: “Huh? Ah, to take over this kingdom for Sooven is my goal. Once I do so, life should be far better than before for you all.” I reply after taking a bite of bread and swallowing it.
The woman just hugged me and spoke of nothing else to me. Was this kingdom that abusive to its people? Why even live in such a place, then? No. That is my modern sensibilities getting in the way. It isn’t easy for people to leave their kingdom.
Various types of monsters litter the world. And even my group came across a few Goblins while riding here. The little green things were quite creepy, if I am being honest. And, though it sounds wrong, most of these people don’t have any skills. If they leave, they will just be abused and used in some other kingdom.
Being taken over by Sooven isn’t that big of an improvement, but the Alwessal Empire’s kingdoms were known for being far better for most people, even peasants. And, as it is wartime, being under Alwessal’s flag might be good, somewhat.
After giving my thanks to the woman who fed me, I left to go on a rampage once more. Only now that I left, do I realize that I am covered in blood. Was the woman not scared of my appearance?… Fuck. I doubt it, but I sure do hope that Champetri’s castle has something similar to a bath…
