Chapter 31: Stupidity...

Chapter 31: Stupidity...

(Selenia’s POV)

Did I forget that this is a fantasy world with magic and all that? Yeah, I sorta did… To be fair to myself, I have only really dealt with medieval military things. And the only real fantasy thing I’ve come across was those Hell Bulls.

Huh? What about Semi, the big green dragon? Okay, I’ll admit to that one. Maybe I was just hoping that it was more down to earth than a typical fantasy dimension? Either way, when I woke up this morning, I was met with a very big shock…

No. It’s not like all of my remaining soldiers are now beefcakes, but they weren’t shitty like before. And by that, I mean they looked fierce, were kinda buff. If Vana is anything to go by, they probably look at me like I am their supreme ruler, or something…

Vana: “General Selenia, good morning.” She said with a salute.

Vana no longer looked like a weak girl. Instead, she was similar to Cirilia. Did Cirilia juice up on those Hell Bulls too? Fuck… even I feel stronger, too. At least, I don’t look any buff, but I do seem somewhat stronger.

Selenia: “Good morning. What is on today’s agenda?” I ask with a sigh after getting out of bed.

Vana: “Today, we’re rebuilding the fort. Parts of the wall are exposed, but our main goal is building a house for you, General Selenia.” She answered.

Selenia: “And where would we get the materials for such an endeavor?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.

Vana: “The materials are already here, General. The previous general had kept all of the supplies sent by the kingdom, with the intent to sell them. As such, none of the walls or parts of the fort have been repaired for many years.” She explained.

Selenia: “Focus on the walls first. That forest we went to has easy access to this fort, and it seems to be an entrance to a different kingdom.” I advise.

Vana: “…”

Selenia: “What?” I ask with a head tilt.

Vana: “We’ve stayed up all night to build your new house, General Selenia…” She said with a guilty tone.

Shit… that meat seemed to have a very powerful effect. No wonder that shit is so damn pricey… Hm… maybe I could sell some of the meat sometime?…

Selenia: “…How far along is it?” I ask with a sigh.

Vana: “It is finished, General. We’re just still in the process of adding furniture.” She replied.

Selenia: “Furniture? Where did you acquire furniture?” I ask with a curious tone.

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Vana: “We ventured into that forest and chopped down trees. With the lumber, we crafted furniture for you, General.” She answered.

Selenia: “…”

Vana: “General?” She asked.

Selenia: “Inform me when it is finished, please. Once done, take a break and then focus on repairing the rest of the fort.” I order with a sigh.

Unlike the unprofessional Vana from just yesterday, Vana saluted me and calmly left my office. I didn’t expect such an amazing change in my soldiers… I kinda regret killing so many of them off a few days ago. Oh, well. I can’t change the past.

Saya: “~Hey, Selenia~” She said with a seductive tone into my ear.

Selenia: “Saya!?” I exclaim after jumping out of my seat.

What is this cheeky assassin doing here? How did she even find this place?… Ah, now that I think about it, taking me to this fort seemed to have been Cirilia’s and Saya’s plan. So it makes sense why she knows about it.

Saya: “~Hey!~” She said with a smile.

Selenia: “You don’t have to repeat it… Ah, what do you want, dear friend of mine?” I say with a slightly annoyed tone.

Saya: “I need some of that Hell Bull meat, Selenia!” She exclaimed.

Selenia: “Then buy it somewhere else? My soldiers need food, I can’t give you any of it.” I deny.

Saya: “I can’t buy it!” She said with a pout.

Selenia: “Why not?” I reply with a head tilt.

Saya: “Only the royal family can! Sure, there are exceptions, such as people who the royal family really likes can buy it. But otherwise, it is almost impossible to buy! On the black market, the price is almost high enough to buy a small estate, for just one fucking pound of it!” She explained.

Selenia: “…What do you need it for?” I ask while rubbing my head.

Saya: “It’s properties are amazing, and it is said to taste very good. I only want one steak for me, and one for my boss. I am not asking for you to feed my entire guild.” She replied.

Selenia: “Fine…” I reply.

Saya: “Yay!” She said with a happy tone.

Selenia: “…”

I was hoping that I would get something out of this exchange, but Saya quickly fled my office. Okay, even if I don’t get anything, maintaining a good relationship with Saya and the guild is still worth it in the end.

Speaking of Saya, she is different now. Her previous personality seemed to be fake, as how she acts around me right now really seems like her true self. Does that mean that she trusts me a lot? Well, I did tell her my grand plan, after all…

Hours Later.

Vana informed me that my house was already completed, but I had piles on piles of paperwork to get done, so I haven’t looked at it just yet. That fucker… I wish that Cirilia tortured him before she killed him. Leaving all of this paperwork for me to go through…

Saya: “~Selenia~” She whispered once again into my ear, but I didn’t get spooked this time.

Selenia: “How did the steak taste…” My words were cut off.

Sana looked to be practically glowing… Did I accidentally feed her something radioactive? No. I didn’t notice before, but it seemed that Saya was somewhat sickly. And now that meat had cured her completely.

Saya: “Selenia, I will listen to your orders over the guild master from now on.” She said with a bow.

Selenia: “???”

Saya: “Confused? Well, I do have a good relationship with the guild master, but it is true that she held something over me. Hell Bull meat is practically impossible to get, but she still promised to get me some. Once I heard your soldiers talking about it, my heart could hardly contain itself.” She explained.

Selenia: “There wasn’t any other cure for your sickness?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.

Saya: “No health potions worked, so Hell Bull meat was really my only possible cure. Did you know? I was probably going to die in a few years, but not anymore.” She replied with a happy yet slightly sad tone.

Selenia: “Huh!? Then eat some more!” I exclaim.

Saya: “Calm down! I am completely cured now, don’t worry.” She said with a reassuring tone.

Selenia: “Good.” I say with a relieved sigh.

Saya told me more about her sickness, but it was something very unique. Not many people really understood it at all, let alone found a cure for it that wasn’t ridiculously expensive. Afterwards, Saya put a map out on my desk. Then she explain a very, very crazy plan to me…
