Chapter 17: God's and Goddesses.
(Selenia’s POV)
Selenia: “Radahn, it’s been an entire hour… Could you please explain all, or at least some of this to me?” I ask with a sigh.
Radahn: “I cannot, Selenia.” He replied with still bowing.
Selenia: “Please? I am so confused…” I pleaded.
Radahn: “…”
As it was late, Radahn left my room without even looking me in the eyes, and I went to bed. No one seemed to be willing to explain anything to me, and even Rana refused to look me in the eyes… I felt very upset, as I had no idea why this was happening…
As I slept, I seemed to have an odd dream… A fire red haired woman was drinking what I assume was tea, and I was sitting at the table with her. What the heck kind of dream was this? Ah, am I finally getting my overpowered isekai bullshit now!?
Red-haired Woman: “Besides what I’ve already given you, there is nothing else for now.” She said with a laugh.
Selenia: “Huh? Is this a dream, or are you a real person?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.
Marika: “Person? No. I am a Goddess, dear child. Specifically, the Goddess of War.” She answered.
Selenia: “Goddess of War? Is that why I know how to fight?…” I ask with an unsure tone.
Marika: “Please do not undermine your efforts.” She said with a smile.
Selenia: “Huh? What do you mean?” I ask with a head tilt.
Marika: “I only blessed you with my knowledge after you killed that king, the man named Albert. Everything before then was your own effort and hard work.” She explained.
My effort? Hm… That would make more sense… If today’s me went back in time, I would have just slit Albert’s throat instead of stabbing my knife into his head. I, at the very least, had enough strength to kill him that way, even without Sana’s help.
Selenia: “Why bless me? Please understand, but I would hate to be some higher being’s pawn.” I ask with a serious tone.
Marika: “You drastically changed the fate of this world with your action of killing Albert. I blessed you before any other higher being could, as I know a good deal when I see one.” She answered.
Selenia: “A good deal? What do you even get out of this?…” I ask with a confused tone.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Marika: “The more people that believe in you, the more powerful I get.” She replied.
Selenia: “Do all higher beings spy on everyone?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.
Marika: “No. My connection to you was through the other person I’ve blessed, Cirilia.” She denied.
Selenia: “Wait… if you’ve blessed Cirilia, then why doesn’t everyone bow and not look her in the eye like they’re doing to me?” I ask with a thinking pose.
Marika: “Looking or talking when not spoken to, to a blessed person, is considered blasphemy. Not until I state that I’ve blessed you, and that people can talk to you, will they to return to as before.” She explained.
Marika explained a bit more to me. As you would expect, this dimension is one where higher beings exist. Too powerful to fight each other, as it would greatly damage whatever dimension they fight in, they bless people instead. Luckily for me, this dimension isn’t a main board in their creepy game.
From what Marika explained to me, it was a fantasy world, but slightly more hardcore. For instance, you won’t find any super magical potion that can grant any wish. Healing potions do exist, though. Marika couldn’t explain much to me, as it was against the rules of the game.
Apart from her, there are only two other higher beings involved in this dimension, whose identities she can’t tell me about. They’re highly respected in this world, so being clearly being blessed by the Goddess of War, Marika, was what caused everyone to react like that.
Selenia: “My identity won’t be leaked to the entire world, right?” I ask with a nervous tone.
Marika: “No. Those in the fort will be required to agree to silence on you being blessed. Of course, I will have to announce that I blessed another person, but I won’t give any description of them, nor what country they live in. Ah, you can tell anyone you want you to that you’ve been blessed by me. But you will have to prove it to them yourself.” She replied.
Selenia: “And do I have to do anything for you?” I ask.
Marika: “As long as you continue to get more and more people to believe in you, the more power I gain. That is all that I ask of you. Now then, I have used a decent bit of power to talk to you, so I have to end this conversation now.” She answered.
Selenia: “Alright. Thanks for the blessing and bothering to explain this to me. I really appreciate it.” I reply with a smile.
The world flashed around me, and I startled awake… Looking around, it was clearly still the middle of the night. The information given to me by Marika was very limited in scope, but it was enough to think about for a while.
With me being a soldier, Marika’s blessing is a literal God… Goddess-send. Rather than spend a bunch of time learning how to fight, I can just focus on building up my strength. Now that I think about it, her blessing didn’t just extend to weapons.
She is the Goddess of War, after all. Which is why I was quickly able to come up with an interesting plan… The Alwessal Empire refuses to do anything about the war, and probably won’t until the last fucking minute. The young lord isn’t evil, he is just a puppet.
The people actually in control seemed to just be greedy. My plan is to take over a few of the neighboring kingdoms. Alwessal doesn’t want to deal with the war, but I am sure that Sooven would like the extra land. Of course, I need to lead an army without Radahn’s help.
If he was there in the takeover, it would be very unlikely for me to be promoted. Eventually, if I do enough for Sooven, they will promote me, even without Alwessal’s permission. Which is the main plan for now.
The night was late, but I was far too awake to go to sleep at the moment. With a sigh, I knew that I needed more information before I can act. Luckily, I knew of a certain maidly assassin that I could call and ask for information… Taking out that contact crystal Sana gave me from under my bed, I wondered how I actually use it…
