“I remember when you were a kid, you used to do this thing called break dancing. Do you still do that?” A middle-aged man says to Taylor with a pat on his shoulder.
Taylor laughs awkwardly. “No, uncle. I haven’t done that in years,” He replies with an embarrassing look at his past.
“Well, anyway, happy birthday kid. You’re an adult now; you’re going to have to start thinking about the future. I’ll let you get back to it,” The middle-aged man says with a grin.
“Thanks uncle,” Taylor says with a smile before moving towards the door to the front yard in an attempt to get a moment away from his family. Entertaining guests is such a chore; hopefully, my friends will show me a better time tonight, Taylor thinks with a sigh before opening the door.
After stepping outside, he breathes in the fresh air and suddenly had the urge to take a walk. After walking down a few blocks and taking a few turns, he happens across a garage sale.

Thinking it was interesting he walks towards the tables of random items to see if there was anything he could use. There were a lot of kid toys and video games; and a lot of books. One of the books looks much older than the rest, so curious, Taylor went over to pick it up. There was some script on the cover, but it wasn’t in a language he could understand. As he went to pick it up, his finger is caught on a page and gets cut. Some blood flows and stains the book.
“Hey, kid. You bleed on it you buy it,” A middle-aged man says from nearby.
“Ah, what? It was an accident. I just wanted to take a look,” Taylor says with a hint of panic.
“Nope; you bleed on it you buy it. Them’s the rules,” The middle-aged man states matter-of-factly.
“Come on. It’s my birthday; can’t we just let it go?” Taylor asks with a bitter grin.
“Oh, it’s your birthday? Well then, lucky for you because we’re having a birthday sale today. The book was a dollar but for you… 50% off at 50 cents; what do you say?” The middle-aged man says with a teasing smile.
“Ah, fine!” Taylor says with some exasperation. He pays the man 50 cents and leaves with the book.
As he walks Taylor takes another look at the book and sees the title. Hmm, I thought it was in a different language but it’s in English, Taylor thinks, feeling that it was peculiar. There was only one word on the title, ‘Cultivation’.
