Chapter 10 - Just Shut Up

Taylor was pacing back and forth outside his house, trying to distract himself from his bloodlust as he waited for Johan.

Another primal howl was heard, but this time it was closer.

Taylor heard the beating of a running animal, coming closer and closer.

Another howl was heard and Taylor smelled it instantly; there was blood in the air. The smell of blood and the red light shining down on him seemed to push Taylor over the line as his eyes slowly grew dark with a reddish hue. The beast should learn to share. Taylor thought instinctively as he began to walk, following the alluring scent like an animal drawn to a pie on a window sill.

Taylor began walking faster as the scent drew closer, and eventually, he couldn’t contain himself and broke out into a full sprint.

Taylor rounded a block and came upon a hulking beast, tearing at the flesh of a dead man. As Taylor approached, the werewolf looked up at him and let out another howl before lunging forward towards Taylor.

Taylor activated his Gravity Scale technique and sent a fist towards the werewolf’s face, forcing it to the ground. “Little wolf! So far away from home!” Taylor yells excitedly as he climbs on top of the beast to continue beating it. The deep sounds of heavy impacts resounded through the empty street, echoing through the chaotic neighborhood filled with the sounds of barking dogs and other wild animals. Taylor continued to punch relentlessly at a slow and even tempo, slowly enjoying the act as he lost awareness of his surroundings.

“Let go of him!” A deep voice ordered through a snarl.

Taylor looks up with his red eyes and sees another hulking beast, much larger than the one he was pummeling. Taylor instinctively became wary; this beast was stronger than him. Taylor gets up and jumps back, then activates his teleportation array to summon his sword. Taylor smelled a struggle for life approaching and his thoughts faded away as he focused on only one thing; survival.

Taylor felt someone pull on his shoulder and he instinctively wanted to retaliate, but as his body pivoted and readied itself to strike he saw Sylvie’s worried face. His instincts instantly took a hit, his emotions beating it back into place as the red receded from Taylor’s eyes. He gave Sylvie a bitter smile before his gaze found the ground in shame.

Sylvie ignored him and took a few steps forward to speak to the werewolf who was seething with rage.

“He’s also been influenced by the blood moon.” She says with a heavy voice, implying a desire for peace but the willingness to make a stand if things went too far.

“He should know better!” The werewolf growls before spitting on the ground with disgust. “He’s already grown and he’s acting like a child. Take him away before this becomes a blood feud with our clan.” He says before ignoring the couple to approach the beaten wolf cub, ignoring the corpse on the ground.

“Taylor, you dumb, dumb idiot. There’s a Werewolf Ancestor behind that clan. That’s an eighth stage powerhouse. If they decide to come for you, no one can stop them.” Johan says with a shake of his head.

Taylor was slumped on the couch, holding a bag of ice to his face, hoping for his head to cool down. “How was I supposed to know? Just a little cub. Whatever.” He says, trying not to acknowledge his guilt.

“Taylor, you dumb, dumb idiot. Any member of a werewolf clan is considered untouchable to the rest of the clan. They’re willing to sacrifice a lot of things for family. I know you killed a few werewolves during the Hanz thing, but that was a different kind of struggle. Actually, those guys probably haven’t let it go yet. They’ll probably come for you when you least expect it.” Johan says casually, causing Taylor’s forehead to crease with worry.

“Fuck.” Taylor says with a sigh. “I hate it when it becomes a family thing. I have nothing to stand on when it becomes that way.” He grumbles, finding it a little unfair.

“Just shut up, Taylor.” Johan says with a little annoyance. “For now, pack your shit. We’re going to my place.” He says before leaving to find Taylor’s dad.

Taylor’s began to ring and he let out a sigh.

“What?” Taylor answers.

“Where are you? I’m at your house. There’s a little vampire here, but I can’t find you.” Raz says over the phone.

Taylor chuckles. “Why? Did you want to ride out the storm with me? Also, who’s the little vampire?” He asks with a smile and tired eyes.

“Says his name is Daryl. And I don’t want to ride the storm out with you. I want to ride the storm out with Jesse.” Raz responds.

Taylor sighs. “Then come over. I’m at my dad’s place. Bring the little vampire too.” He says before closing his eyes.
