Chapter 29 - Bona-Fide

“Yo, I need a gun.” Taylor calls Brolly to say.

“Why? Who you planning to kill? Also, good job the other day by the way. The Mountain Climbers are going to have to think twice before trying anything.” Brolly responds back.

“Yeah, that whole thing was basic. The higher-ups warned me of the people behind them, and that day made me realize that I need a gun. Also, if you have a place to try it out, that would be nice.” Taylor says.

“Yeah, we have a shooting range. Just go over and ask them for one. They'll handle the paperwork for the license too.” Brolly says.

“Awesome. Thanks man. I owe you.” Taylor responds.

“Ugh. Do you want a tutorial?” The man asks as he watches Taylor holding the gun in front of the target.

“Nah.” Taylor responds as he takes aim at the target. You aim a gun, what are you aiming at? To live another day? To protect someone? To deny a life? Taylor asks himself. Today I just want to known if I can use this thing. He thinks.

***BANG***

Taylor looked at the target and saw that he hit the red dot at the head of the target. “Awesome.” Taylor responds. “Do you have anything bigger? Like a sniper rifle?” Taylor asks with a laugh, not completely serious.

“Yeah, we got one. Want to try it out? There's a field in the back.” The man says.

Taylor chuckles. “Sure, why not.” He says.

“Fuck, who do you want dead? I said I owe you one but this is a little soon don't you think?” Taylor exclaims.

“My girl's ex. He's been harassing her. I'd do it myself, but I at least want plausible deniability.” Brolly replies.

“Fuck, fine. But you have to help me set up a sniper shot. I've always wanted to use one of those.” Taylor says with a chuckle.

“No hesitation, eh? I heard this would only be the second time for you. Will it be worth it?” Brolly asks, just to make sure. He didn't want this kid to come crying to him when the guilt hit him.

“Whatever. My hands are already stained. And the world will continue to move. What's one less guy in the world?” Taylor replies, not quite sure if he believed himself.

“Whatever. Just don't whine about it afterwards.” Brolly says.

***BANG***

“Boom. Headshot.” Taylor says quietly, watching as he took another life. He took a breath just to calm himself and let the moment sink in.

Fuck that was loud. I better get out of here. He thinks before putting the sniper in the guitar case and leaving.

“Shut the fuck up. I don't want payment for murder. The Burnout Water pays enough. Just take your favor and get the fuck out of here.” Taylor says over the phone.

“Alright man. Whatever. But that's twice now. I don't think there's any going back from this. You're a bona-fide killer, my dude.” Brolly says over the phone.

Taylor sighs. “Yes. Yes, I am.” He says. He could really use a drink right now.
