“So… Should we chase after him?” Taylor asks, continuing to lie back and catch his breath.
“Are you good to go? We can take a break if you want. Catch up to him tomorrow maybe.” Hanz says with a hint of concern.
“Nah, I'm good.” Taylor says as he sits up before getting back on his feet. “Let's go?” He asks with a smile.
At that moment, Hanz's phone begins to ring. Hanz holds up a finger. “Just a moment.” He says as he pulls out his phone.
“What? I'm busy.” Hanz says with some disgruntlement.
Hanz takes a moment to listen before letting out a sigh. “Alright, alright. Get off my back. I’ll be back soon.” He says before ending the call. He looks to Taylor and gives him a bitter smile. “It looks like we’ll have to postpone our hunt, Taylor. The clan called. Apparently I’ve been messing around for too long. Our research trip and the kind demon traitor gave us time, but as always, there’s work waiting.” Hanz says, feeling it was a little unfortunate.

Hanz was quite enjoying the time he’s been spending with Taylor, which was peculiar to him. When he first met the little cultivator, he thought the kid had spunk, which was worth his initial interest, but like so many others, he thought he would get bored, either out of banality or frustration from his personality.
But if he was to speak honestly, he quite liked this kid. He liked what he did for the blood thralls, and he liked how he bowed his head to the association. Taylor found a way for those idiots and Hanz appreciated that. And there were other things… Taylor was open to killing but he understood it for what it was. He also understood what work was necessary outside of expectations. And as Hanz spent this time with Taylor, he realized, although the little prick had many flaws, in his own little ways, Taylor was pushing for the world he desired. Whatever dream was lingering in Taylor, Hanz thought it could be beautiful, and he wished to become a larger part of it. As for whether Taylor was the man Hanz thought he was, it would require a longer relationship to figure out…
“Ah, work. It always seems to be that.” Taylor says with a chuckle. “What are you going to do with the demon?” He asks, curious.
“Let the little demon enjoy life for a little longer. The next time we’re both free, we’ll go for another hunting trip.” Hanz says with a smile.
Taylor smirks. “Okay. Are you driving back with me or are you flying home?” He asks with a raised eyebrow.
Hanz pauses and thinks about it. “Work can wait a few days. Let’s drive back.” He says before floating up into the air. “C’mon. Let’s find the car.” He says before flying off.
Taylor smiles. He thought this whole trip would be tedious. But Hanz wasn’t a bad guy. His view of the world just happened to be from a very high place, and although his ideas were a little weird, Taylor could still see it, this prick wasn’t wrong.
Taylor sighs and floats up into the air. I guess a few more days wouldn’t be so bad… He thinks before following.
