Chapter 8.5

Shiloh asked about the eyes and the healing touch. Endermon said that he was never facing her when it happened and he was passed out when she healed him, so he wouldn't know anyway. Shiloh said that made sense. Rutus asked what all Shiloh could do, and Shiloh said she had super speed and was stronger than she looked.

Endermon nudged her and Shiloh sighed dramatically. She said she could travel about in the daytime, and could influence people's minds. Rutus didn't believe her when she said that, and demanded a demo. Endermon warned Shiloh to be nice.

Shiloh made no promises, but had Rutus doing random things for a few minutes. When Rutus said enough, Shiloh stopped. Rutus asked if Shiloh had tried anything on Endermon, and she said she had, but it didn't work. Once again, Rutus wanted proof. Shiloh tried her best and Endermon kept asking what was supposed to be happening.

Shiloh said as much fun as she was having, she wanted to see what Rutus could do. So taking out a knife, Rutus asked what was her favorite animal, and Shiloh looked at Endermon and said a dragonfly.

Rutus's fingers glowed as she heated up and started to mold the metal. It was pretty cool to see her fold and crease the metal like it was paper. And within a few minutes had a dragonfly pin that she handed to Shiloh. Impressed, she affixed it to her top. Rutus said she could also complete projects in a fraction of time it would take a regular person to do.

She then said that Dresden can perfectly shift into any animal and copy it exactly. Also what caused him to black out was too many animal instincts that made him go into a rage. So Shiloh said don't make him mad, got it.

They snickered and got ready for bed. They figured Dresden wouldn't make it back to his room before morning anyway, and they were right. Around midnight, they were all awakened by someone crashing around.

Shiloh peeked out the door and saw Dresden and some woman struggling to get into the room and out of their clothes at the same time. Rolling her eyes, she quietly shut the door. She reached out to her driver and got him to go out the window to the balcony, she would go get him and take him to the carriage.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

She zipped off and took care of her driver and zipped back into her room. Endermon stirred in her sleep as she settled in next to her, but the momentary awakeness was past. Amazingly the three of them slept through the morning.

While the three of them were packing up for the day, they heard a scream from next door. They all ran in and saw a large black dog lying on the bed, and a naked woman wrapped in a sheet.

Shiloh gave the poor woman some money and silently suggesting that she was imagining the whole thing. The woman, no longer terrified, calmly sauntered out in the sheet and carrying some money.

With the crisis averted, Endermon talked to the animal part of Dresden saying the building was on fire and he should leave right away. The dog jumped up and started to barge out the door, but as he woke up, wound up on all fours, charging for the door.

Then it hit him, there he was buck naked, and crawling around on the floor. To hide his embarrassment, he yelled at Shiloh and Endermon to get out. Rutus had already gone to make sure the poor woman got dressed at least.

Shiloh and Endermon went next door and continued packing. A few minutes later, a surly Dresden stomped into the room saying he was ready to go. When they went downstairs to pay, they saw Rutus talking to the woman, and the two of them looked awfully cozy.

Endermon cleared her throat and both of them looked disappointed when Rutus got up. The woman whispered something in Rutus's ear that made her turn a nifty shade of red. With one last look, Rutus departed.

Once they were riding again, Rutus was lagging behind. Endermon whispered something to Shiloh, who got up and smoothly maneuved herself closer to her carriage and swiftly climbed up in the driver's seat.

Endermon slowed down her horse and asked Rutus what was wrong. She said nothing, but her body language said it was certainly not nothing, but not wanting to force the issue, said they could talk about it at the next stop.
