Chapter 2
As dawn broke in the mountains, she awoke to a bird tapping on her window. She opened it and the bird hopped in and dropped a rolled up paper into her hand. It was a note from her mother. She was just checking in, and hoped she was doing well. She threw in a few tidbits of what was going on at home.
Tearing up, Endermon almost packed up and went home but a note at the end caught her eye. It went on to say there were rumors of a magic potion that allowed its drinker the ability to either control animals or influence them heavily. Along with countless jewels and a lot of money.
She wrote a quick reply and sent the bird off. After gathering her stuff, she left the inn and headed to the marketplace. Or rather the handful of shops in that particular area. She traded her stuff she no longer needed for things she did need. She also got food and some small knives. Not for hunting or anything like that, but for future trading. Because it was common knowledge that Dwarven knives were of the finest quality and were quite valuable.
With her new possessions, she bid them farewell, and made her way down the mountain. Or at least to the trail that would head down the mountain. After trekking a ways, she found a decent spot to set up camp for the night.
In the morning, it occurred to her that she had not had a lot of interactions with her father since she left. She found the most ornate knife she had purchased. She called an eagle over and respectfully asked if she might drop the knife off at her castle for her father. With the promise of a future favor, the eagle majestically soared away with the knife in her talons.
With that taken care of, she packed up and continued down the mountain. The going was slow as she had nearly doubled what she was carrying. But a heavier load did nothing to dampen her spirits. She now had a quest. Or at least a direction in which to go. The only thing that would make it better, was if she had a traveling companion. Finally on flat ground she was thirsty so she thought she'd find a tavern.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
But, not knowing the area, she had to ask around. Most of the people she asked, said she should go to Ada's. And while she never got the same directions, the gist was the same. Go through town, over the bridge in the park, and look for the clock tower. It's around there.
She hoped there was an inn to go with the tavern, because quite frankly, she was tired of sleeping on the ground. No matter how adept she was at it. She made it to the edge of town by dusk. Asking the few out late were either too inebriated to give proper directions, or it was too dark to see landmarks.
After following the vaguest of instructions, she came upon a very welcoming sight. A two story building that simply read, Inn. She hoped they would have a room available at short notice, but alas, they were full. But if she left her name, she would be notified. However if she wanted less desirable accommodations, there was a tavern down the street that had rooms for people too unsteady on their feet to stay til morning.
After getting clear instructions she gathered her travel pack, gave the clerk some coinage for their trouble, and headed to the tavern. She got a room with no trouble and headed back down and picked a table in the corner where she could observe without getting involved. At one point a fight broke out. And she stepped out to avoid it.
