Chapter 3
Shiloh watched her walk in and after taking a moment to compose herself, she walked confidently into the bar. She kept tabs on Endermon and would catch her looking her way on more than one occasion. Reaching into people's minds, told her that no one knew or cared enough to know that they knew each other.
Shiloh was wishing that she could read Endermon's mind to see if they were thinking the same things when a loud, broad shouldered man, or something posing as a man burst yhrough the door with two ladies of questionable morality.
She didn't have to read his mind to tell her that he had not obtained his money in a lawful manner. But that was not what interested her. She was hearing the garbage that came from his mouth and watching Endermon's reaction. She could feel the irritation rolling off of her. Feeling a surge of protectiveness, she used her super human speed to get to Endermon's side.
She felt bad about making her jump, but she really didn't want to see that look on her face. Endermon told her to stay there, because she was going to get a drink. She watched as she went up to the bar and bumped the man's elbow just as he was about to take a drink. She couldn't hear what was said, but was surprised when she angrily let her hair down.
As she stormed back, drink in hand, Shiloh asked if she needed help. She shook her head no, but proceeded to tell her what actually happened. When asked if she should take care of him, Endermon said no, but with a mischievous look in her eyes said she wouldn't mind if Shiloh took one of his companions.
A quick look told her which one would gain the most from this beast of a man, and not having eaten, would make a fine meal. Slipping into predator mode, she made her way to the maiden. And with a few well placed words and empty promises, she escorted her to the wash room.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
After eating and making it appear like a robbery, she went back to her corner and Endermon was in hers. They played the 'I don't know you' game. She was about to see if she'd like to go somewhere private, when a booming voice demanded everyone's attention.
A short woman in crude armor strode up to the bar. The bartender looked at her derisively and dismissed her. Endermon hopped up and smoothed over the situation. Shiloh looked on in wonder. She would have kept staring but some insistent thoughts told her the treasure would be at the river.
Knowing she couldn't pass up the opportunity, she headed out without a sound. She quickly got to her carriage and as quietly as she could, left the little town, and headed to the river.
She had just gotten the carriage hidden across from the bank of the river as the sun began to rise. She and her driver traded places and she slept.
She awoke to a note from her driver that said they needed provisions and he was off to procure them. She decided to look around to see if there were any more clues as to the location or direction of the treasure.
There was nothing obvious, so she headed down to the river. Not expecting anyone or anything, she was not as careful as she usually was and stepped on a twig. The next thing she knew she had a dagger to her throat.
When she saw Endermon at the other end of the dagger, the world stood still. She had one thought on her mind. She wanted Endermon more than anything. With her dagger put away, they embraced. A crash from the nearby bushes interrupted that.
They sprang apart with weapons at the ready. Shiloh decided to circle the perimeter, and zipped off. Not wanting to go too far she kept listening with her mind for danger.
Not finding anything, she came back to say she was going to sleep for the dawn was coming, but was asked to stay until Endermon slept, so she did.
