Chapter 11
Dresden gathered the leaders of the village to find out what happened, he asked the maid to take care of and console the children. Rutus went to the craftspeople to discuss weapons and defenses. Shiloh was helping put out fires and clear away debris. And Endermon was using her abilities to get the sick and injured villagers to a safe spot to assess their injuries.
Once a person was cleared, they either went to help the other able-bodied people cleaning up, or resting if the injuries were too taxing. Once all the villagers were checked over, and healed or resting, Endermon went to help Shiloh.
Together with the villagers, they were able to get a good portion of the debris cleared. They had gotten some buildings that were not too terribly smashed and set up a tavern, a makeshift hospital, a place for food, and an inn.
The entire village came together and by the end of the day had a large portion of village cleared and ready to begin construction. Endermon asked if they would mind help from outside to rebuild. After a quick consultation, the leaders said that they'd accept any help that they could get.
Since it was getting dark, the villagers went to their homes, well those that still had them. A portion went to the makeshift inn, and the rest grabbed blankets and slept outside. Somewhere or another Shiloh had gotten some paper, and before they went to sleep for the night, Endermon had written a request for aid from the fairy kingdom.
She sent it off with one of the more nocturnal villagers, and they all more or less went to bed. In the morning they gathered in front of the converted buildings. As they had a makeshift breakfast, they tried to take stock of what things were looking like.
There were still piles of rubble everywhere, some of the buildings had scorch marks, and most of those laid ill by the fires, or the aftermath were doing better. Well except for those seriously injured. Endermon said she had sent for help and it should be arriving in a few days.
The village leaders thanked her and breakfast was finished in a leisurely fashion. Then work commenced. Those who were able to, did, and the stronger ones started carting off the rubble to an area for re-use.

Endermon suggested sorting stuff into types of materials. That way if a villager needed something, they just needed to go to the correct pile. Since it was their own materials to begin with, there would be no money exchanged. Just not take too much.
They all thought this a good idea, and Dresden was put in charge of the sorting. He grabbed some of the more enthusiastic teenagers, and soon had an assembly line of sorts. They were working well into lunch time.
Endermon had to admit, that Dresden took to a leadership role very well. He handled disputes and knew when to encourage and when to shut things down. More than one time Endermon heard the kids saying how much they admired them. Them being Dresden and the maid.
But soon enough the teenagers were getting restless, and Dresden sent one to ask the leaders of the village if they could go hunt to increase food, and to spend some extra energy. When they got the go ahead, they took off.
The village was a lot quieter without them there, but it helped those who were unable to, or had other roles in the village, get stuff done. By the time the group got back, the not meat portion of lunch was complete.
Dresden and the others gotvto work saving enough meat for lunch, and the rest went for storage. But it was sorely needed. They got restocked and a large amount of food was laid out on any available surface.
People grabbed plates, and ate wherever they could sit, stand, or otherwise gather. People chatted about the village. They were making great progress, but the brunt of the repairs were still to be name. Those would have to wait for the fairies to deliver.
With everyone pitching in, lunch was cleaned up rather quickly. With less and less for the group to do, they went and talked to the leaders of the village. Dresden decided to stay and finish helping rebuild the village.
He said he would write to the group to keep them updated about when the aid came, and how the rebuilding was going. The others agreed and began their preparation to leave.
