Chapter 11.2

They said they joined up with them because things weren't going great. Jobs lost, people close to them dying, and just general misfortune. The three promised fame and riches. Or instant death if they didn't join up. So with nothing left to lose, they became the fourth and fifth members of the 'gang'.

Endermon told them to go home, or if they couldn't go home, to go somewhere and start over. When they said they didn't have any money because the 'leader' took it all, Endermon gave them enough for a night in an inn, and the names of people looking for workers.

The two took off at a quick but noticeably happier pace. Once they were out of sight, Shiloh showed up and asked if they were ready to have some real fun. They silently went into the trees to gind out what was going on.

Three voices arguing rang out throughout the otherwise quiet forest. When they were just out of sight of the three ruffians, they stopped to listen to the argument. One wanted to hit Dresden's village because it was still reeling from the first one.

The next one said they should do some old fashioned highway robbery. The third one suggested a few days journey to get to the two story estate. Endermon almost rushed in with her dagger ready to do the talking, when Shiloh put a hand on her arm.

The first one said it was too much work and still voted to go to Dresden's village. The second one said it was a good idea. The third one sulked and Saud the estate was better. Silence ensued as the three men tried to come up with a new plan.

This is when Shiloh got a fiendly gleam in her eyes. Then the second one said something about a rendezvous with a female member of the first ones family. He did not take kindly to this and put a knife through the second one's hand.

When the third one laughed, a brawl broke out. Fists and weapons were flying about and it wasn't long before all three were down, severely injured and bleeding. Shiloh was eying them hungrily.

Endermon held up two fingers, and then pointed one finger at Rutus. A couple of seconds later, there was the unmistakable sound of two lives ending. Endermon walked calmly up to the dying man and said she could heal him and he could go free, or she could get her shapeshifter friends to get him to explain why their village was targeted in the first place.

She healed an area and asked if it felt better. He could only nod. She went on to ask why he thought it was a good ideato hit the estate, and how he heard about it in the first place. He could only gasp out in pain.

Endermon was healing the man as slowly and as painlessly as she could, but it was taking too long. Endermon called Shiloh over and asked for help. Shiloh wandered over and listened for a bit. Endermon was doing her best, but his injuries were too great and he passed away.

Turns out, he was one of the maid's former employers. He was jealous that the maid never wanted to sleep with him. So after the party, he learned about the maid and Dresden's involvement. He convinced the first one to attack Dresden's village, hoping he was there.

When he wasn't, they ran, strong-arming the othe three into being part of the 'gang'. Which is why he was so eager to get back to the estate. He must have known he'd be doomed either way. Or if he hadn't, who knows what was going through his mind.

Together they cleaned up the area, gave them a quick burial, and gathered up all the stolen goods to take back to the shifter village. When they were done, the area looked like most any other hidden spot on the trees.

Shiloh took the stuff and took it back to the village. Endermon and Rutus got the horses ready. It wasn't long before Shiloh was back. Since it was late evening when she got back, they decided to set up camp for the night.

Once that was done, due to the events of the day, they all fell asleep rather quickly. In the morning after a quick breakfast, they set out again. They were riding, the events of the last few days weighing heavily on their minds.
