Chapter 10.2

She ended up going to the back yard, or at least the part of the land that was blocked by shrubbery on two sides, and started going through her exercises. She was so into it, she didn't hear Shiloh approaching. But feeling another person's energy, Endermon did a kind of somersault, and hopped up with a dagger pointed at Shiloh.

Shiloh said, 'easy tiger, you might hurt someone doing that, and in a flash, had gotten the dagger away from Endermon and was now pointing it at her.

Endermon smiled at the memory of how they met came flooding into her mind. When Shiloh grumbled and said she was so frustrated at that moment, Endermon knew they were thinking the same thing. Endermon held her arms out and they hugged it out.

Shilohsmiled as they stood there, list in their own little world, at least for a few moments. Until Dresden shouted out in surprise. Endermon put her dagger away as they ran. They saw the maid brazenly walking away with Dresden's shirt.

With nothing to be worried about, they laughed and went inside to wait for dinner, which should just about be ready. It didn't take long. With the houseperson helping, dinner was laid out on the table and there was an impressive spread.

They all started to eat and Endermon chided the maid for taking Dresden's shirt. She said she didn't mind if they engaged in otherwise illicit activities, but not to do it around the dinner table. The maid looked guilty for a second or two, then said no hanky panky around meal time, got it.

They all laughed and Endetmon invited the staff to eat as well. She said it was their hard work that put the food there, they might as well enjoy it. The houseperson said they would bring some to the stablehand and be right back.

As they ate and had a good time, Endermon said she knew someone else hired them, and for that she was eternally grateful, but if there was anything else they'd be interested in, Endermon would do her best to make sure they at least had a shot at it.

The staff sat there in complete silence, forks halfway to their mouths. The houseperson came in at that moment and asked what they missed. The cook said if there was something they wanted to pursue while employed, they may do so. Endermon said as long as it didn't interfere with the rules the mysterious benefactor set, she didn't see why not.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

They said thank you and they all went back to eating. And soon enough, the food was gone and the dishes were cleared away. They all went to their separate rooms. Well the original group did, I don't know where the staff went, they seemed to sink into the woodwork when not needed.

Shiloh and Endermon were cuddling when Endermon said she never asked about the stablehand. Shiloh said they were taken from an orphanage where they had managed all the animals. When the daughter took a fancy to them, they panicked and locked themselves in the barn.

This in turn, let the horses go, and it took several days to corral them and get the poor child out of the barn. Since they were technically too old for the orphanage, they unfortunately had to make their way on the streets for a bit.

Endermon said that was terrible and she'd have to find a way to help them without seeming too eager or overbearing. Shiloh said that she'd figure something out. Then she asked how it went with the houseperson. Endetmon said she didn't get a chance to talk to them, and she'd try again tomorrow.

They settled in to sleep, even though Shiloh was feeling frisky. Endermon said they could later, but for the moment was tired. With a kiss, Shiloh settled down, and they went to sleep.

After that night when they all ate dinner together, they began to act like a family, or at least had no lines of staff and employers. They all would take turns cooking, or doing chores, and no one complained about it.

Granted some people were better at things than others, but they all did their part in making the house run smoothly. The maid and Dresden began seeing each other exclusively, which was not a bad thing, because it got Dresden to clean more often.
