Chapter 2.3

Someone near her table swore they heard someone say that whatever it was allowed the bearer to understand animals. Endermon knew that she must go after this treasure. She went over to where Shiloh was last seen and heard someone say the treasure allowed vampires to walk in daylight. She wanted to ask Shiloh what she thought, but she was nowhere to be seen.

So she gathered her stuff to go upstairs and get a few hours of sleep before starting off on her adventure. She was just about done when Dresden happened by. She asked what he heard and he said he heard it was a talisman that when worn showed one's true form.

As he left she saw Rutus sitting at the bar dejectedly. She went and put a hand on her shoulder. When asked if she was okay, a shrug was all she got in response, deciding that then wasn't the best time. But she could swear she heard her mumble that when she got her hands on the treasure, no one would mess with her again. Endermon left quietly.

As she settled in her room, she thought about the events of the evening, and how everyone heard about the one thing that appealed to them most. She didn't know about the others, but she was headed out in the morning and was going to start looking for clues to this possible treasure. She sent a note to her parents by bat, and went to bed.

Waking up to a knock on her door, she shuffled over to open it. A gloved hand belonging to an unknown person gave her an envelope and then was gone. She was confused as she was certain that there had been no one who wore gloves last night. And this didn't seem like the kind of place that stood on ceremony like that.

She knew she should be suspicious of strange letters being delivered by strange couriers, but her curiosity got the best of her. The letter read that if she wanted to find out what the treasure was, she ought to head to the river where more would be revealed.

Stolen story; please report.

Skeptical, but excited, she gathered her stuff and left some change in the room for payment and made her way downstairs. As she got down there she noticed something odd. She found she could not remember any faces. Usually she had no problems with that, but here she came up blank.

Shaking her head as if to clear it, she stepped outside the door. She called a bird over and explained what happened and then sent it off to alert her parents. Not to have them come get her or anything like that, but just in case they might know something.

Remembering something she had wanted to ask, she was surprised to find just an alley between buildings. The clock tower bells rang out signaling that it was breakfast time. Her stomach agreed loudly and she went in search of a market stall to assuage her grumbling stomach.

After getting some food and other necessities, she inquired about the river. There was a common answer of a day's travel across the farmland on the edge of the town. They pointed her in the direction of the river, and she was off.

She was making good time, despite her heavier bag. But she hadn't practiced in a few days. So finding a deserted road she set up her bag and began going through her warm up. After a bit she moved into her actual sparring routine. After working up quite a sweat, she put her swords back and sat next to her pack to cool down. She took a drink of water out of her canteen. She thought about the events of the past couple days and decided that there was nothing that could be done right away, so she decided to take a nap.
