Getting back to her carriage just as dawn was breaking, Shiloh stepped inside and sat at the little table while she waited for her driver to wake up. She thought about the events of the evening. There was clearly something between them, but what?.
Getting cranky because she needed to sleep, she reached into the coffin and pulled the sleeping man out of there, as you would pull a blanket out of a box. Depositing him unceremoniously on the floor she eased herself into the coffin and pulled the lid closed.
After his somewhat rude awakening, he made his way to the campsite and was thankful to see breakfast being handed out. Though no one knew who he was, didn't say anything about it. Seeing Endrrmon and recognizing her from some of the notes Shiloh wrote to herself, told her that his mistress sends her regards and will see them at dusk, providing they were still there by the end of the day.
She nodded, and he went off to acquire a meal for Shiloh, and disappeared after thanking her for breakfast.
He made it to town and began his search. Meanwhile back at the carriage, Shiloh lay there asleep. Her dreams were troubling. One because she couldn't remember when she dreamt last. And two they were about Endermon.
They were flashes of what was and what could be. They described scenes of domestic bliss, ones of meeting her parents, and imagining what her castle looked like. She didn't know why Endermon affected her the way she did.
Shiloh grew frustrated. She was a vampire for crying out loud. People flocked to her, she could have her own kingdom, should she desire it, and here she was, pining after a mortal woman who could talk to animals. But at the same time, it was nice to have someone however secret it may be.
She woke up to a tapping on the door. After getting up and smoothing the wrinkles from her clothing, went out to have breakfast. After cleaning up, headed towards the river.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
She could hear three voices and two minds. Smiling, she crossed the road and leaned against a tree. Seeing the obnoxious man from the tavern, she became guarded. Putting on a fake smile, she asked if she missed the party.
Endermon was clearly wanting to go to Shiloh, but they weren't supposed to know each other. She had Shiloh come closer to introduce herself. Shiloh agreed and sat down on a trunk of a tree that had recently fallen. She gave her name and said she was on a personal quest, but would join them if they were amenable to it.
With that out of the way, they talked about random stuff. Theories about what and where the treasure was, how well known it was, etc. Wanting some time alone with Endermon, Shiloh began speaking to the other two's minds. She suggested that they go to bed and things would be talked about in the morning.
If Endermon found something suspicious about the two leaving at the same time, she didn't show it. When they were alone Endermon dropped the polite princess on a quest routine, and moved to where Shiloh was sitting. Relishing the contact they shared, Shiloh was delighted when Endermon inserted herself under Shiloh's arm, and snuggled in.
They sat there for quite a while, either talking quietly or just enjoying each other's presence. It wasn't long until Endermon kept trying and failing to hide her yawns from Shiloh.
Shiloh understood, and gently told Endermon that she should probably go to bed. Then she sweetly gave Shiloh a kiss on her cheek and went to sleep. She watched her leave, and just sat by the dying fire, trying to process what she was feeling towards Endermon.
With no resolution in sight, and dawn rapidly approaching, she sighed and headed back to the carriage. She patted the horses as she passed, and they whinnied in response. Writing a quick note for her driver, she got him up, or at least where he could wake up at his own pace, and lay down for the day. She hoped she didn't have more dreams to worry about.
