Chapter 11.6

Sighing fondly, Endermon put down what she was trying to read and said she was going to their room. Shiloh was welcome to follow if she wished. Grinning triumphantly, Shiloh giddily followed Endetmon to their room.

Later that night they lie there and were seriously talking. They discussed everything. It hit Endermon that she was sort of homesick. She wanted to go back to visit before hanging up her independence. Shiloh said it made sense, seeing as she had to go back and rule at some point.

They decided to leave within the next few days, but they wanted her visit home to be a surprise to her parents. With half a plan forming in their minds, they went to sleep.

In the morning they gathered everyone in the sun room. They said they wanted to visit Endermon's parents and would need a couple days to get things ready. They answered all the questions and then everyone dispersed for the day.

Well everyone except Rutus, she seemed to have something on her mind. They sat down and Rutus asked if it was just going to be Shiloh and Endermon going on the trip. Endermon said Rutus could come if she wanted.

Rutus asked quietly if they could stop in the mountains before Endermon's. She said of course they could. If Rutus wanted to visit home first, she saw no problem with that. The relief in the room was palpable.

Rutus grinned an ran off to tell the servant. Endermon smiled and went to find Shiloh and tell her the news. When she did, Shiloh said she hated the cold, it dulled her powers and made her need to eat more often.

Endermon said they'd figure something out, and Shiloh sighed and said for Endermon, she'd do anything. But if another vampire heard her say that, she'd deny it. Not that there were many other vampires around, but you get the picture.

The next couple of days passed in a flurry of activity. There were horses to get ready, a cart to pack, winter clothes to get in case the mountains got too cold, and a number of other things to do.

The staff didn't need instructions, they had it down by now. Do a room sweep every couple of days, check on horses, don't let anyone in without written permission, etc. etc.

But they were ready to embark on their journey. Rutus had made some fur lined armor for the colder months that were rapidly approaching. And to no one's surprise, it fit perfectly. Each set perfectly tailored to the wearer's needs.

She even made a set for Dresden. She made pieces for the maid, well actually the servant made the maid's armor under the watchful eye of Rutus. They had actually come quite far in their blacksmithing journey.

The cart had food, blankets, cots, cookware, extra wood should they not come across any suitable. (but they were traveling through a forest, for crying out loud) They had money hidden away for emergencies, and some extra provisions for Shiloh.

They were about ready to go, when the servant ran out of the house. Rutus hopped of her horse and went to ask them what was wrong. They said wrong wasn't the case. They told Rutus to be careful and they'd be thinking of her the entire time.

Shiloh and Endermon had to fight to not say anything. They watched as the servant whispered something to Rutus, and they kissed. Shiloh let out a wolf whistle and the servant turned bright red.

Rutus, however, flipped Shiloh off and kissed the servant again. It was clear they wished to continue, possibly to the bedroom, but Rutus reluctantly separated frome the servant. With tender words passed between them, they were finally on their way.

Rutus could not stop grinning like a fool. They rode on in silence until Shiloh said, "You and the servant, eh?" Rutus said yes, was there any problem with that? Shiloh just smirked and said it was about time. Rutus rode her horse nearer to shiloh and playfully swatted her arm.

There was good natured bickering between the three of them as they rode down the familiar path by the river. They still used the mermaid flask, but with running water nearby, they didn't use it much.
