Chapter 8

As they rode back to their campsite, Dresden still had not said anything. He didn't even have any smart-ass remarks about the missing treasure, not to mention, no bragging about all the things he had done to help the mission. Dresden was annoying, but not hearing his voice if even to tune him out was unnerving.

Endermon had the horses all stop and everyone dismounted. She went up to Dresden and asked if he was okay. He turned on her and got up in her face. He was nearly yelling as he asked if it looked like he was okay.

He continued yelling at Endermon as his frustration and their not ever finding the treasure. He called her all sorts of nasty things and accused her if trying to get them lost or killed all for a treasure that didn't exist.

At first Endermon was startled, as he had never fully yelled at her before. Yes, he would snap at her, but he would eventually feel remorse and apologize in his own way, or at least avoid her for a short amount of time. But this time, it was like an animal was raging in human form, and Dresden was locked away somewhere deep inside.

Endermon knew that slapping or striking Dresden would only make the situation worse, so she got right back in his face and calmly, but sternly told him it was his idea to join her and if he wished to leave, he was free to. But if he were to come at her like that again, and he would be in a world of hurt.

To make her point, she pulled out her dagger and brought it dangerously close to his face with the deadly point aimed for his eye. This didn't reach the human side of Dresden, but the animal side recognized the dominant female energy, and retreated.

Dresden took off shifting into a large predatory animal as he went. With one member of their crew off to fight with his demons, the other two decided that this was as good a time as any to make camp and hope that Dresden returned safely.

With nothing better to do, they started talking about what happened in the hole in the ground. Endermon told Rutus that she was pretty sure she made wildflowers grow, and that she was certain she saw sparks coming off of Rutus's hands.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Rutus stared at her hands. She grabbed a stick st the edge of the fire and stared at it really hard. Nothing happened. Endetmon tried to get some grass to grow, and nothing happened there either. It was then that Endermon remembered it all kicked off after coming in contact with the red powder.

She was still disappointed that she was not able to take it back to camp with her. Endermon shoved her hands into her pockets in frustration. When her hand hit fabric, she paused. She pulled out the package and saw it was a drawstring bag.

Rutus asked where she had hidden it and when exactly, did she have time to grab it. Endermon stared at the bag and said she hadn't, she was just thinking how she wished she did. They sat back and thought about what it all meant.

Rutus picked up a part of her armor and noticed there was some surface damage on it. She rubbed the area and it started to get hot. Soon it was glowing a bright orange, and Rutus stopped. So apparently it was just with metal that she could manipulate.

Rutus put down the armor and slowly the metal cooled down. The damage was gone. Then Endermon said that Dresden's new ability was to go into a blind rage at any opportunity. She was joking, but did wonder what else he could have acquired. Last time, it was a complete transformation, where all skills and abilities of any animal could be achieved in just a thought.

Either way, Endermon carefully put the bag in her belongings and made sure it was out of sight. Rutus went about looking at all the armor, besides Dresden's obviously, and started fixing all the bad or worn out patches. Soon both sets looked as good as new.

Endermon was tired, so she told Rutus to wake her if Dresden got back. With that out of the way, she laid down and took a nap. A sweet kiss woke her up. Shiloh was grinning at her and once she was fully awake, was swept into a massive comforting hug.
