Chapter 10.4

Endermon was thinking they should have a letterbox so an in town visit wouldn't be necessary. But it gave them all some time away from the house, so I suppose it could wait.

It was around lunch time when they finally got the place straightened out. All the trash had been gathered into a pile for burning, the food was in a compost heap for gardening later on, and the place was how it looked before the party.

It was sometime after lunch time when the two of them came back from town, seeing as they'd walked there. When they went straight to Dresden who was lying down in the grass, Endermon thought that was strange. From where she was sitting in the study, she could see them talking, but not what was being said. All she could see was Dresden looking more and more agitated.

Finally, Dresden stormed off and the maid went after him. Endermon stretched and went to find out what just happened. She found Rutus in her forge working on something metal. Knocking on the wall, Endetmon stepped inside.

She asked Rutus if everything was okay. Rutus shrugged and said someone accosted the servant in town. It wasn't serious, they were only lookin for Dresden. Endetmon asked if the people even knew what Dresden looked like. Rutus smirked and said no they just needed to find him. Seems like something is going down in his village.

Endermon's attitude shifted from concerned to accident prevention. She told Rutus to help get the others gathered in the sun room. She said okay, and Endermon went to get everyone in one place.

After a few minutes everyone was standing or sitting in the sun room. They looked to Endermon for any clue as to what was going on. She said it had come to her attention that something was happening in Dresden's village.

There was murmurings around the room. She held her hands up for silence. When they quieted down, she said she didn't know fir sure if it was a dangerous situation, but they would need to be supportive of Dresden right now.

Stolen story; please report.

If he felt the need to go and get it sorted, they could figure out what to do then, if not, he could always send a letter to his village to see what was going on. Dresden, who was usually the first to have a snarky remark, was staring at the floor.

He said he was touched by her concern, but he needed some time to figure out how he felt, nevermind that something might have to be done about it. He asked that they just give him some space and he'd let them know.

With the meeting finished, they went to their various jobs and rooms. The maid hung back and asked if she could speak to Endermon. She said okay, and they sat on the chairs by the window. It was obvious to Endetmon that the maid was expecting. She asked her what she could help ger her with.

The maid said she was worried about traveling. Knowing what she meant, but not saying anything about it, Endermon asked if she needed calming potions or better accommodations. The maid said nothing like that, no 'that' part was rather exciting.

No, she was worried how his village might treat her. She was an outsider, and had no shifting abilities. Endermon held her hand and said Dresden would take care of her. At least he should, or he would soon be getting a talking to by quite a few angry people.

She told her Dresden was an asshole, but he was a very loyal asshole. It had been proven many times over. But if she get she needed added protection, she should convince Dresden that he should go with at least one of the original group to help should something happen to either of them. The maid hugged Endermon and said she guessed a serious talk with Dresden was in order.

They parted and Endermon went to the stables to talk to the horse's. She nodded at rhe stable hand as she entered and went straight to her horse. As they talked, the other horses started making noises of protest. With a kiss on the nose of her horse, she went to the other horses and had chats with them as well.
