Chapter 3.1

Dresden started in on a story of how he saved a maiden from certain death. He embellished many details and painted himself in a very favorable light. He mentioned wrestling a bear, nevermind that there were no bears in the area. He went on to say that after saving the maiden she gave him a special reward.

He was about to take a drink when one of the patrons bumped his elbow, causing his beer to go down his front. He threatened the offender, but his jaw hung open when he saw Endermon shake out her hair. She said it didn't happen quite like he said, and if he wished to lie, to make sure said person wasn't around.

So much for them thinking how great he was. He had barely turned back to the ladies, when a raven haired beauty wearing thigh high boots, a blood red corset dress and paler than average skin stepped up and started chatting to the woman on his left.

He watched as she left with the woman and disappeared. He turned to the lady on his right and was trying to be charming, but she had found someone with deeper pockets. He glared into his beer lamenting his luck, when a loud voice demanded the bartender's best ale.

He looked at the door and watched as a short woman in armor that looked as if it had been scavenged from the trash, strode up to the bar. He snickered to himself as the bartender said children weren't allowed at the bar. He continued watching as Endermon vouched for the short woman. This was enough to get her a drink. He locked eyes with Endermon as she smirked at him then disappeared into the crowd.

He had not planned to leave his seat, but figuring he had a chance with the newcomer, he ambled up and sat next to her. He turned on the charm, and was playing the part of a decent, if not slightly inebriated man. Things were going well until the need for a bathroom grew too large to ignore. He excused himself and left the bar.

On the way back, he heard people discussing a great treasure. Before he sat down a hooded figure said in a slightly louder whisper that it was said that the treasure would allow the finder to not have to hide and could walk about as their true self.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

Dresden sat down next to the woman and resumed their conversation. At one point or another, he made an advance that she didn't take kindly to, and slapped him in the face. He was shocked at how much it hurt. When she wasn't paying attention, he rubbed his jaw.

Figuring that not much else would be happening, he paid and went to find his cart. He stumbled out and passed out as soon as he sat down. He gained consciousness as unsavory characters were helping themselves to his possessions.

He pretended to stay passed out until they all left, laughing about how easy it was and too bad he was dead, or they might have had to do something drastic. He may not have been sober, but he was in control enough to change into a wolf. He stalked them until they rested to split up their loot. He took the first one out without a problem. Taking out the other two was more of a challenge. He finally finished them off with only a few scratches and light stab wounds.

He walked back to the cart to see that the ox had broken free and wandered off. So now with him mad and slightly injured, he gathered his stuff into a bag and stomped off headed out of town.

He wandered in no particular direction, until dark. He had arrived at the river where he thought he saw a campfire. He crashed through the bushes and got told to sit by the fire by Endermon. She patched him up as they discussed the treasure. He kept trying to not so subtly get with her, but she wasn't picking up on it.

When she was done she showed him a place where he could lay down, and gave him a blanket. He tried once again to suggest a tryst, but he was too exhausted from his fight to stay awake. He fell asleep certain that he would be able to find a fail proof way to get her to sleep with him. He was snoring within a few minutes, and was sound asleep til mid-morning.
