Chapter 7.1

Endetmon said she'd fill her in on the specifics later. Shiloh nodded and looking at the food, stood up and said she'd be back in a flash. Endermon said okay, and watched as Shiloh sped out of sight. Endermon hoped it was not to cause trouble with the mermaids.

Shiloh was back a few moments later. Her clothes were a bit damp. She looked like she'd been in a minor struggle. Inclining her head, she nodded to a space away from the fire. Endermon went with her.

As Shiloh straightened her clothes, she told Endermon how she went to the tavern to see what it was like. But before she could get there she heard a shout and a splash. She went into the water to see if she could help, but the poor soul was already gone.

Endermon said it explained the damp clothes, but what about the wrinkled and disheveled bit. Shiloh said someone had come by and thought she was responsible for the crime. So they attacked but was easily overpowered. Shiloh shrugged and said she needed to eat, so she convinced the instigator to go elsewhere and carefully got the recently deceased, and well, you know.

Endermon nodded and said they should probably get back to the fire to dry out her clothes a bit before she had to rest for the day. Shiloh kissed her before they headed back. Not that either of the other two noticed they were even gone.

They were arguing about the tradesman back at the house. Shiloh's eyebrows shot up and asked what she missed. Rutus and Dresden started talking over each other and Endermon rubbed her temples. She looked to Shiloh for assistance. Shiloh closed her eyes and soon Dresden was telling Endermon that she should say what happened.

Endermon said they went to town to sell or barter the stuff they did or didn't need for the journey. She only told the parts she knew, and although it was embarrassing, told Shiloh about the bevy of adoring fans. Shiloh laughed. She then told about the out of work tradesman who they hired to look after the place and fix things if he wished.

Dresden tried to interject, but a sharp look from Endermon stopped him. She said she made dinner for them all and Dresden brought out some liquor. Shiloh laughed at Dresden's sulking impression by Endermon. And then Endermon said that Rutus and the man seemed to hit it off really well.

Rutus's bright red face at that comment, made them sell snicker. She told them to shut up, but it was all in fun. Endermon said that Shiloh showed up a few minutes after that, and that was that. Only Shiloh saw the gleam in Endermon's eyes.

Soon after that, they all went to bed. Well once Endermon was certain the other two were asleep, she decided against the cot and snuggled up to Shiloh. Endermon soon drifted off to sleep. Shiloh lay there until dawn. Easily lifting Endermon into her cot and covering her up, she stole away to her carriage to avoid the day.

In the morning they got up and stamped out the coals, had some more dried foods, armored, and saddled up after putting away the sleeping equipment. Dresden complained that the small cart was slowing down his horse. His horse in retaliation, tried to bite him. Dresden shut up about the cart.

They set off on the coastal road, continuing north to the desert region. Following the map, they avoided the pitfalls and setbacks most travelers would otherwise encounter. And when they needed things, they seemed suspiciously easy to obtain.

They were at a roadside market getting some food when they started asking if anyone knew of any treasure, they got blank stares, or flat out didn't know. So they stopped asking. They had just reached yhe end of the coastal area, and the beginning of the desert area, when they stopped for the evening. They got camp set up again and this time only used the fire for light instead of warmth, as it had become substantially warmer as of late.

Dresden was getting restless so he became a hawk and flew about. Soon though, he found some prey and darted down to snatch it. Secure in his talons. The poor animal succumbed to its fate and became a stew. Well once Dresden returned to the ground.
