As dawn turned to morning, Rutus got up first. Endermon gave Rutus a cup of coffee and a plate of food. Rutus asked why Endermon was up, and why wasn't her girlfriend there. Endermon blushed and even though no one could hear them, pulled Rutus closer.
She told Rutus that Shiloh was a vampire and that's why they never saw her in the daytime. Rutus nodded and went back to her coffee. Endermon wanted to tease Rutus a little bit and asked how her night with Dresden went. Rutus nearly choked on her coffee, but said it went fine. It went fine a couple times, actually.
Endermon asked if she thought Dresden would remember and Rutus laughed and said he'd probably come onto a cactus if the wind moved it just right. They laughed and continued their breakfast. They left a plate and some coffee for Dresden and began cleaning up the campsite.
They were nearly done when Dresden finally woke up. He scarfed down both the breakfast and the coffee. He didn't say much as the rest was put away and the armor went on. They rode in silence. Mainly because Dresden was still a little hungover and also Endermon was searching the rock formations for signs of anything.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a cactus that looked suspicious. It was too green and too smooth. They stopped to look at the cactus when Rutus noticed there was a pile of rocks near the base. Not being able to help herself, Endermon acted like she couldn't lift any and loudly 'complained'.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Rutus wanted in on it and said she doubted Dresden could lift one either, not in his state anyway. Not wanting to appear weak, Dresden made short work pf the rocks and uncovered a door in the sand. They opened it and stared into the hole.
There was a ladder going down and Endermon prepared a torch. As she went down the ladder, Rutus came down after her, and Dresden took up the rear. As they looked around the hole with the help of the torch and the square of sunlight, they noticed slashes in the walls. Apparently there had been a fight that happened. They went to the farthest wall and saw another pedestal with the same runes as last time. Once again there was a space where a treasure used to be.
In frustration, Dresden punched a wall. There was a moment of silence as they took all this in. Endermon inspected the pedestal and saw there was a layer of red powder coating everything except the square where the treasure used to be.
She ran her fingers through it and a small trail of wildflowers poked up where her fingers just were. Rutus bumped into the pedestal and when she rubbed her side, sparks started coming off her hands. Dresden by this point is pacing like a caged animal, angry at the world.
Grabbing Dredsen by the arm, Endermon started leading him to the ladder. Endermon wished she could take the powder but with no treasure, there was no reason to stay. When they got up the ladder they closed the door and left the rocks. It wasn't like anyone could take anything. But when they looked back, the rocks were back in place.
