Chapter 57: The Lost Ones

Chapter 57: The Lost Ones

Angela is an angel, the only one born in the sacred light in centuries.

Before God left, at the dawn of time when giants ruled the world, angels were born in the sacred light, endowed with wisdom and spirit by the Lord himself. They were strong and smart, with the power to battle giants!

After God departed from heaven, no more angels were born from the sacred light. Some say it's because God fell, but those who spoke this were put to the stake! Now, angels are chosen from devout believers or directly created by the god of light, Iyeta.

Angela despises those manufactured angels because their minds are consumed by only one thought—holy war!

The extinction of races and succession of gods are historical inevitabilities, like the Primordial Giants who replaced the Saturn giants, and a world ruled by giants was redeemed by God. The faith of humans and other species has always shifted with the struggle between gods.

Angela revealed her name to Felix but withheld her full title, Guidance of the Sacred Light—Angela Lucifer!

At Heaven's Gate, where the Lord descended, lies the origin of sacred light power, the birthplace of angels with names who could defeat the Primordial Giant!

This place, known as The Sacred Light’s Source, birthed many names sung by people—Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, Uriel…

And of course, one forbidden, spurned, and cursed name—Lucifer!

Endowed with strength and wisdom by the Lord but refusing to bow, the first angel to betray the sacred light, the proudest in the cosmos, was pride from the soul's depths, not hollow hearts—true pride!

On the day Angela was born, Heaven's Gate was shrouded in dark clouds, with raging thunder and surging dark forces that surprised and scared all the angels.

She was born in the deepest part of The Sacred Light’s Source, a place shunned and cursed by the sacred light for birthing the great archangel—Lucifer!

The god of light ordered her newly formed soul to be killed, but a burning greatsword ablaze with hellfire stopped it.

A proud man, enveloped in light and flame, stood by her side!

This man, called Lucifer, known as Pride as the Original Sin, came from hell to be by her side, gently stroking her hair, and spoke in the gentlest voice, "You and I are from the same source, you are my daughter…

"You were meant to be granted power and wisdom by the Lord, but He has fallen into slumber…

"I, Lucifer, in the name of the archangel, bless you with power from the source, my daughter!"

And that's where the story ends, with her ostensibly cool dad, the man too proud to kneel before God, leaving her side.

She was accepted by the angels and known as Guidance of the Sacred Light—Angela. Iyeta placed her in a remote palace, and her neighbor was a very famous little rascal, also an angel—Cupid.

Being an angel is an incredibly dull affair, consisting mostly of singing praises to the Lord, merging with the sacred light, and performing tedious ceremonies. The rest of the time, there's nothing to do but sleep. Take Angela's neighbor, for instance, that very, very famous little rascal—Cupid, the God of Love.

In truth, everyone knows he possesses the magic to make people fall in love, yet few realize he rarely uses this power, maybe not even once in centuries. Love among mortals often arises under the influence of law or so-called fate, not the God of Love's arrows, who may not leave his palace for decades.

Angela knows that this stingy and vengeful God of Love only used his bow once in recent centuries, out of spite towards a wise angel who cursed him behind his back. He shot a golden arrow at that wise angel, then another at a strong angel, and then—they fell in love...

Yes, they fell in love...

That incident amused Angela for a long time, a pleasant diversion for her nearly insane boredom and loneliness.

During her days in Heaven, she envied the wise angels and wandering spirits. The former could sneak out during divine decrees, while the latter traveled across realms freely, despite their unfortunate looks. Their ability to cross dimensional barriers was the envy of all.

During an exceedingly boring period, Angela spent her days at Heaven’s Gate, watching souls of the righteous from various planes arrive.

Ah, the views in Heaven are nice—that, Angela is sure of. She loves to nap on a lotus in the midday, covered by clouds, soft and warm, often sleeping away the whole day.

During those dull days, Angela encountered a very special soul—a woman who chose neither reincarnation nor angelhood, simply wandering near Heaven’s Gate, often muttering incomprehensible, albeit fascinating, phrases.

This wandering spirit seemed to have lost part of her memory and soul, sometimes appearing dim-witted and silent as if with a mental deficiency.

What Angela did most during that time was follow her, listening to her soliloquies, which sparked Angela's curiosity. She broke the heavenly code and secretly accessed the lost soul's memories...

She learned much from the memories of Lisa, who died by a demon wolf's claw, and discovered a world she had never experienced before, along with a peculiar term—"transmigrator."

The cost, however, was clear.

Already a bit neurotic, Angela became even more so. But she relished this new sensation, especially the term 'old lady,' as it gave her a thrilling delusion of grandeur when she said it.

It seems this world often sees transmigrators, though few survive. Their souls don't reenter the cycle of rebirth but instead wander across planes, their memories fading.

Some are called the lost, while others name themselves the forgotten...
