Chapter 1: The Forgotten

Chapter 1: The Forgotten

According to ancient pacts, the dead seeking rebirth must surrender their memories as a price. However, their most precious memory fragments remain, etched deep in their souls, offering them a chance to rediscover themselves.

During the resurrection period, the dead experience their most frenzied phase, tormented by the indelible, shattered memories lingering in the depths of their souls, until they either find themselves again or forget completely…

In this world, there are wanderers between planes, having forgotten their pasts, yet harboring unforgettable images deep within their souls. They wander all their lives, searching for lost memories.

They call themselves The Forgotten.

The world of Delrano is a barren, sweltering yet tranquil and peaceful place. It is the homeland of orcs and the origin of ancient shamanic teachings, where orcs worship the doctrines from before the time of giants, venerating nature and cherishing peace.

Long ago, in the era when giants roamed the cosmos, an ancient elven tribe migrated to this primitive world. They brought a seed, a seed of the World Tree, which blossomed into beautiful flowers, bringing life and greenery to the fiery red land.

The ancient elves nurtured the parched earth with water from the Lunawell, allowing the Tree of Life to root deeply and transform the raging flame elements into surging life force, revitalizing Delrano.

The Tree of Life transformed Delrano, infusing the barren world with vitality and greenery.

The orcs, adhering to ancient shamanic teachings, coexisted peacefully with the nature-worshipping ancient elves. Although their interactions were limited, they jointly transformed this world of heat and flame.

Time flowed on.

Eventually, a new belief emerged and stabilized, blending ancient shamanic doctrines with reverence for the nature deity, swiftly spreading across the world.

Thus, in this ancient world, the Goddess of Life was born!

The Tree of Life changed this ancient world, bringing life and vigor to the barren land. The orcs were grateful to the ancient elves for the World Tree. As time passed and the world became more beautiful, the Tree of Life gradually replaced the Ancestor Spirits, becoming the primary faith of the world's natives.

The teachings of the Goddess of Life spread across the land, urging people to cherish the present and the hard-won beauty of life.

"Embrace nature; it nurtures us, provides everything we need for survival, and also endows us with the power to protect ourselves!"

Ten thousand years, twenty thousand years…

Humans appeared, followed by dwarves, centaurs, myrmidons, goblins… More and more races migrated to this vibrant world!

Demons from the abyss also noticed this lively land hidden in the corners of the planes...

War erupted in this peaceful world but ended quickly. The orcs, with their strong elemental powers from ancient shamanic teachings, and the ancient elves, natural-born magicians, repelled the demons back into the abyss.

“My Lord comes from the holy light, bringing eternity.”

At some point, a deity descended. My Lord brought a new faith and power struggles, inevitably engulfing this ancient land. A new faith was born, and holy light shone upon the world, granting humans strength and glory.

One thousand years, two thousand years... The giants' figures were no longer seen in the skies.

The race born from chaos seemed to have gradually faded with time.

Under My Lord's blessing, humanity thrived and entered a golden age. Under My Lord's protection, humans spread across this ancient land and, in just a few thousand years, became a race capable of contending with orcs and ancient elves.

As the years passed...

With My Lord falling into slumber, conflicts gradually ceased. Followers of My Lord and worshippers of the Goddess of Life coexisted peacefully, guiding this ancient world towards a better future.

Fast forward about a thousand years from now.

Demons reappeared, more ferocious than ever, drawn not only by the abyss's gaze but also by the terrifying devils from hell, attracted to this increasingly prosperous world.

Some lesser deities from different planes descended here, attempting to make this place a focal point for their faith.

Chaos began to envelop this ancient land.

In that year, with the arrival of spring, Delrano welcomed a visitor from a distant plane.

He was one of The Forgotten.

Snowdrift Hollow is a tranquil little town located in the southeastern part of the continent. To the east, it borders Mistwood Forest, and to the south, it's near Devil’s Cliff.

When it snows in Snowdrift Hollow, snowflakes fill the sky, accompanied by a unique fragrance that can be sensed from miles away. This spectacle is one of the continent's unique attractions, drawing travelers and rangers from all over to witness it.

Mistwood Forest is the territory of the wood elves, a branch of the ancient elves. They welcome only the followers of the Goddess of Life and are not hospitable to other intelligent beings.

Legend has it that Mistwood Forest was originally a desert, transformed into its current lush state by the wood elves who planted seeds from the Tree of Life.

The wood elves now serve the second Tree of Life, referred to by the elves as "Anya."

Devil’s Cliff is one of the points where demons from the abyss descend. For thousands of years, numerous demons from the abyss have arrived here.

Even though it has been sealed by followers of the holy light, some lesser demons still lurk in Devil’s Cliff. It is a no-go zone for life, a place where even the greediest adventurers would not venture in search of riches.

Snowdrift Hollow doesn’t have many specialties and doesn’t teem with various magical beasts like other places.

The only point of adventure, Devil’s Cliff, is a forbidden zone for the living. In fact, aside from some passing adventurers, Snowdrift Hollow only attracts adventurers and rangers who come every three years to see the snowy scenery.

The original inhabitants of Snowdrift Hollow are a group of half-elves. They are not acknowledged by the wood elves but still live under the blessing of their shared bloodline.

As Snowdrift Hollow's reputation for its snow and fragrance has spread, it has gradually attracted other races, especially rangers who decided to settle in this peaceful land.

It's a small town, but it's home to over a dozen intelligent species, a unique sight in Snowdrift Hollow.

Recently, Snowdrift Hollow welcomed another guest, a human with long, silvery-white hair, azure blue eyes, and a handsome face that even elves would admire.

The daughter of the Snowcharm Inn’s owner, a ditsy little girl, found him in Mistwood Forest. He had a deep sword wound on his chest, yet astonishingly, he was still alive!

No one knew where he came from or if he was even human. But judging by his attire and the slightly magical vine staff, he seemed to be a mage from the legends.

In the world of Delrano, the power of totems resides with orc shamans, the force of nature with ancient elf elders, and the holy light can only be wielded by followers of My Lord. Apart from those fallen warlocks who serve demons, human spellcasters are exceedingly rare!

The most widespread power in this world is battle power, a simple elemental force derived from orc sword saints and gradually spread across the continent.

A few simple syllables trigger the magical elements in the air, greatly increasing the survival rate of lower-level adventurers. This makes the adventure industry in Delrano even more thriving than in the Prime Material plane.

Now, the talk of Snowdrift Hollow is about the white-haired amnesiac mage found by the ditsy little girl.

The owner of Snowcharm Inn is a charming wood elf, once a skilled archer and a revered wood elf priestess. Ten years ago, she and her daughter, the little ditsy girl named Nayara Anya, opened the Snowcharm Inn.

The gossip became even more sensational on the third day because the forgetful white-haired mage was roped into labor by the money-loving innkeeper!

Having a mage as a bartender turned the Snowcharm Inn into an overnight sensation.

Suddenly, the Snowcharm Inn became the envy of many. That year, Snowdrift Hollow was much livelier than usual.
