Chapter 56: The Reversal of Elements

Chapter 56: The Reversal of Elements

The Guardian Covenant is divided into unidirectional and bidirectional types, and unfortunately, Felix was bound by a bidirectional Guardian Covenant.

When Angela shouted the words 'Guardian Covenant,' it was as if she had initiated the covenant summoning ritual. Since it was on the same plane of existence, the summoning didn't even require the construction of a magical web pathway; it immediately brought Felix, who was maintaining The Seal of the Twelve Zodiac Houses, to her side.

Then, the following scene unfolded: Aurelia retracted her force, but her sword still pierced through Felix's shoulder.

...

It was the next morning, and even after receiving Holy Light Magic treatment, Felix's wound had not yet healed. Holy Light Magic is highly effective for healing, but it's not so miraculous as to allow someone to start jumping around immediately after being treated. A wound as serious as Felix's would need at least three days of healing treatment, as the flesh that was cut away can't regenerate overnight.

Felix felt no guilt over the misunderstanding with the beautiful angel. This mysterious, slightly crazy-talking angel seemed more like a time traveler, and it's the less intelligent type.

Felix sat up and glanced at the angel sister who was giggling uncontrollably as she flipped through "The Funeral of the Rose," lying sprawled on the table. To be honest, he somewhat regretted initiating the Descend ceremony.

If Light Ranger Aurelia’s thoughts were unpredictable, then this angel sister, with her exquisitely beautiful face and seemingly jumbled thoughts, was beyond reason!

Sometimes she would be engrossed in her book and then suddenly jump over, cling to Felix's head, pinch here and there before planting a kiss on him, and then lay on top of him, giggling non-stop while saying, “Teehee! You had it coming! Teehee!”

“When someone does wrong, they must pay the price.”

Felix glanced at the angel sister lost in the cheesy knight novels and could only helplessly shake his head. Regret was useless now; all he could hope for was that this inscrutable angel sister would be of help during their upcoming journey to The Burial Ground of Bones.

In the meantime, Felix had been subtly probing the angel sister, trying to figure out where she came from. Unfortunately, all his attempts had failed.

Though this slightly mad angel sister would occasionally spout shocking phrases or come up with strange new words from Earth or somewhere else, she still exuded a strong native aura. The pure postures she inadvertently revealed proved her to be an angel who had traversed long ages.

Regarding how she descended to the primary material plane where Felix resided, he had gleaned a little insight.

The angel sister had a demonically intuitive understanding of spatial magic. She managed to project her soul onto the primary material plane where Felix was, using the "Substitution Refraction" principle from mirror magic, and then relocate herself through teleportation, taking advantage of the spatial rift opened by Felix's Holy Cross Summoning to arrive at this plane.

Crossing space, it is easiest to move parallelly, next is ascending to a higher plane, but returning from a higher to a lower plane is the most difficult. The greater the disparity in planar elemental energy, the stronger the resistance caused by the reverse flow of elements, and such forced descents can result in such extensive energy loss that even deities cannot bear it.

To illustrate with a simple example, in Felix's primary material plane, a magic apprentice with fifteen magic points can cast a "Fireball," meaning he can mobilize a base of ten points of elemental energy.

But in hell, the abyss, or heaven, the same fifteen magic points could produce a "Blaze Bomb," mobilizing more than fifty points of elemental energy! This involves the concept known as Elemental Tide Movement.

In short, a deity with 100,000 magic points in a higher plane can merge their magic with over a million points of elemental energy in what's called Elemental Transformation.

However, if they were to descend to a lower plane, those 100,000 magic points could only move less than 100,000 points of elemental energy in the lower plane. The 100,000 points of energy stored in their body would be sapped by 90,000 due to the elemental reverse flow.

If that deity were to return alive to the higher plane, it would take a long time to replenish the 90,000 points of energy absorbed by the reverse flow.

For Felix, currently at the early stages of the Silver Domain, throwing him into heaven would at least allow him to exert the strength of the Golden Dominion. After completing the Golden Dominion's elemental transformation in heaven and throwing him back, any additional elemental energy he gained would be absorbed by the elemental reverse flow difference. Upon returning to heaven, Felix would have to start all over again.

This is a rather complex calculation formula; if you understand it, congratulations, you might have the talent to become a magician! What you need now is the patience to wait for the crossing.

...

Felix was certain that the beautiful angel sister before him must know something about the secrets of "space," even if she hasn't mastered them. "Reverse Ascension" is the most difficult mode of spatial crossing, and even deities might not find it as effortless as she does. There must be some kind of loophole, a loophole in planar travel!

However, how to get this information from her had become Felix's dilemma. He couldn't be sure if the angel sister was a traveler from another world. There are over fifteen types of magic in this world that can read memories, and the souls of travelers bear special marks. From the notes of the mysterious Gamma master, Felix saw some very intriguing records.

Two possibilities.

Either the angel sister is a traveler who has forgotten parts of her past, hence her adoption of some local thought patterns amidst her bizarre ideas—when serious, she indeed has the grace of an angel.

The second possibility is that she has read the memory of a traveler, which caused her current disjointed speech and scattered thought pattern. This could explain why she seems like a traveler but not quite one.

If the above assumptions hold, then they both concern another traveler from Earth.

Felix fully integrated into the native world because he was a soul reborn and, more importantly, because he embraced the teachings of Fairmuth. Without the support of great power, he had to change his habits and blend into this native world.

If he had possessed great power from the beginning, he would have been at odds with this world, much like the sometimes-mad angel sister...

"Feeling dizzy...

"These questions might be left for future pondering. The current priority is how to minimize the danger of The Burial Ground of Bones."

"Just hearing the awesome name 'The Left Hand of God' tells you this must be at least a demigod-level artifact. Artifacts usually mean danger, meaning powerful creatures guard them."

Felix looked up at the angel sister absorbed in the trashy knight novels, then glanced at the pure nun serving by his side, both exchanging silent glances...
