Chapter 16: Fire Poison

Chapter 16: Fire Poison

The Frost Power around Felix had become so dense it was almost tangible, with ice crystals forming within a fifty-meter radius and a layer of white frost covering the grass and branches. However, there was an anomaly in this icy domain.

The bright red fruits, even though the tree that bore them was encased in ice, seemed untouched by the Frost Power. It was as if an invisible elemental energy shielded them, preventing even a speck of frost from settling on them.

Exotic Flora!

Felix was now certain that these bright red fruits were the rare and legendary Exotic Flora. Among the wonders of the world, the most sought-after by various intelligent beings was the Life Spring nurtured by the Tree of Life of the Elves, known for enhancing magic power and significantly prolonging life. All beings desiring a longer life yearned for it.

Another rarity was the water from the Lunawell built by the Elves, capable of healing any form of injury. It was the Lunawell water that had largely contributed to Felix's survival.

While naturally grown Exotic Flora might not be as potent as these two, their effects were still significant. The birth of such flora often involved secretive opportunities. For instance, Dragon Tongue grass, known for its potent healing properties but also its intense fire poison, might grow where dragon blood fell.

Additionally, there were records of a unique plant called the Dragon Tree possibly sprouting where dragons perished. Its fruit, blooming and bearing every ten years, could enhance the strength of various intelligent beings, potentially evolving them into dragon-like beings if consumed in large quantities.

However, Exotic Flora, despite often enhancing elemental powers, typically carried intense toxicity.

Felix, although unsure of the exact nature of these fruits, sensed their uniqueness. Without hesitation, he leaped onto the tree and used a large leaf to gather the few fruits it bore – eleven in total, including two that were still pale red and not fully ripe.

After harvesting these peculiar fruits, Felix swiftly left, as maintaining the icy environment was taxing. He didn't want to confront the magical frog once it awoke from its enforced hibernation. He preferred avoiding trouble and didn't want to harm the rare creature.

As Felix stopped the output of Frost Power, the ice and snow around him slowly began to melt. The magical frog, too, gradually awoke from its slumber.

Minutes later, behind him, the sounds of animals in distress indicated that the magical frog had awakened and was probably enraged. But Felix wasn't concerned; he had created enough distance. Even if the frog had the ability to track scents, it likely couldn't catch up.

Moreover, intelligent magical beasts rarely left their territories, as they strongly valued their domains and entering another's territory could be seen as a provocation.

Even in anger, the magical frog might not dare to chase Felix.

In such a primitive forest, where human activity was scarce, there were no paths. Felix's journey involved cutting through thickets unless he remained in his energized state and leaped from tree to tree. It was early spring, and the foliage wasn't too dense. Had it been summer or autumn, the journey would have been tougher with waist-high weeds.

After navigating through dense bushes, Felix finally found a river – a larger stream, likely a tributary flowing into a lake below. Following this stream should lead him to his destination.

After drinking a handful of the clear river water and washing his face, Felix continued along the stream, carefully listening for any disturbances in the jungle.

He took out one of the harvested fruits – bright red, with a faint, unique fishy scent, somewhat reminiscent of blood.

Holding the strange fruit, Felix felt an impulsive urge to eat it. Barely hesitating, he followed this instinct, hoping it might help recover his lost memories. He bit into the fruit, finding no seeds, just flesh. The outer skin was crimson, but the flesh inside was a bizarre dark red, tasting spicy and intensely fishy.

Frowning, Felix eventually swallowed the whole fruit.

Once ingested, the fruit transformed into a hot elemental energy in Felix's stomach. This energy from the fruit began to merge with the Frost Power in his blood.

Suddenly, a few words flashed through his mind: "Red Dragon Fruit, Fire Poison."
