Chapter 2: The Return of the King

Chapter 2: The Return of the King

From the moment Princess Helen stepped into this forbidden territory, her delicate features seemed to be encased in a millennia-old ice. She moved slowly, with each step almost identical in distance.

The Silver Hand, with his head bowed, silently followed behind her. Although his face was solemn and equally expressionless, there was a sense of relief evident in his demeanor.

The Emperor's final order was to bring back Princess Helen and present her to him.

Unfortunately, Princess Helen had no intention of meeting her brother, a brother who had slaughtered his own. The Silver Hand, unable to forcibly bring the noble princess, also lacked the strength to do so.

Only today did Princess Helen agree to meet her brother, the once mighty emperor who could turn the tides of the continent at will! And only at this moment did The Silver Hand feel a sense of relief.

"You've come... my sister," a hoarse voice emanated from the elder sitting at the center of the altar. The ghostly flames at the four corners of the altar began to dance wildly, and shadowy figures wielding scythes of death lingered around the altar. Yet, no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't step onto the altar.

"I thought I would never see you," Emperor Jupiter lifted his head, revealing a face shriveled and devoid of moisture, clinging tightly to his skull, resembling a long-desiccated corpse.

From the moment he spoke, the Lost Enchanters’ sword in Emperor Jupiter's grip began to tremble slightly, emitting sharp, piercing whines as if alive!

Princess Helen slowly ascended the altar, while The Silver Hand knelt on one knee below. No matter how many years had passed, the elder before him was still the Son of God’s Might in his memory, a king capable of unifying the world!

"I know you still hate me," Emperor Jupiter opened his eyes. His flesh-dried hands clenched, and with the trembling of the earth, he slowly drew the Lost Enchanters’ sword.

He placed the sword, which had brought both glory and disaster to the Titans, in front of Princess Helen. The once-glorious king slowly closed his dry eyes and solemnly said, "Take it, and pierce my heart."

Princess Helen's calm demeanor finally collapsed. She gazed at the elder sitting at the center of the altar with complex eyes, the King of the Titan Empire, her brother.

"Why! Why did you kill him? Why? Why did you strangle your own brother with your hands?!"

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Her pale hands tightly grasped the Lost Enchanters’ sword, but a crystal-clear tear slid down Princess Helen's cheek, looking at the “living dead” before her with a somewhat hysterical expression.

Before coming here, she hated him so much, so very much. But upon truly seeing him, seeing him become an undead wraith waiting for her return, her heart ached intensely.

She had two brothers in the world who loved her most. She once thought she was the happiest person in the world.

But everything shattered quickly, the man before her, her brother, the Emperor of the Titans, strangled his own brother.

Emperor Jupiter's gaze fell on the Lost Enchanters’ sword. He bowed his head, muttering to himself, "I've become increasingly reliant on its power, its power that drove me to madness... for redemption..."

"No! No, I can't do it," Princess Helen, her face streaked with tears, shook her head and whispered softly.

But at that moment, Emperor Jupiter's withered body suddenly lunged forward, the Lost Enchanters’ sword trembling as if sentient, and impaled his heart!

The four ghostly flames on the altar began to extinguish one by one, and the deathly minions blocked around the altar howled and rushed forward!

Ethereal sounds of hooves echoed, as a knight riding a chariot pulled by four pure black nightmares appeared in the sky. He drove the chariot down from the heavens, fiercely whipping the air as he reached above the altar!

The four deathly minions extracted Emperor Jupiter's soul from his withered body and, with a bewildered expression, flew him into the chariot.

The knight, steering the chariot towards the sky, and the bewildered Emperor Jupiter, finally regained a trace of consciousness. He looked down at Princess Helen on the altar and let out a heavy sigh.

As the nightmares neighed, a pure black gate emerged in the sky. The knight, wielding his whip, led the now lucid Emperor Jupiter into it.

Only noble and powerful souls are graced with the presence of the nightmare knight!

The Silver Hand glanced at Princess Helen, who appeared disheartened in the center of the altar. He slowly stood up, his demeanor solemn and dignified.

Drawing the Crusher sword from his waist, he followed the scar on his face, once again slicing open his skin!

Twenty years ago, in that era of upheaval, a group of knights, committed to their death, ventured deep into the heart of the Saturn Empire.

This act was a tribute to the souls of their fallen brothers in arms, who had perished in enemy territory.

Shadows emerged beneath the altar, where figures knelt on one knee, slicing off their left little fingers with daggers that glittered coldly.

In the distance, the dull tolling of bells echoed across the skies of the imperial city. As these somber bell tolls spread throughout the entire capital, everything eerily fell silent.

Pedestrians halted in their tracks, merchants ceased their hawking, even the usually bustling slave markets became deathly quiet. Almost simultaneously, countless people in the capital kneeled on one knee, facing the direction of the palace.

No matter how absurd and tyrannical Emperor Jupiter became later, he was always the one who had once heroically saved the Titan Empire from dire straits. He led three thousand cavalry deep into the enemy's heartland and commanded an army of a hundred thousand to the gates of Saturn's royal city, earning the title Son of God’s Might.

It was because of him that the Titan Empire could suppress the Saturn Empire for a full twenty years!

The ruler who had reigned over this land for twenty years finally reached the end of his life.

So, who would be his successor?
