Chapter 51: The Forgotten's Memory

Chapter 51: The Forgotten's Memory

I am one who has been forgotten, having lost all memories of my own.

Time has forgotten me as well as buried me; my past is lost to me, and the distant future, unseen. Though I wield the power to gaze straight into the heavens, my heart, my soul, still finds itself entwined in solitude.

In the deep silence of the night, I look up to the starry sky, touching my own icy face with my fingers, the grating sound of metal on metal stirs something within me, a hint of recollection, yet shrouded in fog deep within the recesses of my memory...

I have forgotten who I am, and where I come from...

Who took my memories?

A forgotten one needs a name, so I call myself Nameless. In the haziness, I vaguely remember once being a swordsmith...

...

Long, long ago...

When I awoke in that icy tomb, confusion and fear took hold of me, despite my ignorance.

I began to wander, to learn, and to search for the memories that had slipped away...

I seemed powerful, for I killed a green dragon on the brink of adulthood, one with an eight-century lifespan, with nothing but my fists, unaided by the mysterious magic spells within my mind.

I saved a woman, she said her name was Christie.

Christie was an exceedingly beautiful woman, the first creature of flesh and blood to introduce me to beauty.

People liked to call her the Queen of Shadows, for she claimed to be a practitioner of the evil Gamma arts.

I spent a century by her side, and together we opened the barriers between spaces, traveling to parallel spiritual and elemental planes. Sadly, I gained nothing about my forgotten memories, while she grew much stronger.

The dark power seemed to tarnish her soul as she began to covet the mysterious runes on my body, my power...

I eventually chose to leave and returned to where I had awoken, but to my disappointment, found nothing but the cold, hard exotic metal and some incomprehensible symbols. I gained nothing.

I laid down in the icy tomb once more, choosing to sleep.

………………………………

When I woke again, it was after a very long time, and to my sorrow, I found I had forgotten something once more.

I only remembered my name, and a woman named Christie.

After much contemplation, I concluded that I had lost the memories of that woman and the many mysterious spells...

I had lost my power...

On a new journey, I met a young man named Aristotle Titans, learning that Christie had become a deity, possessing power far greater than I had known. She had ventured alone into

Hell and defeated one of its rulers—Asmontis!

I began to study Gamma Magic, finding clues within it to regain my strength. Christie had changed Gamma Magic, incorporating spells from my body into the new Gamma arts.

In this new version of Gamma Magic, I discovered a fascinating spell—"Soul Transference."

The soul, that is the domain of deities.

Endless time keeps flowing...

After completing my study of Gamma Magic, I went to the elemental plane, made an agreement with the "Elemental Lords," and signed a pact. Not wanting others to see the runes on my body, I created a 'skin' for myself using Dead Sea Sand.

Upon returning, I met two intriguing women, one named Ireland, who belonged to a "Dark Species," a vampire of enduring life. I was curious why such a creature of darkness possessed such powerful holy light. Fearing another slumber, I was relieved to find new pursuits.

I captured a succubus, a fresh adult that fed on essence, and lured an angel with holy light, a powerful celestial being. My experiment to create an interesting creature, unfortunately, ended in failure...

Later, I encountered another Forgotten One, but alas, it was his shattered soul I found. This metal-bodied Forgotten One had perished in a battle on another plane, his soul splintered by an overwhelmingly potent force...

Gods, laws, boxes... The gods are but stewards under the law. I wondered about the "laws" the fragmented soul had spoken of. I decided to venture into hell, for I required divinity for my next phase of research.

Before my descent into hell, I met a peculiar little fellow. I could sense that he, like me, did not belong to this world. He was weak but interesting because I read his memories. Although only fragments, it was enough to pique my curiosity. A terrifying force within his memories kept prying eyes at bay, a mental strength so formidable that even I could not contend with it, nor could the gods...

I could feel that this was the power of the "laws" spoken of by the fragmented soul... My body harbors secrets, as does the little one's soul. What an interesting discovery.

It seems I will never age, blessed with endless life. I've lost my memories over the long stretch of time, only to seek them out bit by bit again.

I need a beginning or an end; no force in this plane can kill me. I hope the powerful devils of hell can assist me, provide me with answers. The mysteries of time hidden in my body, I wonder if this is what spellcasters have been searching for—"The True Eternity."

The lad named Felix is physically fragile, but his soul is mighty—stronger than mine, mightier than the gods... Under the power of "laws," his soul conceals the secrets of "space."

About "laws"? About another universe? I resolve to seek the answers.

In return, I have chosen him as my heir, leaving him a substantial 'inheritance' and preparing some 'secrets' he will need in the basement, all for him to discover on his own...

Every time I see the lad named Felix, I sense an almost illusionary intuition, something even The Great Prophecy Tome couldn't provide me with answers to.

Could it be that he and I hail from the same place? Is he a past version of me? Am I a future him?

With the power to traverse "space," subject to "laws," I believe all gains come at a cost.

He may well provide me with an answer...
