Chapter 18: The Dark Knight

Chapter 18: The Dark Knight

Deathbell Town was as silent as death itself. Felix couldn't hear a single sound, not even the chirping of insects.

The town's gate had a corroded gap, bearing signs of a powerful impact. Iron bars as thick as arms eerily bent on the gate suggested a brutal force had once struck it!

It was evident that the townspeople had put up a fierce resistance. Dark red bloodstains and marks of swords and knives were everywhere. Felix took a few steps forward, picked up a piece of dried blood, and sniffed it. The scent of pestilence mixed in the blood made him furrow his brows.

"There's not a single corpse in the town." This was because Felix, in an almost rogue-like manner, had borrowed her "Bible - Old Testament." The middle-aged nun's attitude towards him had grown even colder. She had surveyed the town and then coldly stated.

Felix didn't speak. He seemed to sense something and quickly ran towards the Deathbell Town church!

The middle-aged nun's icy face showed a hint of confusion, but she didn't ask anything and quickly followed.

As Felix stepped into the Deathbell Town church, he suddenly felt a chill throughout his body, as if he had suddenly fallen into ice, shivering violently! He barely stepped in with one foot when he suddenly retreated, quickly pulling out an iron dagger and instinctively throwing it towards a dark corner of the courtyard!

A huge black shadow suddenly lunged at Felix. It had a pair of gloomy green pupils, and from its foul-smelling mouth came an unpleasant howl. Its charge was fierce, almost bringing a whistling wind!

The thrown iron dagger hit its head, but the huge shadow seemed not to feel any pain. It leaped on its forelimbs and continued to pounce at Felix without slowing down.

However, at this moment, what greeted it was a heavy iron rod, weighing over a dozen pounds and as thick as an adult's thigh! The ogre battle servant, following Felix's command, roared and swung the huge iron rod with a whistling sound towards the huge shadow!

"Bang."

A dull, loud noise! The huge shadow was sent flying back even faster than it had come!

The ogre battle servant's explosive strike was so powerful that even a tough-scaled drake might not withstand it, let alone a small behemoth.

Felix wiped off the splattered dirty blood from his body, turned his head to look at the middle-aged nun who had caught up, and then walked into the Deathbell Town church.

Entering the yard, Felix finally saw clearly what the huge black shadow was. It was a black wolf-dog, as big as a young calf! This huge wolf-dog had obviously mutated due to the corruption of the plague, turning into a kind of undead creature!

But now it was completely dead. The ogre battle servant's terrifying strike had completely smashed its head, even driving its huge skull into its stomach! The latter half of its body was pinned to the wall by the huge impact, looking like a grotesque cylinder.

Felix took out a crystal bottle. Then he pulled out his dagger, cut a piece of flesh from the zombie giant dog, and collected half a bottle of dark red blood from the wound. After doing all this, he put the crystal bottle back into the blue crystal and turned to walk into the main church.

Gamma teachers have a good tradition of collecting any experimental materials of value. For Felix, the flesh and blood of this mutated semi-undead species should have some experimental value.

Entering the main church, everyone was shocked by what they saw!

In the center of the church, a corpse was hung on the cross, its head chopped off. Below the body, a starburst array covering the entire church was drawn with blood!

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

In the middle of the array were piles of bones. Felix looked at them and said with a grim face, "These are horse bones."

"They summoned a dark knight!" Felix's face was terribly somber. He turned and walked out of the church, passing by the middle-aged nun, he said in a deep voice, "We must put aside our guards and cooperate sincerely!"

"In this holy place, a dark knight summoned with impure blood is at least an undead lord-level creature! If we don't put aside our guards and cooperate openly, we might all die here."

In the sacrificial ritual to summon undead creatures, there is a most blasphemous method: in a place filled with holy power, to use impure blood for the sacrifice of living beings!

Such a ritual to summon undead creatures results in much stronger beings, possibly even summoning the knights who guard the undead gods' temples!

Upon hearing the name "dark knight," even the middle-aged nun couldn't hide a hint of terror on her face!

These dark knights, who chose to fall into darkness, were no weaker than the true death knights. They harbored dark beliefs and were blessed by the gods of the undead!

The group left Deathbell Town, heading in the direction marked on the parchment. If the information on the parchment was correct, the place where those evil heretics were performing their sacrificial ritual was on that hillside!

Felix soon saw the resurrected undead. However, contrary to his expectations, the power of the necromancers seemed formidable, as half of these zombies had already been transformed into skeletal warriors!

A common misconception needs to be corrected here: the lowest level of undead creatures are not skeletal warriors, but the newly resurrected zombies.

The transformed skeletal warriors are not as useless as commonly believed. Zombies lack the soul fire, but skeletal warriors have been endowed with the seeds of soul fire by necromancers!

Not only do the skeletal warriors possess decent strength, but they also have high agility, and their combat ability is not inferior to soldiers who have undergone some training!

More than three thousand undead creatures gathered on the hillside, nearly half of them transformed into skeletal warriors.

The presence of living beings stirred the resurrected undead, who howled and pounced towards the group.

"The situation seems worse than expected!" Felix couldn't help but show a bitter smile, sensing an ominous premonition. He hadn't seen any flesh and blood on those transformed into skeletal warriors.

"Conserve your strength! Leave this to me..." Felix raised his hand to stop the nun and others from acting, speaking in a deep voice.

Pulling out Mammon’s Redemption, Felix channeled his energy into the staff, plunging it into the ground, and began chanting elemental magic in a deep voice, the incantation of Polar Ice Seal.

"Blow the horn of winter, freeze all living veins,"

Layers of frost appeared under Felix's feet, spreading rapidly forward in a fan shape. The ground began to form ice, creeping up the undead's legs, eroding their entire bodies.

The skeletal warriors at the front slowed down, their leg joints covered in frost, severely affecting their mobility!

Felix gripped Mammon’s Redemption tighter, increasing the output of magical power, and placed his left hand on the ogre battle servant’s arm, shouting, "Activate the runes!"

The ogre battle servant's vacant eyes suddenly burst with light, a blood-red light!

It roared towards the sky, a oppressive force erupting from its body. Its skin visibly turned blood red at an incredible speed, its obese body quickly bulging with strong muscles, veins emerging on its arms like repulsive worms!

Activated with full battle runes and enhanced with bloodlust, the ogre battle servant was like a humanoid beast!

Wielding a huge iron rod like a raging flesh-and-blood tank, it charged into the undead army. The heavy iron rod, weighing several pounds, smashed the ice-bound undead with unstoppable force. With no finesse in combat, the ogre battle servant's attack was monotonous yet terrifying.

A 180-degree horizontal sweep to the left, then to the right! In just a few breaths, the crowded undead army was cleared by the ogre battle servant, spinning the huge iron rod like a windmill!

As if unsatisfied, the ogre battle servant dropped the iron rod, approached a tree as thick as a person's waist, and uprooted the ten-meter-high tree with a roar!

It roared again, its skin turning an even deeper red. Its entire body grew larger in an instant. Holding the root of the tree, it wielded this newfound weapon, smashing it into the undead army like sweeping trash!

Felix distinctly noticed the stunned looks from the women behind him; in fact, he himself was momentarily dazed. He had anticipated the ogre battle servant's physical attack strength, but never imagined it would be this formidable!

He realized his strength test on the ogre battle servant had a flaw; he hadn't tested the terrifying strength of the ogre battle servant enhanced with bloodlust!

As the ogre battle servant was wreaking havoc through the undead army, a rusted chain with a huge hook swung out from the shadowy part of the forest!

Felix's eyes narrowed instantly. He pulled up Mammon’s Redemption and shouted towards the direction of the incoming hook, "Shield of Mist!"

The worst scenario unfolded, as "thunderous" footsteps approached, and three massive figures emerged from the forest.
