CHAPTER 894 ALMOST FALLING DOWN
Rocky was gasping for air as though he had just experienced a moment of life or death. A twinge of
fear was glimmering through his expression in spite of having overcome the situation. And yet most of
the feeling rushing past the adrenaline was the simply boundless relief of having survived.
"Oh god, thank you... Thanks, you saved my life!" He panted heavily as he felt his nerves start to relax
from the strain and the rush. He took a glance at the person who had saved him, even though he
already knew who it would be without having to look up.
It couldn't have been anyone but Alyssa, and there she was.
"That power that you've got hidden inside you... I want to know where it came from. And why is it
so...evil? When I felt it, I felt that malice run through to my bones. It's beyond anything I can truly
understand. This kind of power isn't something humans should ever possess!" Alyssa's questions all
came out in a rush, her voice shaking with shock.
"Look, just don't ask, okay? Please. None of this has anything to do with you. It's better off staying that
way." Rocky's tone was cold and sullen, and he couldn't meet her eyes. There were just some things
he hadn't been prepared to talk about.
At that, Alyssa's eyebrows knitted into a frown. With a harsh exhale, she replied, "I've sealed
that...thing! I sealed it using my skill of our wooden spirit, but I can't really tell you how long that will
last. If I had to guess, I'd say about three days. But if I don't help you seal it back down again, you're
going to be in serious danger. You can't do this on your own, Rocky. Now, I can't help you if you don't
tell me more about what is going on here. And you know what will happen if I can't help. Are you still
going to try and keep me in the dark about all this, knowing all of that? Look... I know this is a terrible
situation especially for you, but please. Please! I'm the only person here who can really help you right
now! I'm not trying to invade your privacy or force you to do this, but we just don't have a choice
anymore. I need to know. If you tell me, we might be able to figure out a better solution on how we can
deal with that thing!"
She meant every word, even as her breath heaved with the passion of her statement. This was all for
Rocky's sake in the end, because he would otherwise be in vast jeopardy. If Rocky would just give her
a little more information to go on with, or at least tell her what kind of evil they were dealing with, she
might be able to find a better way to seal whatever he was hiding in his body. This content belongs to NĂ´/velDra/ma.Org .
The truth was that she was already aware of that evil power nesting within Rocky. She had felt and
seen it when they were cultivating together. But it wasn't until just now that she realized exactly how
immense this evil power was. It was more than she could comprehend, and almost beyond her power
to entirely seal it. If she was going to continue to aid Rocky in sealing it, it was imperative that she knew
more about it.
"Where's Earthrise anyway? You didn't kill him, did you?" Rocky abruptly changed the subject, clearly
uncomfortable.
"No, I didn't. But I did badly injure him. I could've killed him if I put my mind to it, but he's too slick and
cunning for that. He slipped away before I could. I doubt that he's a threat to us now," Alyssa replied
with a bitter snort, somewhat marveling at Rocky's obstinacy.
"Well I'm glad to hear that at least. Otherwise, I've suffered through all of this for nothing!" Rocky shook
his head with a deep sigh. If it had not been for the fact that he had to hold the Crouching Demon back,
both he and his two beasts wouldn't have been in that predicament at all. And he wouldn't have
released evil power sealed in fourth grade, which almost put him directly at the doorstep of death.
But this loss might have some hidden benefits to it. This chance gave him the opportunity to learn that
Ken had inherited the guardian beast's powers and that their spiritual powers could link together to
form something even stronger.
"Can you get up? Or walk on your own? We can't stay here. We have to go and save Moon Fox,"
Alyssa asked as she noticed how pale Rocky looked. He looked like a man who had been completely
spent and already at the limit of his strength. She remembered that Rocky had somehow managed to
hold back the Crouching Demon for as long as he had. His endeavor had given her enough time to
defeat Earthrise. It was an astounding feat.
However, if Alyssa ever found out that Rocky could have actually defeated Crouching Demon, things
would be quite different. With the combined guardian power from Ken, Rocky wouldn't have just been
able to hold Crouching Demon back. He might even have been able to eliminate him altogether. And
Alyssa would have quite a different opinion of him then.
And the shock wouldn't have just affected Alyssa. Such a revelation would rock the entire Wild Spirit
Land, causing an uproar, when the knowledge that Ken had the power of a guardian beast came out.
For a human like Rocky to come into the possession of a guardian beast, particularly the kind that was
supposedly exclusive to the spiritual race, was absolutely beyond imagining.
At her question, Rocky only nodded and carefully rose back to his feet, even as his whole body shook
from the harrowing experience. He would still need a few moments to recover, as proven by how he
stumbled on his feet.
"Hey, be careful! Easy there..." Alyssa gasped, quickly darting forward, arms outstretched to hold him
steady.
Rocky managed to lean against her more out of instinct than anything. He was simply too depleted of
strength to manage by himself at the moment. From the way they were tangled, however, anyone who
saw them would imagine an intimate embrace.
As Rocky rested his head on her shoulder, Alyssa flushed slightly, overwhelmed by the aura of familiar
masculinity that he exuded. It wasn't all that long ago when this same man was the one holding her in
his arms. Now, the roles were exchanged, and it was he who held onto her for support. She surprised
even herself by not resisting his advances towards her. She had always thought of men as detestable
creatures along the lines of cockroaches. And because of that, she had never expected to allow
someone like Rocky to even breathe within her vicinity. She usually would have rather decapitated any
man who dared come in contact with her body.
And yet somehow, she felt a change come upon her when Rocky came into the picture. She had found
herself doing things that she couldn't really explain. And the reason for such a change could be none
other than Rocky himself, leaning against her at this very moment helplessly.
"Looks like you'll have to go by yourself," Rocky murmured. There was no use for him to come along if
he couldn't even stand on his own two feet. He could offer no help in this situation.
Alyssa didn't allow herself to think too much about it. She was too worried about Moon Fox. After a
brief moment of hesitation, she wrapped her arm around Rocky's waist and pulled him up. Staring at
him straight into the eyes, she said, "Don't be ridiculous. I'm not leaving you alone here." And with that,
she took Rocky back the way the both of them came.
It wasn't long before they reached the last place where they had seen Moon Fox. The creature still
stood there, covered with scars, and enveloped in the red enchantment. But that protective layer was
already weak and on the verge of collapse.
Skyfall and his Demonic-skeleton Wolf were still there as well, viciously attacking the red enchantment
from one area to another. They were seeking out its weakest points and methodically crippling them
further. It wouldn't be long before Moon Fox would be laid vulnerable.
"Rocky, wait here," Alyssa hissed to him hastily as she helped him settle down onto the ground. As
soon as she was certain he would be alright by himself, she leapt into the air and materialized standing
in front of Moon Fox.
As soon as Moon Fox saw Alyssa, it let out a mournful wail.
Skyfall stood flabbergasted as he hadn't expected Alyssa to make it back in time, or at all. His face
morphed into rage as he looked around the area and found his partner missing. Earthrise could be
dead for all he knew.
"If you had even the slightest brains in your head, Skyfall, I'd imagine you'd take my advice and leave
right now! Unless you want to end up like your partner Earthrise." Alyssa sneered, raising an eyebrow
at him.
"Humph! You don't think this is going to go your way that easily, do you? There's no way you'll be able
to beat me if you've spent all this time fighting Earthrise. It won't be long before Moon Fox collapses
too. It's been fighting me and my guardian beast for a while now. Trust me, you've no hope of winning,
even if the two of you pour every last drop of energy that you have left!" Skyfall grinned with almost
psychotic glee, anticipating the taste of victory. He had apparently seen right through Alyssa's bravado,
knowing that after such a battle with Earthrise, she would have already expended far too much energy
to win.
For a moment, Alyssa bit back her retort, knowing that he might have determined that he had the
advantage of her. But rolling over and playing dead? That just wasn't her style.
"Get that bitch!" Skyfall snarled out the command to the Demonic-skeleton Wolf.
Immediately, the beast rushed over ground like an avalanche, launching itself straight to Alyssa along
with Skyfall in a brutal attack.
"Go!" Skyfall cried out. Dark clouds flooded the skies, and instead of thunder, there was the sound of
bone-chilling shrieking and wailing from the agony of ghosts. Black shadows formed in the air and
whirled down screaming towards Alyssa and Moon Fox.
