CHAPTER 837 ROCKY'S PIECE OF ADVICE
As Rocky discovered a peaceful bamboo forest surrounded by several stone mountains inside the Qi
mansion, he also heard a pleasant sound which seemed to be coming out of a leaf.
He was drawn to the melancholy sound and searched where it was coming from. He soon saw a
charming but lonely figure inside the bamboo forest.
'Lucilla?' Rocky stepped closer and saw that it was Lucilla, who came to visit the chief of the Qi Clan a
few moments ago.
Just as he was about to approach Lucilla, another figure appeared out of nowhere.
"Lucilla, here you are. I've been looking all over for you." It was from a low and gentle voice.
"What are you doing here? You know that I don't want to see you," Lucilla said in a bitter tone.
The figure turned out to be Tate.
"If you didn't want to see me, you wouldn't have come here. We often came here before. I taught you
that song you played," Tate said. His voice was calm and reassuring as he recalled the old days with
Lucilla.
"Everything has changed. We are enemies now," Lucilla said coldly, then looked away from Tate.
"Although we have only met a few times in the past ten years, you can see that my love for you hasn't
changed," Tate said affectionately.
"We are not kids anymore. I'm not what I used to be. I had a crush on you, but that was a long time
ago," Lucilla said frankly.
"Then why do you hate me so much? I didn't even see you for a long time..." Tate had to ask. Lucilla's
attitude confused him.
"Since you want to know, I have to ask you one question. Did your clan secretly push my father into
madness? I don't believe my father would go insane suddenly. Someone was responsible for his
mental illness," Lucilla asked candidly. She suspected that some people were involved with what
happened to her father.
Her question stunned Tate, and he did not know how to answer.
"I knew it..." The look on Tate's face confirmed Lucilla's suspicion.
"Lucilla, let it go or you will only put yourself in harm's way. Live in peace and embrace your new role
as the chief of your clan. Do not scratch around looking for trouble," Tate warned her. The warmth in his
voice had disappeared, replaced by a forewarning of danger.
"I will find an evidence. If I found out that the Qi Clan did it, you and your clan will suffer the
consequences," answered Lucilla. She tried hard not to cry as anger and resentment filled her eyes.
"Be careful with your words. You should know better than to threaten us. The Cao Clan does not have
the capability to fight against the Qi Clan." Tate was not afraid of what the Cao Clan could do to the Qi
Clan.
"Are you sure?" Lucilla sneered.
"You will know soon. We, the Qi Clan, can get whatever we want," Tate said, as if threatening Lucilla.
"Let's wait and see," Lucilla answered confidently.
Tate stared at Lucilla for a brief moment, then left.
Rocky listened to the entire conversation and could only shake his head in disbelief. It seemed like the
grudge between the two clans was deep and very complicated, but he did not intend to interfere. He
decided to leave and took a step backward when he stepped on a pile of dry bamboo leaves. The dried
leaves made a creaking sound as Rocky lifted his foot carefully.
In a flash, a slim figure showed up in front of him. She held a bamboo leaf against his throat and
seemed to threaten him with the delicate leaf. It happened so fast that even Rocky was surprised. But
he remained calm and smiled at the person holding the bamboo leaf.
"Mr. Rookie?" It was Lucilla, and she looked very surprised to see Rocky.
"You're here!" Rocky exclaimed as he smiled calmly.
"When did you arrive?" Lucilla asked with a frown. holds © this.
"Just a while ago," Rocky answered as he avoided her eyes.
"So, did you hear everything?" Lucilla asked. Her face turned pale.
Rocky nodded.
"Who sent you here?" The look on Lucilla's face changed. It was a dangerous moment for Rocky as
she pressed the bamboo leaf harder on his neck.
"I don't know what you are talking about," Rocky said as he pretended not to know anything.
"I don't believe you! Did you follow me here?" Lucilla was fearful, and she doubted Rocky.
"It's natural for you to suspect me, but I did not intend to spy on you. I wanted to find a quiet place, so I
went here. I honestly did not expect to find you here and..." Rocky explained and tried to smile. He did
not mean to overhear her conversation with Tate and he was now in an awkward position.
Lucilla saw that Rocky stayed calm and answered her question sincerely. After a moment of hesitation,
she put down the bamboo leaf. With a sigh, she said, "I'm sorry. I'm just trying to be careful. I don't
know who to trust anymore."
Rocky understood that Lucilla was in a tough situation. A fragile girl like her had to assume the
important role of a chief. Moreover, someone in the Cao Clan clearly dreamed of being the chief of the
clan. And now, the Qi Clan had their eyes on the Cao Clan too. For some reason, the Qi Clan wanted
to extinguish the Cao Clan.
"It may be ridiculous, but as the chief of the Cao Clan who has unlimited wealth and power, I'm
struggling to support the clan. The Cao Clan legacy will come to an end if I do nothing. It is critical that
the Cao Clan win the Beast Master Contest. If not, I will lose my position as the chief," Lucilla said with
a defeated smile.
"If it's next to impossible, why not let go?" Rocky could not help asking.
"I can't." Lucilla smiled bitterly and shook her head. She could not let the Cao Clan fall into the wrong
hands. Their enemies would surely destroy it. She inherited the Cao Clan from her father, and she had
sworn to protect its legacy and people.
"But it's too dangerous. Your enemies are heartless. What if holding on to the position will only cause
you and the Cao Clan more harm?" Rocky had made sense of the situation. Lucilla was in deep
trouble. For him, if Lucilla wanted to help the Cao Clan get rid of this situation, she must stop being
stubborn. Winning the Beast Master Contest would not solve all of her problems. For one, it would not
eliminate her enemies, and it's one of her most serious problems.
"What do you mean?" Lucilla asked. She fixed her eyes on Rocky as she searched for an answer. She
felt that there was a hidden meaning behind Rocky's remarks.
"You are smart enough to figure it out. To survive in such a desperate situation, you cannot just rely on
good luck. Besides, if someone from the Qi Clan pushed your father into madness, there should be a
traitor. Find him. Only then can you reveal the face of your enemies and sort this out." Rocky gave his
piece of advice then turned away quietly.
Lucilla was deep in thought as she listened to Rocky's words. When she came to her senses, Rocky
was nowhere to be found.
"Who is he? Why do I feel that I can trust him?" Lucilla asked herself, but had no answer.
