CHAPTER 1638 MEET COLTON
"Well, did you miss me when we were apart?" Rocky asked as he looked deep into Alyssa's eyes. He put his arms around her waist while the two got lost in each other's gaze.
"What do you think?" Alyssa flirtatiously asked back. After dealing with the Shura Race alone for god knew how long, she wanted nothing more than the sweet embrace of her lover.
"I missed you since the day we parted ways, but I'm afraid after this, we can't see each other again until the battle between the human and spiritual race ends," Rocky said with a deep sigh.
"Do you want to stay with me for a few days?" Alyssa asked eagerly. She had so much to share with the man.
"I'd like to. But the people of the Shura Race must be spying on you right now. If I stayed here, things would only grow more complicated. Plus, I have to go back to the human race army to help them finally end the war..." It hurt Rocky to say those words, but he knew he had to put others before himself.
"You haven't changed at all." Alyssa already knew what Rocky would say, but there was still a hint of sadness and disappointment in her beautiful eyes.
"I promise I'll make it up to you when we get back!" Rocky said to console her.
"Fine. Don't you dare break that promise!" With tears now streaming down her cheeks, she grabbed Rocky by the chin and kissed him one last time.
The two of them locked lips while they treasured the fleeting moment.
In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, Rocky and the girls left the base camp of the spiritual race army at night and went back to their base.
Since Rocky previously forged a deal with the Chief of the Di Clan, Eunice led them to the Soul- suppressing City. This was the only stronghold the human army had that was located at the edge of the battlefield.
The city was once a trading place for the two races but had since stopped when the war broke out. Now it served as an outpost for the human army.
After arriving at the Soul-suppressing City, Rocky and the other two girls went to the base camp to meet the commander in chief, Colton.
As a member of the Di Clan, Colton was not only profound in the arts of cultivation but had a talent for wartime strategies. Many held him to be one of the top-five generals in the history of the human army.
But despite his achievements and sheer talent, Colton's army suffered heavy casualties in a battle against Alyssa's army. This forced them to retreat and defend the last bastion of the human race. Anxiety and desperation ate the esteemed commander in chief's heart during the last few days.
He was more than eager to lead his troops out of the predicament.
Knowing that Rocky would come to them shed a new ray of hope onto Colton. He led several elite commanders out of the camp to welcome them.
"Uncle Colton!" Eunice greeted the commander in chief joyfully.
"Eunice, we haven't seen each other for such a long time. You have grown to become a beautiful woman!" Colton immediately praised his niece with a warm smile.
"Uncle, thank you. I'm flattered. But please don't praise me in front of so many people next time," Eunice said to her uncle as her face turned red in embarrassment.
"Is he Commander Basil?" Colton asked as his eyes drifted towards the young man next to his niece.
"Yes, that's him." Eunice nodded.
"I can already tell from his aura that he really is quite outstanding. He has already reached the Emperor Realm at such a young age." Colton looked at Rocky with appreciation.
The elite commanders standing behind Colton also looked at Rocky with admiration. They were simply in awe when they heard of his magnificent feats and power.
"Thank you, Commander in Chief Colton," Rocky said modestly.
"And these ladies are..." Although they were dressed as men, Colton could immediately tell their gender as soon as he shifted his gaze at the three women.
"This is Marcia, who has just been promoted to grand commander. The other two are her assistants," Eunice introduced.
"Oh, so she is the legendary Grand Commander Marcia. I didn't expect that she would come here," Colton said sincerely.
"Commander in Chief Colton, can we have a talk alone?" Rocky suddenly asked.
"Yes, of course. You and Grand Commander Marcia come with me. Eunice, you and the other two may settle in now," the commander in chief said to his visitors.
And so, the two went inside Colton's tent while Eunice, Sabina, and Shirley entered their resting place.
The commander in chief asked Rocky and Marcia to take a seat in front of him as he sat on the host chair.
They wasted no time on formalities and went straight to the point. "The Di Clan has sent me a message, so I know your background, Basil. But I still have a few questions..."
"Commander in Chief Colton, if you have any doubts, please feel free to ask," Rocky said sincerely.
"I want to know where your other companions are now. How do you plan to summon them? Can they be of use to the human race army? More importantly, how confident are you to help us turn the tables?" Colton bombarded Rocky with one question after another.
"Grand Commander Marcia, her two deputies, and a number of her soldiers are all my companions. We have already located the whereabouts of the others, but most of them are still imprisoned by the Shura Race. Of course, I have my own way to summon them. If I do, they would undoubtedly be a huge help to the human race army. But even with my help, I'm still not certain if this is enough to turn the tides of the battle. After all, the commander in chief of the spiritual race army is a very powerful tactical genius," Rocky answered all of Colton's questions in one breath. "I must admit, I was surprised to see Grand Commander Marcia come here with you. Now it all makes sense. It seems that your companions are not weak." Even though Rocky and Marcia were willing to offer their help, fear and doubt still lingered in Colton's heart.
"In order to return to our original world, we are willing to give it our all," Rocky assured him.
"All right. I'm glad to hear that. If it means defeating the spiritual race army and ushering in a new era of peace for the human race, then I would gladly protect you on your journey towards the door to the alien world." After taking a moment to think, Colton decided to trust the two with the future of his race.
"Thank you very much, Commander in Chief; we won't let you down," Rocky said as he cupped his hands in gratitude.
"Given the current situation of our troops, it's almost impossible to turn the tables on our opponents. The only way I can see how is if we risk everything and fight with all our might..." Colton's eyes turned serious.
"That's true. So before Grand Commander Marcia and I came here, we had already devised a strategy. Would you like to hear it out?" Rocky asked as a hopeful gleam shone in his eyes.
