CHAPTER 859 A STRANGE FEELING
"Please don't get the wrong idea, Master Lucas. I only admire Mr. Rookie for his ability. There's nothing
more to it," Lucilla explained hurriedly, her face flushed red out of embarrassment. She didn't expect
that Lucas would misunderstand that she had a crush on Rocky. But only she knew that she closed her
heart long ago and vowed to never open it again for the rest of her life. Therefore, she would never fall
in love with any man ever again.
"Chief, you asked me before how to convince him to stay with our clan, right? Forgive my bluntness,
but isn't the only reason why we want Mr. Rookie to stay with us because he will be of great help in the
future development of the clan? I've thought about it thoroughly over the past few days. I think the only
way to keep him here is to win his heart. Believe it or not, if you placed mountains of gold and silver in
front of him you still wouldn't be able to change his mind," Lucas reasoned out with the facts.
"If that's the case, then there's nothing we can do to change it. Mr. Rookie may possess extraordinary
skills but he keeps a low profile. He's not the type to fall in love and get into a relationship with another."
Lucilla voiced out her perspective as a woman.
"I disagree. We all see how kind he's been treating Miss Juey. From the looks of it, he's not as
heartless as you think. Since ancient times, heroes have always associated with beauties. How can
you know if you never try?" Lucas said as he stroked his beard.
"Even so, it doesn't have to be me! Our clan has no shortage of beautiful women. If Mr. Rookie is the
type to fall for such women, then he can have fun with them for as long as he wants to!" Despite what
she said, she was still repulsed by the idea—not of Rocky, but the idea of using a woman to seduce
and corrupt him. If he did turn out to be such a man, then his image that she held in her heart would be
ruined. Men's minds were unpredictable. This was enough reason for her to refuse Lucas' advice.
"It seems you still haven't understood, my chief. I never suggested that you try to seduce him. I just
hope that you could consider the thought of him being your husband. Based on his actions over the
past few days, I think Mr. Rookie is trustworthy enough. He may have his reasons, but I'm sure they
won't have any negative impact on the Cao Clan. In fact, I believe he can help the Cao Clan redeem
itself. His strength alone is proof enough. If you could just open your heart and accept him, perhaps
he'll reciprocate your feelings," Lucas said, cutting to the chase.
"I don't think he's that kind of man…" While she understood Lucas's good intentions, Lucille was afraid
that she couldn't fall in love with another man.
"Are you certain you have no feelings for Mr. Rookie?" Lucas asked with eyes so piercing that they
looked as though they were able to see into her mind.
"I...I don't know." Lucilla couldn't deny. Her feelings for Rocky were complicated, but she couldn't deny
her admiration for him. Yesterday, Rocky brought her surprises which left quite an impression that she
had never experienced before. It was the first time she had met a man with such charm. Indeed, she
began to develop a crush on him.
"Please don't rush into any decision, Chief. You don't have to agree with all that I've suggested. They're
all just personal opinions. But I hope you can think it over. If Mr. Rookie is the one, I guarantee that
you'll never regret it. Time and tide wait for no man. You'd better hurry up. It will be too late if Mr.
Rookie leaves our clan." Lucas nodded at Lucilla and then walked away.
Remaining where she stood, Lucilla's eyes followed Lucas until he was out of sight. As she began to
imagine Rocky's striking figure on the stage yesterday, the confusion was clear in her eyes. "Is he
really worth committing my life to?" she asked herself.
The next day, the final competition of the Beast Master Contest was going to take place as planned.
Rocky became the main topic of the entire capital due to his brilliant performance two days ago. Before
the competition, the hall was abuzz with chatter about the breathtaking competition between the Cao
Clan's mysterious beast evaluator and Carter. The atmosphere was a very lively one.
Today was the beast curing competition, the final battle between the Cao Clan and the Qi Clan that
would determine the winner of the Beast Master Contest. Needless to say, both clans would give it their
all this time.
Everyone was looking forward to witnessing this grand battle!
Of course, no one knew which clan would emerge victorious. Whether the Qi Clan would trample on
the Timber Deity Empire's former first clan or the Cao Clan would surprise the people again with
Rocky's help and reclaim the top position, the result was still up for debate and kept everyone in
suspense.
To some extent, this competition was of great significance for both the Cao Clan and the Qi Clan.
What's more, it would determine both of their fates.
Just as the competition was about to begin, some unexpected news took the Cao Clan by surprise.
"What? Yang suffered a heart attack?" Lucilla couldn't help but shout and jump out of her seat upon
hearing the news. Her face had drastically changed its color. Yang was the Cao Clan's trump card. If he
couldn't make it, it would be a big blow to the Cao Clan's plan to win. holds © this.
"Right at this moment?" Lucas asked with cold eyes as he thought of the perfect timing of such a
coincidence.
"How is Yang now? Did he get treated?" Lucilla asked anxiously.
"He is still in a coma," the disciple, who came to report the news, replied.
Lucilla furrowed her eyebrows and paced back and forth.
"Chief Lucilla, I'd like to take the lead to buy more time for the Cao Clan. I'll do my best to delay the
game. I hope that Yang can wake up in time!" Travis recommended suddenly.
Lucilla stopped pacing and directed her gaze to Lucas for advice.
"It may not be a bad idea," Lucas replied after a moment's consideration. Technically, Travis was
stronger than Mary so he had a good chance at extending the competition's duration. If Yang woke up
in time, then the Cao Clan still had a chance at winning.
Travis immediately cupped his hands and bowed to Lucilla and Lucas. Without wasting another
second, he headed towards the battle ring. But what people failed to see was the horrible smile that
began to creep across his face the moment he turned away.
Meanwhile, Rocky and Juey arrived at the Cao Clan's waiting area and were surprised by the air of
grief that hung over the people. They wondered what was going on.
"There you are, Mr. Rookie. How's your injury?" Lucilla asked as she stood up to greet him.
"Nothing serious. What happened? I have this weird feeling…" Rocky immediately asked.
Once Lucilla told him everything she knew, Rocky turned his gaze towards Travis who, with each step
towards the ring, made the strange feeling within him grow stronger.
