87 - Rising Lava

87 - Rising Lava

Brazilian Bug Boy caught his breath, recovering from the pain he had endured. "What are we gonna do now?" he asked, looking to the ground.

"I don't know, but I must say, it's getting pretty warm in here." Octopus Man replied. Brazilian Bug Boy looked around to see lava appearing in puddles on the ground.

"HOLY CRAP!" he shouted, standing up in shock. He spread his wings and flew to the top of the cave. The lava surrounded Octopus Man, but he simply sighed in happiness. "So warm and cozy." he stated calmly.

"HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET OUT OF HERE!" Brazilian Bug Boy shouted. He couldn't stay at the top of the cave forever due to the rising lava, but he couldn't leave either as it was still raining pens.

Octopus Man thought to himself. "I have an idea." he stated. The ground started shaking and a massive spiral staircase erupted from it. The staircase pierced through the cave ceiling and through the storm clouds, causing them to disappear.

"This is my special ability. Staircase Moment!" Octopus Man exclaimed. Brazilian Bug Boy looked in shock at the staircase.

Octopus Man began walking up and called out to Brazilian Bug Boy, saying, "Come on! Start climbing!" Brazilian Bug Boy nodded and flew towards the stairs, and climbed alongside Octopus Man.

They walked for a bit, but Brazilian Bug Boy stopped in his tracks. "What's up?" Octopus Man asked. "The sky." Brazilian Bug Boy responded.

"I think I'm gonna have to kill you for that one." Octopus Man stated. "Sorry, just a reflex." Brazilian Bug Boy replied. "The real reason I stopped was because I was wondering about her." he concluded, pointing down at U-VOL, who was about to be engulfed by lava.

"Oh. Well, as the Mary Sue characters we are, we must save her correct? Octopus Man asked. "Yeah, that's what I was thinking." Brazilian Bug Boy responded.

"Okie dokie." Octopus Man replied. He then phased through the staircase and reappeared with U-VOL. "How did you do that?" Brazilian Bug Boy asked.

"I lifted some weights before I got here." Octopus Man replied, before placing U-VOL on the staircase. "Here, you carry her on your back. I'm too lazy." he said before he continued to walk up the staircase.

"Ugh fine." Brazilian Bug Boy said reluctantly. He picked up U-VOL, and they continued their way up the stairs.

"Seems like they are escaping the rising lava." Kiaqua stated, reading the events transpiring on the book. "Well, they can't walk forever." Acty replied.

"The book just wrote that Octopus Man brought a lifetime supply of energy drinks." Kiaqua replied. Acty slammed his fist on his table. "DAMMIT!" he shouted in rage.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

"It's okay. You can just make the lava rise quicker right?" Florbus asked. "YOU ARE A GENIUS FLORBUS!" Acty exclaimed.

Acty pressed another conveniently placed button on his table that said, "Fast rising lava."

Octopus Man and Brazilian Bug Boy continued walking, but they heard more rumbling. It was louder than before. Octopus Man looked behind himself to see that the lava was rising incredibly fast now.

"RUN!" he yelled. Octopus Man and Brazilian Bug Boy ran as fast as possible while screaming loudly. The lava was right on their tails.

"FASTER FASTER FASTER!" Acty yelled maniacally as he pressed the button repeatedly.

The lava rose even faster now. Brazilian Bug Boy was sweating profusely. "What are we going to do?" He asked Octopus Man while panting. "KEEP RUNNING!" Octopus Man replied desperately.

Acty kept pressing the button violently while mumbling to himself. He pressed the button so much that it ended up breaking. The sound of the button breaking caught him off-guard and he stepped back in shock.

"You broke it." Florbus stated. "I CAN SEE THAT!" Acty shouted in response.

The lava began to slow down, and upon noticing this, Octopus Man and Brazilian Bug Boy slowed down themselves, catching their breathes.

"Are we save now." Brazilian Bug Boy asked in-between breaths. "Looks like it." Octopus Man responded.

But just when one problem stopped, one more arose. U-VOL began to open her eyes. When she realized where she was she grew her usual menacing smirk. She jumped off of Brazilian Bug Boy's back and stabbed him in his shoulders.

Brazilian Bug Boy shouted in pain and fell to the ground, holding his shoulder which was now bleeding.

"HAHAHA! I WIN!" she shouted triumphantly. Without thinking she ran back down the stairs, only to fall straight into the lava. "OW! IT BURNS! IT BURNS!" she shouted.

Octopus Man sighed and dragged her out of the lava. He turned to Brazilian Bug Boy and said, "You two should settle it with rock paper scissors."

Brazilian Bug Boy was still in tremendous pain but nodded anyway. He let go of his shoulder and prepared himself. U-VOL, despite also being in pain, laughed like usual and did the same.

"Rock paper scissors shoot!" They both said simultaneously. U-VOL played scissors, and Brazilian Bug Boy played rock. "I did it!" he shouted happily.

"Heh. I guess you did." U-VOL responded before passing out again. Brazilian Bug Boy stood up and smiled weakly. "I really did it!" he repeated.

As he stood up, he lost his footing and fell off the staircase right into the lava. "OW! IT BURNS! IT BURNS!" he shouted.

Octopus Man and Brazilian Bug Boy were teleported back to the dungeon. Brazilian Bug Boy was burnt to a crisp, but was still alive.

Not needing the TV anymore, Goose Man reverted it back to a hanger.

"Good job!" Cutecumber congratulated. "Yes. It's good we at least tied with them." Floran added.

"Yeah, but what now?" Emberlyn asked. They all looked at each other, not knowing what to do.

"What now?" Florbus asked. Acty was on the floor crying. "I don't know man. Just let them go or something. I've had enough of this." he replied.

Florbus shook his head and knelt down next to Acty, saying. "But what about your precious wall and ceiling? They can't just get away with their destruction, right?"

Acty looked up at Florbus. "You're right. YOU'RE RIGHT! THEY WILL PAY!" he shouted in response.

Kiaqua closed her book and looked at them with her tired eyes. "Then what are we going to do now?" she asked with no enthusiasm in her voice whatsoever.

"We stalemated, we didn't lose, so we can do whatever we want!" Acty shouted. "SEND OUT OUR LAST RESORT!" he commanded.
